I don't have a problem with this. It gives the team an immediate upgrade to the bullpen (as well as future considerations) and gives them a chance to upgrade their offensive speed with Dye out of the line-up. I really don't think the White Sox are as far out of it as it seems. I like the idea of going after young major league ready players. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 04:45 PM) this is kenny williams, cmon guys it will be like broxton and prospect for dye, gio and fields. That I have a problem with.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 06:21 PM) Yeah, wouldn't lose anything but Broadway if Linebrink didn't re-sign. I've never been a fan of Broadway's at all, so I'm biased. So essentially it's Dye for Linebrink? Where'd the puke face go? This year is over. A 30 year old reliever who has never thrown in the AL doesn't do diddly for the team. And the fact that they have to bank on resigning him? Yikes. I'm sorry, man, but if the best they can get for Dye (and Broadway, to boot) is Scott Linebrink...I may have to find another team to follow.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 05:53 PM) I really liked Pirates 3. That was a big movie, but it didn't get too big ala Spiderman 3. I walked out in 15 minutes. I don't know why I was even there.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 06:49 AM) yeah really. He's had top ten hits with Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, Eminem, he has an annoying sounding voice, he always says "convict" and his song "lonely" is played at USCF when the opposing manager goes to the mound to talk to his pitcher. So he's a rapper? I have no idea who he is either.

That's it, blow the whole f***ing thing up

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ May 19, 2007 -> 05:49 PM) Fire Sale on 35th Street!!! Can I get me a Mark Buehrle for 35 cents? Maybe Podsednik's wife for a nickel? -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 05:36 PM) To say Podsednik was the best leadoff man in baseball during the first half of '05 is flat out false. Well, I won't say Podsednik was the best lead off man that first half. I will say, though, that Podsednik brought more to that group of players than Damon would've. While Damon is the better player in pretty much every phase of the game (especially now), Podsednik played the roll of God for the White Sox pre-All-Star break '05. I think it's hard to argue how much of a plus he was on the team. That said, I think that merited a trip to the "display"--even if it was just to sit on the bench.

The Reason This Team is Bad, and Yes: It's Ozzie's Fault
BobDylan replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's Kenny Williams fault for abandoning damn near every philosophy that brought them a championship ring in 2005. This offense sucks and even when it's going good it's a station to station offense. There are very few managers in the game that can make "what they have" work. Ozzie certainly isn't one of those. If I owned the team, Kenny has a very short leash and I've already forgotten what happened 2 years ago because this year falls just short of a disaster--and it's dropping that extra inch fast. -
I wouldn't do s***. I'd just sit there and watch him take his hacks like every other player on the opposing team. Carlos put up some good numbers for the White Sox, sure, but far from great as some people here claim. Not only that, he was a lousy left fielder, refused to shift in different situations and was never really a selfless guy. It was always about the numbers with Carlos. I'd love to have him today because he's a better player now than he was before, but I sure as hell don't miss him or his attitude. The guy doesn't deserve a breath of our attention. What did he ever do? Win an MVP? Win a World Series? Win a playoff game? This isn't Frank Thomas we're talking about. He was never the face of our franchise and he was never the best offensive player on the team. It's Carlos f***ing Lee we're talking about. No big deal.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:14 AM) I cant freaking wait for Vegas for the ps3. I hear the delays are for more fetures with the siaxis controller, so I am excited to see what we will be able to do with that. I'm not sure about extra features, but I did recently read that the game is blurry on 1080p and looks better on lower res.

QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) My 360 just broke! I was about to get one a few days ago for the online play until I saw this thread and the statistics of broken 360's. So I just took God of War II and called it a day. Rainbow Six coming out on the 27th for the PS3...anyone getting it?

No truth to Dye for Abreu??!!?
BobDylan replied to SoxFan562004's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Does anyone realize that the Sox have no speed? If they can unload either of Dye or Crede for a guy like Abreu (without his joke of a contract) they'd be stupid not to do it. Especially if KW says he's not trading for prospects and has a "this year" mentality. Did everyone forget how much speed the '05 Sox had? Or did everyone think it was just the pitching? -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 11:16 AM) I can't figure out if I think Sloan (Eric's GF) is hot. Thoughts? Oh my god, she's smoking. I'd screw her if she had vaginitis.

Picked up God of War II today. That game is bloody. And awesome.

If anybody wants to buy a Wii, mine is up for sale. It's in great condition and has 2 wiimotes and three games (Wii Sports, Zelda, Smooth Moves.) If anybody wants to trade me an xbox 360 for it, I'm up for that too. PM me if you're interested in either. EDIT: Sorry, it's sold.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 11:54 AM) How about Dye, Crede and Buehrle for Abreu, A-rod, Cabrera, and ca$h? I'd wet myself if that happened.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 07:00 AM) Nothing quite beats convincing the police to not throw one of your best buddies in jail. Who the f*** is that in your avatar? And why is he drinking red wine? Red wine is for pussies. Get a goddamn beer or a bottle of whiskey. "Just a guy" my ass. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:24 AM) it's all the same thing anyways Like China and Japan?

I'd find a way to get these players: Yeah, one is an ump, but I'm sure she can play a little 3B.

QUOTE(maggliopipe @ May 23, 2007 -> 04:39 PM) Alligator has gotten more play on my ipod than anything since summer of '05. I thought it would be one of those albums that gets a lot of play and then I'd tire of it but that's just not the case. Boxer is a nice follow up; I'm happy with it. Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers deserves mention too as it's also pretty top notch but I can't get into their self-titled debut. I'd love to see these guys live. I know they were touring with Clap Your Hands last summer or the summer before and The National were headlining. I heard after CYHSY! played, half the audience would leave before The National took the stage which is sad since CYHSY! blows. I see they're playing June 07 at Metro, god I'd kill to see that show. Unfortunately they're not coming my way. Boxer is going to kill my stereo. I haven't been taken so much by an album since Funeral from The Arcade Fire. (Except now I remember Illinois by Sufjan Stevens.) And I agree Clap Your Hands Say Yeah suck. On another note: Why is it that electronica is the only genre that continuously churns out decent-good albums? I'm so f***ing sick of that genre. And is Radiohead dead? I mean, what the hell is going on with their 7th LP? Wasn't it supposed to be out in the summer of LAST YEAR? It better be the best f***ing folk rock album ever made at this point. (At least I hope it's a folk rock album.) And if you have the chance to listen to Majesty Snowbird by Sufjan Stevens, give it a listen. It's a beautifully composed song and I think the end of it might give some insight into Stevens' next sound.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 09:39 AM) Interesting, but... It was written well before the final episodes where discovered who Ben really was in relation to the island and the Dharma group. Also, we can determine that Naomi could be simply lying about them finding 815 wreckage...etc. That's true, but even in the recent scope of things, his theory is still plausable. Some of the details are off--as expected since the theorist is taking stabs at many "hints" from the show--but I don't think his time paradox theory is disproved yet. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 10:09 AM) Yeah, but there's a lot of stuff that doesn't fit with what we know now. Ben isn't with Dharma, they get back to LA post-2004 (not stuck 20 years in the past), etc. And he misuses Schrodinger's Cat. Part of the point of that was to show that quantum properties do not apply to the macroscopic world. I know nothing about the cat. However, I think when Walt and Michael return in season 4 (which it appears they will), we'll know a lot more about the island than we already do.

QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 09:29 PM) Medellin! Next season looks really good. Im glad we dont have to wait that long for it to start. Was that the finale?

An interesting Lost theory here: http://lost-theories.com/theories/2007/may...xperiment-tale/ It's a long read and revisits the idea of time-travel. It's very well thought out and makes a bunch of bloody sense. I especially like what he says about the smoke monster.

I'll have it on my computer if you have trouble getting it SS. Free of charge as well.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 08:16 PM) First of all, Abreu still has a full no trade clause, so he would have the full right to refuse. Secondly, Mr. Abreu's contract is up at the end of this season. He has an option for next year, at $16 million. Money he is no where near earning based on his performance this season. In other words...simple way to look at it. We would have to give Abreu a $2 mil buyout in addition to the rest of his contract. And he'd still walk at the end of this season, because that's insane money for him next year. And no one in their right mind is going to offer him arbitration either...so by doing this deal, we'd also lose out on the right to steal a couple of draft picks like we will when JD walks. So...the deal is JD and 2 high draft picks for Abreu and his contract paying him 2x as much as Dye. The no trade clause puts a damper on things. If he were traded to the Sox, would he still have that no-trade clause or is it revoked after a trade?

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 05:24 PM) Even with the down year he is having he would be tied for second on our team in walks, first in SB, higher than a majority of our starters in OBP, would be 3rd in RBI. Although, not a lof of this is saying much compared to our current impotent offense. I just think Abreu is a better athlete, can cover more ground in RF, has just as good of an arm as Dye. Not that I dislike Jermaine. I just think this would be a good move for us. Agreed. I also think it gives Ozzie a lot more flexibility with the line-up and Ozzie ball. It gives the team an opportunity to put Thome in the 4 slot where he belongs, drop PK to 5 and you can ask Abreu to lay down a bunt or move a runner where as you can't Thome or Konerko. The team has been forced too many times to wait for the long ball because we have nobody in the middle of the line-up that can apply extra pressure. In '05, we had that added pressure even though our DH was s***.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) I didn't think it would be possible for us to get worse, but that move would do the trick. I disagree with that. The White Sox are a terrible offensive team. Sure, they've got some good sticks in there, but there is nearly no variance up and down the order. Every hitter on the team, with exception to Erstad, is damn near the same type of hitter--or at least trying for the same result. Not only that, the team is one of the slowest teams in the major leagues. Abreu adds speed to the line-up, he adds plate presence, he adds a threat to swipe a base here and there. That's two tools Jermaine Dye doesn't offer. Dye can't go first to third, he's a steady hand in the outfield but he has no range...Abreu adds range there too. If the Sox are trying to win this year, I think this would be a very smart trade to make. If they're looking to white flag it, very stupid. Swap Abreu for Dye, add a steady reliever behind Jenks (with a right handed throwing arm) and I think the White Sox are a legitimate threat again.
