  1. We definitely need a backup 1B. I know Gload will be back, but they don't know when. No use waiting. Look what Washington did, they didn't want to wait for Vidro, so they went and got a 2B in Spivey.
  2. Anyone know if there's any chance of rain? It's very cloudy here downtown.
  3. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) When I was in 6th grade, I had the Motley Crue album with "Dr. Feelgood". I also had a Motley Crue T-Shirt, purchased on the strength of that one song, "Dr. Feelgood". I also had the Vanilla Ice album, but I'll take that over Motley Crue 365 days a year. The late 80s...what a terrible era for rock music. I mean, you had to be a major dork if you were listening to stuff like Poison, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, etc. Anyone remember the radio station The Blaze? That station ruled!!
  4. People finally realize a non-disabled, more deserving player needs to be voted in at SS.
  5. I used to have most of the hair bands CD/tapes. Firehouse, Slaughter, Poison, Tesla, Queensryche. To name a few. :puke Luckily, I was able to return all of them to the record store amid embarrassment. Also, my wife was in love with one of the guys from Color Me Badd. (I Wanna Sex You Up). So she had their tape. Still tease her about it to this day.
  6. I'm glad he's coming back soon. Cotts may have been in danger of being overused.
  7. As Star Wars characters would say: "I have a bad feeling about this" Vazquez did own us last year. But hopefully, he pitches like he did in the playoffs. El Duque has been less than sharp since his return. It was rather embarrassing to have a guy like Shawn Estes pitch like he did last night (first CG in two years), but those things happen over the course of the year. Hopefully, the offense wakes up tonight. If not, we have Russ Ortiz tomorrow.
  8. It should be noted that Widger has three hits and three RBIs in nine career at-bats against Estes. Another reason he's starting. Anyone remember that Grand Slam Miguel Olivo crushed off Estes against the Cubs a few years back? That was beautiful.
  9. Wonder if Sweet Lou is next after his comments about ownership.
  10. I remember the 1989 World Series. It was knocked off the air and delayed a few days. That was pretty crazy listening to Al Michaels describing it.
  11. QUOTE(thomsonmi @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) I grew up in Elk Grove. We referred to Meadows that way 20 years ago. I'm still new to that area, so I don't really know why it's called that. I'm sure it's all in good fun.
  12. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) hey I resemble that remark Im right off algonquin rd, if anyone wants to stop by and watch the game Are you by Stadium Sports Bar?
  13. It looks like it's going to be the AL East plus Vlad & Ichiro starting against the NL.
  14. Dave Gallagher Brian Keiser Steve Christmas Ravelo Manzenello Edwin Correia Mark Ryal Dave Stegman Al Jones All right, I'm starting to date myself.
  15. Mike Bertotti Tom Fordham Lou Frazier Domingo Cedeno Shawn Jeter Luis Andujar Rodney Bolton Marvin Freeman (pitched in 1 goddamn game! for the Sox) very Paniagua-esque I have more if you need them...

  17. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Wait guys, make sure I have this right. If guilty America is racist. If not guilty America is soft on celebrities. Right? How is it racist? Michael Jackson hasn't been black for 10 years.

    Cliff

Middle reliever rarely, if ever, make the All-Star team. The only time I can remember it happening is Jeff Nelson, Paul Quantrill & Shigetoshi Hasegawa. That's only three that I can remember. Cliff has done a great job. I'd rather he rest his valuable arm for the stretch drive.
  19. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) In Rolling Ghettos...er...Meadows as well. Hey, knock it off!
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) I think one of the biggest reasons that people keep mentionning Konerko and All Star in the same line is that Paulie was probably the most blatant snub from the team last year - Torre put Giambi on that team as a 1st baseman, and Paulie ended up being out-voted for the last spot by Matsui. 120 RBI's, 41 home runs is a pretty All-Star worthy set of numbers, IMHO. Question for you...Paulie's been hitting over .300 for like the last 3 weeks...how high would he need to get his average and RBI's for you to call him a legitimate AS Candidate (don't forget, there's also a DH spot in the order this year, and Ortiz can't be the only guy who fills that slot, so they could carry an extra 1b bat). And anywho, I kind of hope Paulie doesn't end up going, because I'd rather have him get the rest/finish moving those lawn chairs. I agree, he was the ultimate snub last year and putting him and Big Frank in the final 32 didn't help either. I think if he can put him .avg up to around .270 by around the end of the month (especially since they're playing the Cubs, who he always annihilates), then he should start getting some consideration. Then maybe he can go and claim his MVP trophy he rightly deserved in Milwaukee.
  21. I don't know why anyone is mentioning Konerko and All-Star in the same sentence. Is it because of his 15 HRs? I know it's not because of his .242 average. Tino Martinez more than likely will get the starting nod, with Mark Texeira backing him up. Their hitters just aren't putting up good enough numbers to go. The Sox all-stars more than likely will be Garland, Buehrle and/or Hermanson. If they have more than two, it will be cool but surprising.
  22. Let's continue the domination of the National League!!
  23. 2 out of 3 against a first place club would be very nice. I have a feeling Carl will be spelling Dye today. Let's hope Freddy can repeat his Colorado performance. Then the Sox can head home and tee-off on Cub castoff Shawn Estes tomorrow.
  24. Lineups are in: Pods Iguchi Rowand Konerko Dye AJ Uribe Crede Buehrle Same as last night, just a different pitcher obviously. The fathers: Jackson 2B Greene SS Giles RF Nevin 1B Klesko LF Hernandez C Blum 3B Nady CF Stauffer P
