  1. I also had some parking issues. My brother and I got there around 4 and they sent us to 37th and Princton (the gravel parking lot). We came up from Canal on the opposite side of the park and most of the lots were parking pass only. So one thing I learned about this year is you have to buy buy a parking pass if you want to park in one of the closer lots. But besides that, the ceremony was awesome! I never heard the crowd so loud before when they envieled the 2005 World Series banner on the light tower. What a great show! Go SOX! 1-0
  2. Nobody more happy about this signing than me! Look at my sig Another solid move by Hahn and KW! Now next offseason they need to lockdown Buerhle and Garcia longer
  3. Ahh let it rain, the drought is over, let the Sox fans embrace there world champions as they raise the most beautiful banner I will ever see in my life. I will be there, rain or shine. Brooks Boyers said that the video montage is something that Sox fans will never ever forget! I CANT WAIT till sunday!!!!!!
  4. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 12:36 AM) Ah k.. just what would happen if he went down? cintron at dh? mackowiak at dh? gload? etc. i mean, its not horrendous, but, i really hope thome is healthy. This is why i hoped Borchard made the team. However, if Thome does go down, Gload is capable of being a productive DH, just not as much power. Ozzie will adjust accordingly.
  5. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) Right now, it appears that Matt Thornton will. :puke Matt Thorton
  6. We have 2 super subs in R. Mack and Cintron! What a bench!
  7. In Boone I trust! But who is going to replace Hermy??
  8. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 07:48 AM) Interesting. So Gooch starts the regular season in the 2-hole if he hits well the rest of the spring? That was a rather short-lived experiment. This is great news! I love Uribe, but nobody can beat Iguchi in the #2 spot. Ozzie just wanted to see if it could work, but it obviously didnt. This is what spring training is for. How about moving Dye to the 3 hole and Thome to the 5 hole now? Its important to have quicker guys at the top 3, Thome and Konerko would be the perfect 4,5 in my opinion. This is what i think Ozzie should do: Pods, Gooch, Dye, Konerko, Thome, Uribe, Pierzynski, Anderson, Crede
  9. good article boz. the pen is a concern for everyone. WWKD? What will kenny do is the big question. Lets face it, Hermy is pretty much toast (i hate to say) and if its really true about Jenks losing 10 MPH off his velocity, than we are in BIG trouble. Losing Hermy is one thing, and can possibly be replaced. But losing the 'real' Bobby Jenks would be too much of a blow to overcome. You just can't replace that.
  10. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 06:04 PM) Agreed, Bottalico is most likely done. But there will be relievers cut soon who are better than Thornton. If Thornton still had options, he would probably be replaced by someone more reliable and headed for Charlotte to work on his control problems. But since he's out of options, he will likely be on our opening day roster. That's my problem with the situation. Some pitchers just can't be fixed. For example Shingo and Koch, are know those are some extreme examples but its just a fact. Coop has earned a great reputation on the southside to fix pitchers and get the most out of them, but seeing this Thorton guy pitch and looking at his history, this is going to be one heck of a challange. Being the defending champions, is a challange like this safe? There has to be better options out there.
  11. Thorton sucks, he better not be in our pen. I'd rather see young pitchers like Logan develope then see Thorton blow games in mop up situations. Lets face it, without a bullpen we are NOT repeating. With the injury to Hermy and the rapid loss of velocity to Jenks, we are in trouble. Your right, Vizcaino would look great in our pen right now. I know for a fact KW is out there right now trying to find somebody. THe problem is, no team will be willing to trade any of there premier relievers in spring training. KW's only solution for now is to work within the organization for pitchers and right now the only one is consistently cutting the mustard is Logan and on occasion Lopez. And as far as Iguchi goes, I hope he goes back to the 2 hole, its where he belongs and he makes us stronger there.
  12. He will most definitley get 100 wins this year. What is he at now 88? Happy Birthday Mark! I'm a proud member of the Buerhle fan club here on Soxtalk! Only 27!
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 22, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) I'm worried that I'm going to be missed in the opening night game thread because I'll be at WrestleMania that night. Going to miss opening nite for Wrestlemania??!? Normally I would say its understandable since Wrestlemania is here once every 10 years. However the Sox haven't won a title in 88 years, your going to miss the banner being raised?? Wow!
  14. Everyone pitched in last season. Blum's homerun exemplified that. He will always be remembered by the southside faithful! You guys are right, it is too bad Everett and Thomas didn't adopt Rowand and Blums classyness. I was thinking the other day, why do all these players say negative things after they leave. Why did Maggs, Frank and Carl rip the organization? Well i figured it out. They wanted to stay in Chicago soooo bad, that it hurts them to leave. And that is how these players cope with the process. It pretty much just says that being a member of the Whitesox is a wonderful thing. Thats my rationale behind that.
  15. I agree with Jordan. THe only thing the concerns me is that 2nd lefty opening in the pen. I like everything else. Loses mean nothing. Ozzie is just trying to see what young guys he has the option of bringing up during the regular season, if nessessary. He is also trying to determing who will win those final roster spots: With Borchard dealt, look for Gload to make the team. Also, since there are no lefties out there impressing Ozzie of KW look for Boone Logan to take that finaly pitching spot in the pen. The most likely 25 man roster come opening day: STARTING PITCHERS: Buerhle SP Garcia SP Contreras SP Garland SP Vazquez SP BULLPEN: McCarthy MR/SP B. Logan MR Cotts SU Pollite SU Hermanson SU Jenks CL STARTING LINEUP: Podsednick LF Uribe SS Thome DH Konerko 1B Dye RF Iguchi 2B Pierzynski C Anderson CF Crede 3B BENCH: Mackowiack INF/OF Ozuna INF/OF Gload 1B/DH/OF Widger C Cintron INF
  16. man damn nick lachey! he is dating my girl Kristin from Laguna Beach!
  17. I heard Brooks Boyer talking about the green seats during yesterdays game. He mentioned that not all the green seats will be installed by the 2006 season. What won't be installed? He said the upper deck will be fully green. Anybody have the latest pics of the Cell?
  18. Yea I also noticed Thome running funny around the bases. But maybe thats just his style. I expect him and Pauly to run at the same speed this year.
  19. #1 Johan Santana (best pitcher in baseball IMO) #2 Albert Pujols (imagine him as our DH?!?) #3 Carl Crawford (very young, awesome athlete) #4 A-Rod (don't like him, but he is w/o a doubt the best player in the game) #5 Ichiru (getting up there in age, but he has a good 4 to 5 years left in him) #6 Felix Hernandez (this young phenom is awesome!) #7 Joe Maur ( what is it with Twins catchers that make them so good?) #8 Carlos Beltran (he's over payed, but if he wasn't i'd take him) Those are the 8 guys i wouldn't mind having on our team! Do we need them? Hell no! We're the champs
  20. Frank and Kenny never really were on the same page since Kenny took over in 2000. It began when Frank demanded a raise, KW refused and they haven't got along since. However, KW respected Frank's history and his accomplishments and decided to keep him aboard over the years. Its an ugly divorce. But we have to remember time heels. In about a year or 2 Frank will be back to get his statue and number retired, and Frank and Kenny will shake hands. I'm not going to bash Frank like the Cubs fans trashed Sammy.
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 07:43 AM) To many people here are just counting out the Twins. Bad, bad idea. Yeah, the Twins are always going to be a solid team as long as Gardenhiere is there manager and Santana is there ACE. Lets not forget about there addition of Castillo to the top of there lineup. With all there young talent, they will be tough once again. I'm not counting out the Twins. The Tigers have improved and the Indians are young and dangerous. The AL Central just might be better than the AL East this year.
  22. Javier is going to be the best 5th starter is baseball! McCarthy is by far the best spot starter/ 6th starter in baseball, Garland is by far the best #4 starter in baseball (if Ozzie goes that route). Is it April 2nd yet? Only 1 month away from defending the glory!
  23. Frank will be back here in 3 years to get his jersey retired, his statue envaled, and his face to be put on the outfield wall. He is Mr. White Sox. Its just really unfortanate of him to take shots at the White Sox organization- the organization that stuck by him for 16 years through thick and thin. Taking shots hasn't helped Magglio, so why does Frank think its going to help him?? Frank, you have 3 years to make amends with KW and the White Sox organization, I would start now.
  24. Uribe was awesome in the 2 hole in 2004, but it was his poor june and july that year that worries. He was red hot in April and May but then when summer hit, he cooled down drastically. I hope he learned alot from Gooch last year. He will be the 'giving himself up guy', I think he can handle that. I'm pretty sure he tied the team with sacrifices last year, so we know he's very much capable. Should be fun watching him there and Gooch hit 6th!
  25. Frank looks extremely wierd in green. They interviewed him yesterday and by the look and sound of things, he won't even be ready by opening day. So gotta give KW props for making that bold move to bring Thome over.
