Darko Milicic to be traded to Orlando
hammerhead johnson replied to Kyyle23's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
It's a good idea to get Chauncey and Big Ben locked down, but you have got to do better than Kelvin Cato and a non Top 5 pick for an immensely talented prospect like Darko Milicic. Great move by Orlando, although Baby Dwight and Darko are both PFs through and through. If I was going to pick one of those guys to man the C slot, it would obviously be Dwight Howard. It's all about big hips and big thighs. That's why Tyson Chandler ain't cut out for the C slot, but he'll continue to get the bulk of his minutes there with wack-ass Malik Allen serving as the only true C on the roster. Calling that dude a true C is a stretch, but at least he has some girth. Paxson is brilliant, as you all know. -
This weather is the suck.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) Take it easy, I agree with you 100%. Everyone had the chance to nominate two songs. Too late to complain about it now. No problem. It just ticked me of a little bit because I'm the guy who nominated these: Stones: Street Fighting Man Hendrix: All Along The Watchtower And both tracks are getting s***ted on like it's nobody's business. I suppose that I could have nominated "Jumpin Jack Flash" and "Little Wing" instead.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 11:55 PM) Far Away Eyes Interesting choice. A good 90% of what I like from the Stones is pre-1972 stuff, but that track is a good one. I can actually pinpoint when they started to fall off: Tracks Recorded Between October and December 1969: All Down The Line I Don't Know The Reason Why Can't You Hear Me Knocking? Country Honk You Can't Always Get What You Want I'm Going Down Loving Cup You Gotta Move Brown Sugar Dead Flowers Wild Horses Monkey Man Let It Bleed Tracks Recorded Between August and October 1970: b**** Cocksucker Blues I Got The Blues Let It Rock Wild Horses Good Time Women Loving Cup Stop Breaking Down Tumbling Dice Shine A Light Shake Your Hips Sweet Virginia Ain't Gonna Lie Silver Train Torn & Frayed Ventilator Blues Tracks Recorded Between October and November 1971: Turd On The Run All Down The Line Rocks Off Stop Breaking Down Sweet Black Angel Let It Loose Travellin' Man Good Time Women And then, after the 1972 United States Tour came to a close, they hit the studio and this is what they came up with. These sessions were the suck. Tracks Recorded Between November and December 1972: Leather Jacket Potted Shrimp Aladdin Story Dancing In The Light Untitled Instrumental Angie Silver Train (Doo Doo Doo) Heartbreaker Can You Hear The Music Through The Lonely Nights Who Am I Save Me Winter "Angie" is pretty good, "Heartbreaker" is okay, but the rest is pretty much crap IMO. It would only get worse after these sessions.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) best classic rock song? It's not even the best Stones song. I'll ask the obvious question here: Who gives a flying f***? We were asked to provide personal favorites. I like upwards of 75 Rolling Stones songs. In my experience, everyone has a different opinion as to what the best Stones song is, and I just don't have the balls to tell someone that my favorite track is the best. It's senseless, elitist horses***. But here you go. I'll nominate 35 so that everyone is happy. And then some asshole will chime in and tell me that I don't know what the f*** I'm talking about because Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, and Honky Tonk Women are nowhere to be found here: Ruby Tuesday Get Off Of My Cloud Under My Thumb 19th Nervous Breakdown Time Is On My Side The Last Time Paint It Black Mother's Little Helper Out Of Time Standing In The Shadow Flight 505 Satisfaction Mother's Little Helper Memphis Street Fighting Man Sympathy For The Devil Midnight Rambler Dead Flowers No Expectations All Down The Line Jumpin Jack Flash Can't You Hear Me Knocking? Sway Monkey Man Gimme Shelter Sweet Virginia Shine A Light Love In Vain b**** Stop Breaking Down Highway Child Can't Always Get What You Want It's Only Rock N Roll Hand Of Fate Shattered

QUOTE(jenksd @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) Tyson Chandler extended his streak of games with more than 10 rebounds to 11 by grabbing 11 on Thursday. It's the first time a Bulls player has done that since Dennis Rodman's 11-game streak in 1998 (March 22-April 11). And that was in only 17 minutes. Skiles was correct in sitting him down after he picked up his second foul with close to 7 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, as we were up by around 20. Also, he never played in the 4th Quarter, as we were destroying the 76ers by like 30. 6 offensive rebounds too. Those REB/MINUTE and OREB/MINUTE numbers just continue to get better. But I know, it's only a two week hot stretch according to my "mathematics". Even Joe Crede gets hot once in a while. He's just been hella HELLA lucky. When is he gonna score some points, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD????

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 04:32 AM) Marcus Camby won't be remembered 50 years from now for his defense. In order to do that you have to be a part of great teams or be the best defensive player at your position during your career. Camby fits neither of those criteria and his injury problems won't help his case. Legendary defensive players are guys like Bill Russell, Dennis Rodman, and Scottie Pippen not Marcus Camby. Are you trying to tell me that I'm wrong? I'll have to agree to disagree, Mr. Hot Chick. The two best defensive centers of all time could (hypothetically) play during the same era, so the "One And Only" concept doesn't register here. If I say Gale Sayers was one of the greatest RBs of all time, you can't come back at me and say "Well he was always injured!". That's fine, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he was brilliant when helathy. Right now, Camby would make my Top 20 Defenders List since the late 60s. That's why I went as far as to say that he'll be remembered long after he's gone by people who follow basketball on a day-to-day basis/students of the game kind of like ZoomSlowik or something (read: no casual fans). I know, who am I to put together a list like that, since I've only been following basketball since the mid-to-late 80s. Here it is, though. All off the top of my head, so don't bark at me if I forget someone. Walt Frazier Gary Payton Michael Jordan (best ever defensive SG) Dave DeBuschere Scottie Pippen (best ever defensive SF) Bobby Jones Sidney Moncrief Bruce Bowen Ron Artest Dennis Rodman (best ever defensive PF) Ben Wallace Kevin Garnett Nate Thurmond David Robinson Bill Russell Hakeem Olajuwan Dikembe Mutombo Marcus Camby Tim Duncan Alonzo Mourning Right now, active players who already are defensive legends or will be IMO: Ben Wallace Alonzo Mourning Bruce Bowen Ron Artest Kevin Garnett Tim Duncan Tayshaun Prince Marcus Camby Andrei Kirilenko and..... Yep, you guessed it. -
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 09:21 AM) The original All Along the Watchtower? Yeah, awesome song. "John Wesley Harding" is a masterpiece in my book. But even Dylan said that Hendrix perfected "All Along The Watchtower". IIRC, it was in a Playboy Interview.

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 05:48 AM) This poll proves that: #1. Some of you have no idea what "rock" is. and #2. Some of you have poor taste in music. Are we still b****ing and moaning, people? :headshake Dukenukem ain't even involved this time, but people are trying to fill his void. "Street Fighting Man" is the suck? Ooooookay. Either get your ears examined, or keep such bulls*** to yourself. This is all personal preference anyways, and it's supposed to be fun. I can't stand Rod Stewart, but was I talking s*** about The Faces? No, of course not. I'm a huge Bob Dylan fan, but do you see me uttering some elitist nonsense? Nope.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 03:01 AM) If your going to make the claim Marcus Camby is going to be remembered 50 years down the line for his defense, then I give up, because that is dumber than some of the stuff even the biggest Tyson Chandler haters have said. He'll be remembered by people who know their basketball. I do suppose that those types are few and far between, though. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 02:54 AM) Is Tyson Chandler a better overall player than Elton Brand. Will he ever be a better overall player than Elton Brand? He sure as hell should be, since that was the trade. There are 2 options here: 1. You admit the obvious, Brand is and will always be better. 2. You say "Tyson is going to be better in 4 years and a defensive legend like Marcus Camby since he leads the league in rebounding the last 3 weeks". I like Tyson, but come on man, your just being silly. Point blank: f*** Elton Brand. That trade took place 5 years ago. It's been 5 f***ing years. Move on already. -

How is it not rational? January 21st is the date that Skiles finally got his head out of his ass and stuck Chandler in the starting PF slot. Since then, he has been playing with confidence. January 21 was the turning point. Maybe you did not know that. And again, Tyson wreaking havoc on the boards is a bad thing. :headshake -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 02:46 AM) Camby is a significantly better offensive player, I'd take that kind of offensive game out of Tyson in a second if I could get it. However, Camby is hurt WAY too much to be a "defensive legend" although when healthy, he's an all league 1st team defender, which is more than good enough. Defensive Legend = One who is remembered 50 years down the line for his defensive prowess I would say that Marcus qualifies without question. He is an astonishing, absolutely remarkable defender. -

See, I don't give a s*** about this year. I've always discussed what Chandler can be in the future, which is all that matters. Right now, he is better than he was last year in terms of rebounding, man defense, passing, court vision, etc. He will only continue to get better. And I don't give a s*** about the money, either. Defense is the name of the game. Protecting your rim is what it's all about. When Tyson alters shots and keeps the other team from scoring and getting second-chance opportunities, it's as if he himself scored. Get it? The Bulls don't have to make up the points if he stopped his opponent from scoring. I'm not gonna expect anyone to understand that. Maybe just a tad too deep. And think of all the second-chance opportunites that he provides for the Bulls on the offensive end. Again, maybe it never crosses the average Bulls fan's mind that something like that actually helps the Bulls offense. He has 60 offensive rebounds in the last 12 games. He is also one of the best in the NBA at keeping rebounds alive on the offensive end (tapping them to teammates, etc). His passing has been damn impressive. He sets picks effectively, etc. -

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 02:41 AM) I'd rather have Tyson with that contract than some schmuk like Eric Dampier or Adonal Foyle. The contracts for big guys are just absolutely ridiculous across the league. Tyson can definitely be an effective player when he has his s*** together, almost like a poor man's Marcus Camby. And remember, he just turned 23 years old. He is a work in progress. He is about four years from his prime. Marcus Camby is a devastating defender (I'd call him a defensive legend), and I think that Tyson will be as good, if not better than him in time. -
