QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) Beckett's pitch count must be relatively low. Anyone? 35 pitches, 22 strikes

Mackowiak is now hitting .303 with a .395 OBP.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 05:43 PM) He is tearing up AAA this year so far. I posted a comment over at SSS that he'll be at least a league average CF for the next 8 years and one guy got all pissed and said how could I presume that. Um, maybe 'cause Young was rated the best prospy in the Sox last year and BA had him at #6 in MLB at one point? That's fine, I was just responding to this comparison: But to address what you're saying, Travis Lee was the #1 prospect in all of baseball at one point. Corey Patterson was the #1 prospect too. Plenty of fans had them down as hall of famers, despite the fact that they had never played a single game in the majors. People are awfully presumptuous when it comes to minor league baseball players. There is nothing that we can know for certain until we've had a chance to observe them on the ML level for several years. I get ticked off when I see people trying to make definitive assessments on the strength of jack f***ing s***. -
And speaking of grand slams, it looks like Manny Ramirez is gonna pass Lou Gehrig for 1st place before all is said and done. Lou Gehrig - 23 Manny Ramirez - 20 Eddie Murray - 19 Willie McCovey - 18 Robin Ventura - 18 Jimmie Foxx - 17 Ted Williams - 17 Hank Aaron - 16 Dave Kingman - 16 Babe Ruth - 16 QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 05:41 PM) I think it was Don Mattingly who had seven some year in the late eighties That is correct. He had 6 grand slams in 1987. Mattingly's Grand Slams

QUOTE(indyman @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) Vaz for Young = Brolio for Brock That's hilarious! Young has yet to play in the majors, and I seriously doubt that you've ever seen him play (color me presumptuous), but we can just go ahead and put him down for 3000 hits and 900 stolen bases, correct? -
HR/AB Ratio (Minimum: 200 AB) 1. Albert Pujols 9.0 2. Jim Thome 9.4 3. Jason Giambi 10 4. Frank Thomas 10.8 5. Ryan Howard 11 6. Adam Dunn 11.2 7. Travis Hafner 11.2 8. Carlos Beltran 11.3 9. David Ortiz 11.4 10. Manny Ramirez 11.7

Props to Frank on 1500 walks as well. He actually achieved that on July 4, but I was snoozing.

QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 08:01 PM) I personally think Bill Murray isn't that funny. At all. Really? That's odd. I thought that you were going to hit us up with a list of gems too after that whole elitist spiel, but god damn man....

QUOTE(T R U @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 06:16 AM) Thats what im saying, no one is going to have the exact same ideas about comedy as someone else.. I dont even know one of those 10 movies you listed, never heard of em You've never seen "Raising Arizona"? Dude, rent that s*** ASAP. That movie is too funny. My Top 10 comedies would probably be these, in no particular order: Ace Ventura Part 1 Trading Places Blues Brothers Caddy Shack Stripes Office Space Naked Gun Part 1 Raising Arizona Big Lebowski Groundhog Day (EDIT: Replaced by Coming To America) To a movie elitist, my list probably looks like crap. Again, I don't have enough experience to really speak on this. MAJOR BRAIN CRAMP: I feel like a freaking moron for overlooking this one. And I didn't see it on that Top 100 list, either.

QUOTE(Contreras @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 02:02 AM) But being an Indian fan going to a Sox fansite to call Ozzie Guillen a "f***ing dumbass" is fun and games? Good to know. Nice priorities. That's qwerty, you god damn NOOB. He's the illest Cleveland Indians fan in the history of Cleveland Indians fans.

Garland is still gonna lead the league in HRs allowed, correct? Not that I usually go out of my way to bash him or anything, but that 8-3 record is a joke. If he can't control his sinker, then he is utterly worthless because he has jack s*** to fall back on.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) Rodney is one of Detroit's weak links. Why is that? Because he has had a couple of bad games recently? He's still holding opponents to a .179 BAA, and he strikes out over 9 batters per 9 IP. This was his line through the end of June: 2.79 ERA/1.10 WHIP/.160 BAA Splits: April: 0.00 ERA/0.80 WHIP/.118 BAA May: 2.08 ERA/1.00 WHIP/.122 BAA June: 5.17 ERA/1.28 WHIP..220 BAA Furthermore, if you paid any attention to Rodney last year, you could see that he was well on his way to becoming a dominant setup man. I don't know which school of baseball thought that you graduated from, but I can assure you that Rodney ain't no weak link.

QUOTE(joeynach @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 05:11 PM) Most likely schilling will go becuase everyone in MA, RI, NH, and VT apparently have nothing to do but vote hundreds of times for anyone in a red sox uniform. Apparently Mark Loretta is a stud which i guess the entire league and GM missed out on and oh yeah Varitek and his awsome .240 avg were a stepping stone away from getting voting in. Im surprised Willie Harris didn't get voted in by the red sox fan retards. Jealousy: It's a motherf***er I'll bet that you voted for AJ a bunch of times, yeah? If so, then the same s*** that you're talking (ie "nothing better to do") about Red Sox fans also applies to you. If you're a fan of a particular team, you vote for the players of that particular team, unless, of course, we're talking about wack-ass Scotty Pods.

That ain't no comedy, man. It's a serious drama with a few laughs thrown in here and there. You're not gonna find it in the comedy section at Blockbuster. I counted about 50 movies on that list that I will never see. While I'm no movie expert, I did find the strangely absent "Super Troopers" to be hilarious, and "Major League" ain't listed despite the fact that it is a hell of a lot funnier than "Bull Durham" on the strength of Uecker alone. And as LCR stated, the Marx Brothers stuff will induce tears from laughter.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 11:04 PM) the stars dont mean s***! His upside ain't nowhere near what it was, though.

Word. I need to get into the swing of things period. My prized 2010 draft pick Charles Ornelas went from 5.0 stars to 4.0 stars.

Big Frank is back, and he has HRs in consecutive games. One broke up a no-hitter, and the other broke up a CG shutout. The A's have scored three runs over their past two games, all on Frank blasts. His OPS is up over .890.
