QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) Wu Tang is not only for 12 year olds. Wu Tang is highly respected by anyone who knows their hip hop not just 12 year olds. Yeah, the Genius album from 1991 and some of his verses on the Wu Tang debut are amazing, but otherwise, it's for the kiddies. I can't figure out who is more pathetic: Raekwon or Ghostface Killah? All of their lyrics were inspired by mafia movies. They suck hard. But RZA is a legendary producer, so maybe you like the beats first and foremost. I have the instrumental LP for their first album (limited to only 100 copies I think), and it's unbelievably good.

QUOTE(bmags @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) but you know Eric B. and Rakim are my all time favorites. Dude, why are you even bothering with hip hop from this year? The genre has been dead since the late 90s. Do you have the Krown Rulers repress from 1988? I tracked down their album on cassette back in the mid-90s, and I eventually got the original wax (appeared to be mint but with pops and clicks everywhere and s***ty sound due to tracks truncated on a single record). It has finally been repressed! That is the one you want, man. Seriously, run (don't walk) to sandbox automatic and pick that up. If Rakim is your favorite, you'll want to give me oral sex after hearing the "Paper Chase" LP.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 04:40 AM) Elton Brand had an off night, with 19 and 13 in a win at the Bulls Tyson Chandler had a normal night, with 4 and 13 in a loss vs. the Clips Good trade Krause...... Yeah, but Tyson's "normal nights" include altering shots left and right like a tremendously poor man's Bill Russell at the age of 23. Put a legitimate SG and a legitmate C on this team, and you'll see just how far we'll go in the long term with Tyson wreaking havoc on the offensive glass/playing legendary defense in the paint. Let's separate championship teams from pretenders: It's all about points in the paint. We may have a guy who could turn out to be THE MOST EFFECTIVE PLAYER IN THE NBA in terms of limiting Opponents FG% down low. Pair him up with a scoring C and then we'll see what's up. And yet, you continue to b**** and moan about the 2001 trade. I'm gonna have to take a s*** on those short term thoughts. Brand might have the work ethic, but he ain't got the rare quickness, height, length, wingspan, or leaping ability to have that type of effect on the defensive end. I use my eyes. No paper arguments here. Don't worry, I won't mention specifics from the "Brand is a better defender than Chandler" argument that took place on here a while back. Brand is a scoring assassin down low, and while I'd love to have him, I'll take Tyson's defensive upside and get my scoring punch elsewhere (C, SF, SG, bench). Brand is special, but he's not that special. He's listed at 6'8, but he's barely 6'7. He damn near defines "Undersized PF". Tyson is a true 7'1 with the makings of a legendary shot-altering force. And yes, being a Tyson supporter is pretty f***ing sweet right about now, ain't it? He's beginning to tap into his potential. Always remember that we're talking about a 23 year old.

I am very confused by you, bmags. That Wu Tang/Goodie Mob crap is cool if you're like 12 years old.....maybe. I'd be interested in seeing a Top 10 list of your favorite hip hop artists/albums from 1983 to 2000. You know, just so I could see where your head is at.

Cutest, Weirdest Things You've Ever Said
On Christmas Eve in 1987, my uncle told me that my dad married his hand in the 5th grade. I actually just figured out what he meant last week. Greg, you are the poster formerly known as....? Why did you get banned? Seriously though, there's something very familiar about your posting style.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) I definitely noticed that, I was expecting NJ to make a run anytime and we just ran dominated the 4th. And make no mistake about it...if Ben Gordon is in there, we lose that game. But people still want to see him out there. Just go to the Bulls board at basketballbords.net to see what I mean. Gordon's a hero, Chandler's a bust, Hinrich is overrated, we miss Eddy Curry soooo much, etc. That's some quality basketball talk right there.

Nets@Bulls
If Skiles had this 4th Quarter rotation in effect from the jump, we'd be a 6th, 7th, or 8th seed right now IMO (even without a legitimate SG or a legitimate C). PG: Chris Duhon Point SG: Kirk Hinrich SF: Luol Deng PF: Andres Nocioni C: Tyson Chandler Did you see how they closed the game out with ease? They didn't have a certain dumbf*** out on the court in the 4th, did they? Basketball is not rocket science. If you have a pretty good talent base (Hinrich, Deng, Nocioni, Duhon, Chandler), you lose the dumbf***s, and you win more games. That ain't hard to understand, is it?

QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) Bob Dylan's - Talkin John Birch Paranoid Blues this is one of those times where i wish i understood the joke.s That song kicks ass, especially the Witmark Office demo from 1963. There is a classic 2CD set of Witmark Office demos, and the stuff is much more emotional than the officially released stuff from 1962 and 1963, with few exceptions. Some of my favorites include Walkin' Down The Line, Girl Of The North Country, Farewell, I'd Hate To Be You On That Dreadful Day, Masters Of War, Baby Let Me Follow You Down, Guess I'm Doing Fine, etc. God damn, I looooove me some Bob Dylan.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) heres the best picture nominees for roughly the last 10 years. No good movies in there huh?? :banghead 10 years = deliberate exaggeration for effect. I'm pretty sure that everyone else gets it except for you and maybe White Sox Josh or somebody. Seriously though, stay in school. And besides, 90 to 95% of those movies suck hard.

Brokeback Mountain? I'm not about to watch a suckfest. No pun intended. Puns are never intended! Why am I still watching Shawshank Redemption and Forrest Gump over and over and over and over again? Someone make a good movie FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. It's been like 10 years. I'm in the f***ing Twilight Zone over here. You'd have to strap me down and drug me up if you wanted me to watch any of these retarded award shows. My wife had that bulls*** on. I was on my way to the bathroom when I spotted Ludacris? Grown people are watching this nonsense? My own wife, damn....

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) If you don't have it, find yourself a copy of Neck and Neck, the album Knopfler did with Chet Atkins a few years back. Some astounding stuff on that one. I'll have to check that out. I've been gettting into some of his solo stuff little by little. I traded for some Knopfler/Clapton Tour stuff from the late 80s recently & I'm expecting those discs to arrive any day now. It should be an interesting lead guitar exchange, perhaps damn near Allman/Betts. Actually, it's kind of hard for anyone to even begin to approach the Allman/Betts Duo, isn't it?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 07:54 PM) The fact he can hit a shot if he is open is still light years above the rest of the team... Right, but that's like Rob Deer being your best hitter or something along those lines. I definitely want a big SG who can actually dribble, penetrate, hit the open man, score on the drive, score in the mid-range, hit shots at a respectable rate from the outside, body up on smaller SGs and just abuse them all day, etc. I want that go-to guy when the game is on the line, I want a 80% free throw shooter, etc. In other words, I want Paul Pierce.

Dire Straits
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) Dire Straits absolutely rock. I have a couple of there CD's and they are good from start to finish. Knoppler is the man. The rank very high up on my list of best bands.

Dire Straits
I should also mention that on the 1976-1977 Demos, Mark Knopfler sounds precisely like a sped-up version of Bob Dylan. I'm not talking small similarities here. I'm talking Bob Dylan meets The Chipmunks. But the demos are just phenomenal. I think that the regular version of "Down To The Waterline" is nowhere near as good as the early version because the background singers kind of suck. I mean, they don't get in the way on "Wild West End", for instance, but at times, I just don't like what I'm hearing. I wish that he could have had Sting as a background singer for every song, kind of like on "Money For Nothing".

Dire Straits
I loooove me some Dire Straits. I've had a crash course in their live music and demos over the past 6 months or so. Knopfler is a genius. What are your favorite tracks? My Top 10: Sultans Of Swing Single-Handed Sailor (Rockpalast 1979) What's The Matter With You, Baby? (Rockpalast 1979) Where Do You Think You're Going? (Rockpalast 1979) Down To The Waterline (1976 or 1977 Demo) On Every Street (Demo) So Far Away Brothers In Arms Why Worry (Wembley 1985) Going Home (Instrumental) Honorable mention: In The Gallery (Rockpalast 1979) Wild West End (Rockpalast 1979) Sultans Of Swing (1976 or 1977 Demo) Imagine (Instrumental) Money For Nothing

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 06:37 PM) I gotta expand upon this and say the only guy who should touch the ball for a shot in the last minute of a game is Ben Gordon. Yeah, he can hit clutch shots if he gets open, but the fact that he can't dribble his way out of a hairy situation or make an accurate pass to an open man when the game is on the line is what I'm concerned with.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 06:50 PM) How the heck did Whipping Post not make your list??!!! No love for One Way Out either? Also, Blue Sky isn't an instrumental. Or are you only putting an instrumental version on your list. My top 10 would be: Whipping Post Elisabeth Reed One Way Out (love that slide guitar) Blue Sky (Dickey Betts = God on this one) Jessica Sweet Melissa Hot Lanta Ramblin Man Midnight Rider Mountain Jam There's this bootleg called the "Gatlinburg Tapes" with four instrumental takes of "Blue Sky", and three instrumental takes of "My Favorite Things". It also has a 30 minute (one track) jam and interview session with a "Ramblin Man" instrumental take. That bootleg kicks ass, and then some. "One Way Out" and "Whipping Post" kick ass too. I should put "One Way Out" in my Top 10, but I don't know what I'd take out.

Allman Brothers Fans
I loooove me some Allman Brothers. In addition to the officials, there are close to 30 soundboard concerts from 1970 to 1973 that have been released on bootleg, not to mention plenty of outtakes and jam compilations. What are your favorite songs? My Top 10: Jessica (Instrumental) Blue Sky (Instrumental) Ramblin' Man Mountain Jam (Atlanta 7/3/70, 35 minutes) In Memory Of E. Reed (Instrumental) Trouble No More (Instrumental) One More Ride (Instrumental) Midnight Rider My Favorite Things (Instrumental) Hot 'Lanta (Instrumental) I'm a huge jazz fusion fan, so I love the organ & guitar exchange on their instrumentals.

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 06:15 AM) BTW, the single most ridiculous thing I've seen by the Bulls all year is that they won't give the ball to Gordon at the end of the game. He's the only guy on the team who can create a shot whenever he wants. They could have anywhere from 3-10 more wins if they were able to make that clutch shot at the end. Do you watch every game? Ben Gordon can't dribble or pass. He's terrible. You don't give the ball to that guy under and circumstances. Some of his Assist-To-Turnover numbers have been thoroughly amusing as of late. Against Detroit: 0 Assists, 5 Turnovers Against Cleveland: 1 Assist, 5 Turnovers It's the other way around. If Ben Gordon isn't on this team, we're 3 to 10 games better in the standings. You don't win with players like Ben Gordon. You win with players like Kirk, Tyson, Nocioni, Deng, and Duhon. Ben is bringing them all down. He's a New York Knick, just like I've said a million times before. I'm sure he's a nice guy in the locker room, but he is a cancer when he's out on the floor. It's pathetic. I haven't missed a game in two months (you know, because I'm such a Tyson homer). I key into what Ben is doing at all times because I'm such a blatant hater. My hate is justified, let me tell you! /hopes he doesn't sound like arrogant jerk who makes enemies

Chicagoland Pizza
Frank's Pizza on Belmont & Narragansett. Gigio's Pizza on Waukegan & Oakton But for the most part, good pizza joints are few and far between on the NW side. The restaurants in general just suck uncontrollably around here, unless of course you want to go to a Steakhouse and spend your money like a dumbass.

Your Least Favorite New York Knick!
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 06:03 PM) Am I missing something? Did Gordon get traded to the Knicks? No, it's just a joke. A little inside thing amongst the Bulls fans. But this is a serious poll, y'all. Don't f*** around. Vote early and vote often.
