It's not so much the negativity that bothers me. Hell, it has been hard to not be negative so far this season. The personal attacks have no place here though. And, as several posters have already mentioned, we see more personal attacks aimed at those posting negative stuff or posts that are all sunshine and lollipops. I'll say one thing, I don't need to see another thread about how bad Juan Pierre or Adam Dunn are. We all know. I doubt Juan and Adam read this site, so we're just preaching to each other. And even if the players do read this site, do we really think they'd give a damn what we think?

I had to read through the thread to get the gist of the rules. I saw "enough with the hyperbole", and said "huh?" But I agree. The negativity has been overwhelming this year, and it's not surprising based on how this team has played. But what baffles me the most is the negativity that comes out even after a win. I've been on this board for quite a while, and I think the negativity and the fighting between posters is at an all time high.

I like both AJ and Peavy, and I believe that they are both competitors, bulldogs, etc. I'm not surprised they had a confrontation at all. I remember from last year Peavy saying he liked to call his own game, and I would see him shake off a lot of pitch calls. If both guys are as stubborn as we hear about them, one would think there would have been more confrontations (and there may well have been). I'm just glad they won the game. I agree that this would have been a much bigger issue if they had lost.

At least Ozzie was entertaining last night during his tantrum over the horrible call on Alexei. His kicking Soto's mask was hilarious.

I too DVR'ed Falling Skies. I hope it's decent...I need some good summer TV.

Why do threads about Ozzie always end in swearing and name-calling? What are going to do when Ozzie leaves?

The word retarded to me has always been associated with those with true mental retardation. I know there's been a push for a more politically correct term, but "mentally retarded" has stuck. Part of it may be that there are several different types of mental retardation (Downs, Autism, etc.). I have a cousin that is severely retarded (and that's what he's referred to as), but people using that term to describe someone being stupid has never bothered me. As far as the dumb vs. stupid debate, I've always thought dumb was a lack of knowledge while stupid was a lack of common sense. So, Phil Rogers was "being stupid".

It's been a long, slow adjustment, if indeed this has been an adjustment period. But if he starts cranking homers on a regular basis and continues hitting better I'm okay with that. On a side note, Dunn in the outfield should be entertaining. They might need an oxygen tank on the sidelines if he has to chase down a liner.

Maybe it's all our fault, as in the posters on this board. Maybe Ozzie and KW read this board, and they say for every Juan Pierre thread that pops up he plays that many more games. If that's the case, we're stuck with him for a few more years.

Just started watching The Wire. Finished season one last night. I can't believe I didn't watch this show before. Fantastic.

Did anyone expect Konerko to have such a good year? His contract looks like a bargain right now, especially compared to Dunn and Rios. The guy better make it to the All-Star game.

Lillibridge is one of the players I don't worry about when they bat. And as many of us have said, he's not going to keep on the same pace and crank out 30 HRs. But with semi-regular playing time he could hit .260+ with 12 HRs and 30+ RBIs. I expect nothing but Ks or weak pop-outs when Rios and Dunn are at bat. Lillibridge is such a breath of fresh air. As Lillian said, some of these other players have got to be embarrassed...and they should be.

Not necessarily workout related, but I recently finally got serious about losing some weight. The MyFitnessPal app for the iPhone is great. I just entered my current weight and my goal weight, and it tells me how many calories a day I should take in. There's a nice database of food and workouts that I can search, and it'll add/subtract the calories. I'm 3 weeks in and have lost 7 pounds. Suprisingly I haven't been too hungry, but I defintely had to change what type of food I eat. And then there's the beer...empty calories. I only drink beer on the weekend, and even then I try to stick to the lighter stuff.

Don't think of it as a day off during a winning streak. It's a day off during the other teams' losing streaks.

Interesting factoid about Lillibridge: He's on pace for 17 HRs and 31 RBIs. And that would be in 215 PA. Not that he will hit 17 HRs, but it's interesting. Adam Dunn is on pace for 14 HRs...in 595 PA.
