QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Oct 28, 2008 -> 05:50 PM) So pissed I missed it last night. Definitely catching it online when I get off work. I haven't been as upset about this season as most has but last night's show was pretty bad. Though it was a set up show and next weeks looks like it could be interesting.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 26, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) I meant more of seeing my father say stuff like that. Thankfully WE were rarely on the receiving end of those comments. He's always reminded me of Eastwood. Mostly voice and the fact that he isn't a big guy but you just knew you didn't want to f*ck with him. Though I didn't know that when i was younger.....

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 26, 2008 -> 04:40 AM) Lights are meant for landing, not for flying around aimlessly, alerting your presence to an alien world. Maybe the lights are shining from the inside. What??? Do you expect the aliens to insert their anal probes in the dark??????

Just saw the trailer online for Clint Eastwood's new movie "Gran Torino'. I got to say....i love that guy's movies. Granted he doesn't have the range of some actors but he plays (and directs) to his strengths and does it well.

I'm surprised to not see a thread about him being rushed to the hospital after 'accidentally taking 10 prescription sleeping pills. Anyways...the douche that is Isiah Thomas has decided to claim the ambulance called to his home was for his daughter and not him despite the police and fire chief saying otherwise. It's almost laughable..... NEW YORK (AP) -- A suburban police chief likened the conflicting accounts of an accidental overdose at Isiah Thomas' home to a "cover-up" and rebuked the former New York Knicks coach Saturday for saying it was his teenage daughter who required treatment. "It wasn't his daughter," Harrison Police Chief David Hall told The Associated Press. "And why they're throwing her under the bus is beyond my ability to understand." Authorities were called early Friday to Thomas' Westchester County home, where police said a 47-year-old man was taken to the hospital and treated for an overdose of sleeping pills. Several media outlets reported that police confirmed it was Thomas who went to the hospital. But reached on his cell phone Friday, the 47-year-old NBA great told the New York Post he had not been treated for a sleeping pill overdose, and that it was 17-year-old daughter Lauren who had a medical issue. It "wasn't an overdose," he told the newspaper. "My daughter is very down right now. None of us are OK." Hall forcefully refuted Thomas' statement. "My cops ... know the difference between a 47-year-old black male and a young black female," Hall said. "These people should learn something from Richard Nixon -- it's not the crime, it's the cover-up," he added. Voice mails and text messages from the AP were left on Thomas' cell phone Saturday. Messages left earlier with Thomas' publicist and two of his attorneys were not returned. No suicide note was found, and police were classifying the case as an "accidental drug overdose" on "a number" of prescription sleeping pills, Hall said. Hall would not confirm the identity of the hospitalized man. Thomas' 20-year-old son, Joshua, also said it was his sister, not his father, who required treatment. "He's fine," the Indiana University student told the Daily News. "Reports of sleeping pills are false." The developments, days before the start of another season, are the latest drama in what has been a difficult year for Thomas. He was fired as the Knicks' coach April 18 after a season of dreadful basketball, a tawdry sexual harassment lawsuit and unending chants from fans demanding his dismissal. Still, he was retained by the organization as an adviser and consultant. "Isiah Thomas spoke with members of the New York Knicks organization and is OK," the Knicks said in a statement. "He is dealing with a family matter, and we will have no further comment. He has asked that we respect his privacy, and we will." An ambulance and two police officers responded to a 911 call that came in from the Thomas home a couple minutes after midnight, Hall said. The victim was taken about 5 miles from the home to White Plains Hospital Center, where officials declined to identify the overdose patient.

I'm not sure if it's McMahon's fault or the writers fault (probably both) but I think wrrestling's biggest downfall is that there is a damn PPV every friggin' month and noone know how to build a storyline anymore. i remember back in the day (scratching my grey hair) when a there was only a few PPV's a year and everything built up for them. You had feuds that lasted 2,3 or even 4 months at a time building each week with each guy getting the upper hand and building some excitement for that Wrestlemania match. Now it's like...let's throw these two people together....give them a reason to feud...and end it in a month after the latest PPV. Granted, with all the young writers in the WWE now that might be all they know but still....i can't remember when the last time i watched a full WWE show on tv. every once in a while I'll stop and watch a moment in passing but that's it.

US comedian Sarah Silverman was heckled on stage during her UK stand-up debut in London. Fans, who had paid about £50 a ticket, slow hand clapped and shouted they wanted their money back after the star's short 40-minute set. After the audience refused to leave, Silverman was forced to give a Q&A session as an encore after admitting she had no other material prepared. The comedian has her own show on US cable TV network Comedy Central. Unimpressed fans shouted "you're over-hyped Sarah" and "I've seen longer clips on YouTube", before the star told the audience to "go home" and the left the stage. Reviewers from comedy websites and national newspapers were also left underwhelmed by Silverman's set at the Hammersmith Apollo, which "fizzled out" by the end. Honestly....i have never found her to be all that funny. (though i admit....it was funny when she Fu*ked Matt Damon)

I guess even Sylar is drinking the Kool-Aid..... Star Trek’’s new Spock insists that the new sci-fi blockbuster will be more successful at the U.S. box office if Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama wins the race to the White House. According to actor Zachary Quinto, Obama’’s optimism will drive film fans to see films that have positive messages - like Star Trek. “This is a franchise that offers hope for unity, and so does Barack Obama, the Daily Express quoted Quinto, as telling Entertainment Weekly magazine. “When this movie comes out, and Obama is President, hopefully there will be some parallels, Quinto added. Meanwhile, the original Spock, Leonard Nimoy reckons that the film should have been released prior to next month’’s U.S. election - to give movie fans a boost amid gloomy economic and environmental crises. “My only regret is that the movie cant come out sooner. I think the world could use it. Dont you? he said. (ANI)

Stay classy Dems..... ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- A St. Cloud man, and self-proclaimed John McCain hater, was arrested Wednesday for putting bags of dog poop in the bed of a pickup truck with McCain-Palin stickers. Officers responded to the 2300 block of 27th St. S on Wednesday for a complaint of someone dumping dog poop in the back of a pickup truck. The owner of the truck said he put McCain-Palin campaign stickers on his truck about two weeks ago. Shortly after, he started finding small bags of dog poop in the back of the truck. Wednesday morning, the owner’s mother saw a neighbor putting bags of poop in the truck and called police. David Vandelinden, 45, of St. Cloud was identified as the suspect, and admitted to placing the dog poop in the truck because “he hates McCain.” Vandelinden was issued a $183 fine for littering and unlawful dumping.

it seems that some people are hung up on the fact that a plumber makes $250,000 a year. I've only had to call a plumber once and i can honestly say it wasn't cheep. it was a few years ago but IIRC it was like $500 for about an hour of work. Now if he owns a business that employs a few plumbers and they are all busy then i can see that being possible. I also hear this guy is tied somehow to someone in the Republican party and that he was a plant in the crowd. That may or may not be true, but the Chosen One didn't know it at the time and answered the question the way he did. It's not like Joe twisted his arm and forced him to answer the way he did.
