  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 11:34 PM) Albert Belle had some damn good seasons, but it's also worth noting that his career was short-circuited by injuries even before Thomas's. He didn't even get to 400 home runs, and if those career milestones mean anything, that's a big mark against him. But he was arguably the best slugger in baseball for an entire decade (1990-1999), which holds much weight. He was the most important player on arguably the best team of the decade (Mid 90s Cleveland Indians). On a team with a sizeable amount of potential or full-blown Hall Of Famers (Alomar, Ramirez, Thome, Belle, etc), he was the man. If not for the off-the-field crap, he'd be a 1st Ballot Hall Of Famer.
  2. QUOTE(RegionSox @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) One problem, there was no world series in 1901 Check out the big brain on Brad.
  3. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) Bagwell is easily a HoF'er, as is Frank Thomas. No question about it. And I agree with YASNY and WCSox. Canseco, McGriff and Gonzalez aren't gonna make it. s***, Andre Dawson ain't gonna make it, and that guy was an incredible player IMO. The one guy that I'm confused about is Albert Belle. He is undoubtedly a Hall Of Famer on paper, but with all of the off-the-field nonsense, I just don't know. Talk about legendary slugging numbers. God freakin' damn was he good.
  4. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 09:38 PM) More games attended = greater atttendance. Hmmm, not according to my math. I can afford to go to games, but I can't afford to go to games, you know what I'm saying? What's the parking charge up to nowadays, like $20? If I want like 4 or 5 beers, a bag of peanuts, and a hot dog, what am I going to have to pay? The hell with that. I'm not trying to get f***ed up the ass. The more bandwagon fans, the better. Pay for this bulls***, because I sure as hell ain't trying to. I'll have a great time watching games on television.
  5. I saw "Deliverance" for the first time earlier this week. What an absolute suckfest that was. Good God.
  6. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) Considering your buddy is driving a motorized vehicle, he is probably in violation. His suspension is over, but he had to give up driving altogether because he can't stop drinking compulsively.
  7. It's kind of hard to get drunk if you're drinking in moderation. Even two beers per hour is fine if you have built up a tolerance. I can't remember the last time I was *drunk*, and I've been drinking every weekend since I was like 14 years old. I have never had a case where I didn't remember what happened the night before. I'll go for Rum & Coke a lot of times, or some White Russians, but you have to know your limitations. If you're slamming shots and you intend on driving home? Getting arrested ain't nearly enough. You should have your nuts chopped off. There are a lot of sure signs of a fool, and if you can't go out and have a good time without getting completely hammered, you most likely qualify. I have a buddy who has two DUIs already & he has to ride a freaking scooter in downtown traffic to get to work. What a moron.
  8. Happy birthday to a solid poster.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 06:25 AM) And who is the one looking at nude photos Haha, yeah. I'm married, so I have a pretty good excuse. I looooove me some nude photos. Don't ask me why, but I was trying to find out what the cast members of X-Files are up to nowadays, and I discoverd a gang of nude Skully photos. She probably got some good offers seeing as how people just don't have enough red bush in their lives.
  10. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 04:05 AM) I'm sad, I missed it last night. Well, you didn't miss much. That episode sucked hard. The whole child molestation angle couldn't have been less funny. The voice clip combination thing was amusing for like the first five seconds, but it got pretty tired in a hurry. I turned it off, went back, turned it off, and then ultimately went back to see the ending, which was really the only part that I enjoyed. Just a sucky suckfest on a whole, and I hope that it's not an indication of what is to come.
  11. Yep, I liked her better when she had more meat on her bones. A little pork or in the words of L.O.N.S. "feminine fat" is never a bad thing. Now she looks like a crack whore. I even did a google search, and I found nude photos of her. WTF is that? What a desperate broad. I love me some early X-Files. I'd say that the cut-off point is after Season 5. They simply ran out of material.
  12. This movie is going to be a timeless masterpiece. I can't wait. And for those who feel the need to b**** and moan IN EVERY SINGLE f***ING THREAD, please, stop yourselves just this once. Recognize legendary filmmaking when you see it. I wasn't alive when "Gone With The Wind" came out, but this has to be like the next best thing.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 04:38 AM) Quite hilarious if you ask me. Yep. I shouldn't be laughing. I know that I am a s***head for doing so, but I just can't help it. This is comedic gold.
  14. For the record, I think that Kyle is an amazing mang.
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 06:10 PM) First of all, he was quoting soxfan101, secondly, why bring up my name at all in that fashion, even if it was in green? And you can put yet another misunderstanding on the board, YEEEEE-ES!!! I always figured that dudes who spit in other people's drinks were trailer park trash, but I could be wrong about that. I'm just having a little fun with you, man. Settle down.
  16. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) Is this a personal attack? To answer your question, no. I have never had anything like that done to me. Dude, Rock grew up in a trailer park. Don't worry about it. And yes, I am pretty sure that Kyle was attacking you on a personal level. Are you just gonna sit there and take it?
  17. And BOOOM goes the dynamite. Welcome back. If you need any avatars with shirtless, glistening men, I can probably point you in the right direction.
  18. QUOTE(bmags @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) awesome...thanks HJ..i should say hammerhead actually, that looks too similar to the acronym for handjob. Well, if there was ever an acronym that I could live with being referred to as, it would be "handjob". Awesome acronym.
  19. QUOTE(bmags @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) if i only have Endtroducing...what other DJ shadow is worth acquiring? I think that "Preemptive Strike" is decent. I'm more a fan of the beats that he produced throughout the mid 90s, particularly the Blackalicious stuff. He also collaborated with DJ Krush on a few tracks in the Mo Wax days. Outstanding stuff. Another one that you should look into if you like that Bay Area sound from 1992-1995: Dereliks- "Change For The Bus Ride" 1994 They didn't actually release it until 10 years after the fact, but I had a bootleg tape for a while. They only released an EP in 1994.
  20. QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 10:17 PM) Blackalicious. Yep, I'll never forget when the Melodica EP came out in 1994. That's all that I listened to for that entire summer. I love me some Gift Of Gab. However, after "Nia" came out in 1998 (half good, half terrible), everything else that I purchased kind of struck me as crap. But I love the Gift Of Gab if we're talking about his entire catalog from 1993-1998, including some classic bootlegs (live private club gigs).
  21. QUOTE(bmags @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) and Edan! damn i love edan. Rock and Roll was so great...a hip hop song with references to Velvet Underground. I love that guy. Plus his album cover was sweet. Hey, I have Edan's first two albums from 1997/1998. I don't know if they were ever officially released. Good stuff. Kevin Beacham (Time Travel Host) sent me both of them, as he's good friends with Edan. And of course, I forgot to mention the legendary lyricist Percee P in my previous post (Edan's hero).
  22. QUOTE(bmags @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 10:08 PM) Gza's liquid swords is fantastic I have the instrumental LP for this one as well. Yep, Genius actually had some lyrics. He was kind of a misfit in the Wu Tang Clan. Ghostface had good rhyme schemes and flows, but I can say the same for a gang of dudes who write immediate gratification type lyrics. You know, the kind of stuff that a white boy can't really relate to. Yep, I'm more of a "5 Elements" guy or whatever. I like battle lyrics, but I don't like lyrics inspired by "The Godfather" or "Scarface". I can't really relate to "Ghetto Life" or "Thug Life" lyrics because I simply wasn't raised that type (name that Gift of Gab tune). That means I hate Nas, but I have all of the Large Professor instrumentals from "Illmatic", as he is easily my favorite hip hop producer of all time. My favorites (in the prime of their careers, that is): KRS ONE, Kool Keith, De La Soul, Rakim, Organized Konfusion, RUN DMC, Main Source, Hijack, The Entire Juice Crew (Biz Markie, Kool G Rap, Craig G, Master Ace, Kane, etc), Krown Rulers, T LA Rock, Aceyalone & The Freestyle Fellowship, the Hieroglyphics crew (Del, SOM, Pep, Casual), All Things Madlib (Bootlegs, Instrumentals, Quasimoto, Jazz Covers, etc), The Solesides Crew (Gift Of Gab, DJ Shadow, Latyrx), etc.
  23. QUOTE(bmags @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) 1. I love MF Doom 2. No, where is this "sandbox automatic?" is it a place, or am i just lame. 3. Um...i'm a man. well...i'm a male at least. Sandbox Automatic is pretty much the top internet site for hip hop: Sandbox Automatic The only problem is that they're kind of slow to get orders out.
