QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) Also, a couple comments on Ozzie useage of the pitching. 1. Why take out Garland in the first place? Besides the 1st inning, no one even came close to hitting Garland. Why not let him finish it? He only had thrown 102-3 pitches, which is pretty good. 2. Why not actually put your closer in? I have nothing against Aardsma, and that was horrid pitch calling by Pierzynski, but in a game close like that, shouldn't you put your closer in? 3. Why take out Masset and put in Logan? This one, I really don't understand. Granderson, besides for his leadoff double, had done nothing the whole game, and everyone knew Leyland would pinch hit Monroe if Logan came in. Plus, the rest of the hitters after Granderson are righty. So, this would be Ozzie's 2nd blown game, correct? 1. Garland was leaving the ball up in the 8th. He was done. 2. Jenks was unavailable today. Most of the bullpen was. Thornton should've gotten the call and Aardsma should have given a day of rest. 3. I guess Ozzie wanted a fresh arm. Nothing wrong with that, Logan just didn't get the job done.

What the hell??? Why is the Wii so hard to find still?

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) Have you seen Elder Scrolls IV on 360 as well? If so, which looks better, runs cleaner, or are they basically the same thing, just different systems? Basically the same game. The graphics were cleaned up/sharpened for the PS3 launch, and the load times are much faster. The game also comes with the expansion pack already built in for the PS3. But any way you look at it, if you have a powerful PC meant for gaming, that's where Oblivion should be played. -

QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 11:24 AM) I knew Wii would be bigger than the PS3. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...t&p=1313717 Still too early to say that. Right now, niether have a wide selection of good games. And as it stands (I own both), I use the PS3 far more often than the Wii. Resistance: Fall of Man, Elder Scrolls IV > The Legends of Zelda, WarioWares: Smooth Moves. Have to wait until both consoles get their big releases out. Nintendo already got one out in Twilight Princess, and, in my eyes it was a flop. PS3 is still waiting for Metal Gear, Final Fantasy and Grand Theft Auto. When those three games come out...I have a feeling the Wii will drop off the map. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 11:07 AM) Even if he's right, Anderson needs to STFU. These types of comments are going to do nothing but irritate Ozzie and KW. Agreed.

MARK BUEHRLE HAS PITCHED A NO-HITTER!

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:47 PM) Well... there you go to whoever missed it. I missed it because of class. Just saw it'll be replayed at 11:30 tonight as well. -
Too early in my life to answer that question. I have goals that I hope to achieve. But if I died tomorrow, I'd hope that my family knew that they meant everything to me.

I'm one of the few that didn't think McCarthy had it. Every time he sucks, I'm just proved right. That said, I wish Brandon well.

Last Sunday was probably the weekest Entourage episode I've seen yet, but it was still pretty damn entertaining. I f***ing love this show.

Where KW is going with this team
BobDylan replied to caulfield12's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) I think KW knows the writing is on the wall with this team and will dramatically shift course from June, 2007, through the start of the next regular season. In my opinion, he legitimately believed last year's White Sox team had a great chance to repeat, or he wouldn't have made the Chris Young for Vazquez deal. I now think that he believes the White Sox pitching staff has been passed by the Tigers (definitely) and is threatening to be passed by the Indians and Twins. We are the oldest team in the division, and it's definitely starting to show...we're sprouting leaks and bolts are coming out before our very eyes. KW and OG wanted to give this team one last go-around for the players (like Thome, Pods, Erstad) as well as the fans, who would not have supported a full-scale rebuilding project coming into this season, not after winning 90 last year. It's also my opinion that KW and OG want a team based on speed, athleticism, fundamentals, pitching and defense. Despite the "small ball" moniker, we were not this team in 2005...not to the extent Ozzie would like. KW knows the Indians will lose Sabathia and Hafner after 08, the Twins will probably lose Santana and that Guillen/I-Rod/Rogers/Ordonez/Sheffield will have peaked and declined in DET...so we're now in a race to build the best team for 2009 in the shortest time while also remaining competitive. What I also think this means is that the White Sox will be very aggressive in trading Buehrle, Crede and Dye, and also listening to overtures for AJ, Iguchi, Thome, Konerko, Contreras, Garland, Vazquez, MacDougal and Thornton. It doesn't mean all these players will be gone by 2008 Opening Day, obviously...but I'm not going to be surprised by anything that happens. KW will build around Fields (24), Uribe (28), Sweeney (22) and Brian Anderson (25). I think this is definitely going to happen if he can't keep Garland and Buehrle...as it would make little sense to rebuild the rotation around Contreras and Vazquez for the future. In the meantime, he will stockpile every possible arm to compete with the AL Central for the next 3-5 years. Floyd, Gio and Adam Russell all have a chance to be frontline starters. I think they might move Masset back to starting as well if he can add an effective third pitch. The Sox cross their fingers that either Haeger, Broadway or McCullough (one of the three) will become a dependable fifth starter as well. Of the 12 players I named, almost all of them have decent/favorable contracts and could/should be desireable commodities on the open market over the next 12-18 months. I don't like typing this, but I feel it's inevitable...and I will forever be thankful we won it all in 05. Agree on a lot of points. But I don't think the writing is on the wall for this team, nor do I think they've been passed pitching staff-wise by the Tigers. Aside from the first two games of the year, the Sox pitching staff has been pretty darn good. Jenks blew a save, but that's going to happen. Aardsma and Masset have been as good as advertised and MacDougal/Thornton both have the ability to step in if Jenks can't get the job done. There's nothing wrong, IMO, having MacDougal close and sliding Jenks down an inning or two. I don't think there's much of a drop off there. The question that needs to be answered is whether these guys will be as good when the weather warms up with the bats. The future does look problematic, but KW stockpiled pitching last year for a reason. It's no secret that he's banking on a younger team come perhaps even next year. For 5-6, I'm very excited about this team. All the starters look pretty good, the bullpen looks absolutely fantastic. The bats just need to get going. -
The White Sox do enough for the city. They don't need to knock on each and every door that has a flag with their logo hanging on it and thank them.

QUOTE(Fotop @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 01:28 PM) I watch Lost but don't tend to read much into it or analyze. However, could this phrase simply be referring to the Biblical Jacob? It makes sense seeing as it references God with the phrase. Therefore, I dont you can conclude the Lost Jacob is dead. Good point, but I feel like it's more than a coincidence that Jacob's name showed up there.
-
QUOTE(thedoctor @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 11:51 AM) i noticed another reference to "jacob" last night. the last one was in the clockwork orange episode earlier this year, iirc. wondering who this guy is and if he is on the island. Whoever Jacob is, he's dead. In the Clockwork Orange episode, there is a line on the screen that reads "God loves you as He loved Jacob." The word "loved" is past tense, inferring that he is no longer alive. What that means in terms of who Jacob is/was, I have no idea. But the dude is dead, and if he's not, those Lost writers had better go back to grammar school.

Wow, didn't hear this until now. Truly a great loss to the literary circles. The man was a one of a kind writer and spread inspirations to many, many aspiring and established writers around him. I'm glad he got his last book out, which was more a memoir than it was a novel. It really spoke volumes about how great of a thinker Vonnegut was. His style of writing is one of a kind. R.I.P. Kurt.

QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 10:57 PM) Is anybody else pumped for Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween? f***in' a yes! I don't know why, but I'm a big fan of Rob Zombie's movies. They're not "great" by any means, but the guy just has this way to make sick into sicker.

I'm trying to get through Stephen King's Dark Tower series. I'm about finished with the first book, but I'm not impressed at all yet. Some of his scenes seem pretty "hollywood" if that makes any sense. But it was pretty badass when he left that town and the way King depicted how the Gunglinger can manhandle that gun. I've snuck a peak at book 2 and it looks better.

I had a beta test of it and ran it. I liked it a lot. I just plan to wait a year until they fix the big bugs/glitches and drivers get updated. This was a big OS upgrade from Windows, so it shouldn't be surprising that the field is behind, IMO. It's not like Apple where all software is designed by Apple and they can upgrade pretty much seamlessly. Windows can't exactly force the "third party" to catch up. The market has to force it. Eventually it'll happen. I'd say in about a year. It's too early to discount Vista at this point.

Don't know what to look out for but I've done it and had a great experience. Bought a '97 Jeep Wrangler. Paid about $500 bucks for shipping. A huge truck came within the week and had a b**** of a time driving through those small sidestreets but brought it to our front step anyway. The car was in great shape and I drove it for about 3 years unitl I resold it.

I thought it was already out... What's the new OS got in stock? Better than Vista?

That's actually a big problem I had with World of Warcraft. There was nothing to do outside of leveling up. I plan to hit the quest later in Oblivion, but only when I get bored with exploring the map.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 11:29 PM) Got it for the PC, and my first twelve hours I haven't even done anything with tha campaign yet. The game is just massive. Does the PS3 version include the new expansion? Not sure. I don't think so. I put in about 5 hours today (I couldn't stop) and I haven't touched the campaign either.
