My rangers friend is going to be so happy... he b****ed about Showalter non-stop it was like listening to Cub fans rant about Dusty. How does a manager where his previous 2 teams go on to win the WS the season after he left get a job?

I forgot about Figgins when i was rambling early... ok now i got a whole new picture of what my perfect off-season will be. Im saving it too so i can tell myself how smart I am. For example last off-season I really wanted us to go after Adrian Gonzalez . Anyways trade Crede and maybe a mid-tier prospect for Ervin Santana and Chone Figgins. Trade Garcia to the Padres for Cesar Carillo and maybe Linebrek? if not him another prospect. Trade Contreras to the Rangers for Jon Danks and a mid tier prospect Trade Buehrle and Uribe to the Phillies for Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Madson or somethign like him LF:Chone Figgins SS:Jimmy Rollins RF:Jermaine Dye DH:Jim Thome 1B:Paul Konerko C:AJ Pieryznski 2B: Tad Iguchi 3B: Josh Fields CF:Brian Anderson Starting Rotation 1. Jon Garland 2. Javier Vazquez 3. Ervin Santana 4. Brandon McCarthy 5. Cesar Carillo/Jon Danks Bullpen: Scott Linebrek, Ryan Madson, Bobby Jenks, Mike Macdougal, Matt Thornton, David Riske Carillo and Danks would duke it out in spring training for that last pitching spot. Vazquez showed me as the season went on he has improved greatly and Im expecting big things from him. Jon Garland might seem like a weak ace but really our number 1 guy has been Buerhle, who was more of a 7 IP 3 ER guy than your protypical ace(Halladay etc.) Based on what ive seen from them in the bigs I think Santana and McCarthy can both give quality starts on a regular basis and that lineup is still very potent and is completely reloaded on the top. Madson would become the new B-Mac of the bullpen and Linebrek would be another really good arm to rely on. Also the season after we would be able to trade either Garland or Vazquez to make room for Danks/Carillo and we would have a lot of flexibility incase we wanted to be big players in f/a. Thats my perfect off-season

QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 07:51 PM) If Frank Thomas keeps this up all postseason, he goes into the Hall as a member of the A's. So sad he's still not a White Sox. I love Thome, but Frank is in the postseason; Jimmy is not. KW's biggest blunder ever. Those 2 are the most ridiculous things ive ever heard. No matter if Frank hits a HR every other ab this post-season and single-handely takes the A's to the WS and wins it for them will he go in the hall as an Oakland A. Hell if he gets resigned and does it again next season or next 2 seasons that wont happen. Where do you even get an idea like that from? Also Frank only showed up for half a season, it was one hell of a half a season but what would we be with him in our lineup the first half? Also Jim Thome will put up good numbers for next couple of years as well and Frank can be done at any moment....The only blunder KW made was when he called out Frank in public.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 02:13 AM) I'm going to throw another curveball here. Would you rather trade say Contreras instead for a Danks and another pitching spect or someone like Arias, and then trade Danks instead of Santana in the deal? Personally if there was a way to hang onto Santana without giving up B-Mac, considering his stuff/age/contract etc. I'd like to do that. So you end up with Crawford, Kendrick and Santana, while giving up Crede and Contreras (and possibly prospects)? Or maybe we keep the core of this team but just reload it with young guys. Trade Crede for Santana and maybe a mid tier prospect. Use Contreras to acquire Danks and prob another mid tier prospect from them as well. Than insert both of those in the starting rotation as well as B-Mac. That gives you flexibility to trade away Freddy and one more of the remaining 3(Buehrle, Garland, Vazquez) and we could prob throw Uribe in the mix and acquire Rollins from the Phills and than sign maybe Dave Roberts or if Ozzie has his way Juan Pierre. Or they could use the other starter not acquired in the Rollins deal and send him in a package to Boston for Coco Crisp and ??? We shed a lot of payroll this way, Im sure even though they are young that Santana and B-Mac can put up quality starts for us. Danks has succeeded at every lvl, usually he struggles for a little and than dominates and would be our 5th starter. We would still have 2 veterans on the staff as well. On offense we reload the top of the order with Crisp/Rollins, this allows us to move Iguchi down which maybe help offsets the loss of Crede in the lineup. Also we put Fields at 3B and im thinking atleast 1 of him or Anderson can produce enough that we just dont have 2 holes in our lineup. LF:Crisp SS:Rollins RF:Dye DH:Thome 1B:Konerko C:Pieryznski 2B:Iguchi 3B:Fields CF:Anderson we should be able to run a lot more on the top of the order with that lineup as well so keeps Ozzie happy. Than the 2 vet SP's we keep and our joined by young guys in B-Mac, Santana, and Danks. With this we will have plenty of money to resign Buehrle if we choose to keep him and plenty of money to sign an impact f/a if thats what they want to do.

Bulls Montage Video for Upcoming Season
GoodAsGould replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Honestly I didnt care much for it. For one I probably would of waited for pre-season so you can get pics of Wallace and Brown in Bulls uniforms. Also a lot of the pictures arent that clear and might of looked better if you used video. Lastly I think you probably could of found a song that would of suited it better although that wasnt really all that bad. Also I prob would of started with Kirk since he is kind of the leader of the team, than go to Gordon and Deng b4 introducing the big fa acquistion. Kind of build hype going into him you know? -
Chisoxfan I know you live near the Angels and everything but you are the only person ive ever heard call it a hitters ballpark. Everyone I have talked to about it and whenevr I hear about it on ESPN its moreso refered to as a pitchers ballpark. Now not to the degree of Seattle/Oakland both in your division but still benefits pitchers more than hitters.

Wow ill be really really pissed off if that happens.... playing poker online is one of my favorite things to do...
-
Id want Santana and another prospect maybe... but yeah Im assuming Kendrick and Wood are both near untouchables.
-
Yeah it kind of sounded like Crede would be a goner this off-season...Im just wondering what we could get in a package for Crede. Oh well as long as the Bears keep on winning and the Bulls will be good hopefully the off-season goes by fast and Im not worrying about the off-season 24/7.

Leading off for the 2007 white sox will be....
GoodAsGould replied to max power's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Idonno, Its worth a thought but I dont really see it likely at all. I think Rollins, Dave Roberts, Pierre, or Crisp would be the most likely candidates... and i guess there is a chance Pods could be back. -

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 02:21 AM) I would definitely be a huge fan of Furcal. Hell, I'd never thought of him. If LA were willing, and they'd eat some money, why the hell not? if he was cheap yeah, but do you guys really think the dodgers are going to give him up without asking for probably Uribe, a top prospect, a middle prospect and prob wont eat much if at all of his contract. -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 01:58 AM) Greg Walker is the least of our problems. We can fire him and then when the next hitting coach comes in and our hitters continue to do the same thing, we can fire him as well. ^^^^^^ The thing that is wrong with our hitting is our personnel not the coach. But for the majority of the season the hitting was amazing... they just tanked a bit down the stretch. But that happens when you have only 1/2 of your ballclub carrying it while the other half is s***ting themselves.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 01:46 AM) I see. Well, if Lugo and LAD aren't a good fit, then forget what I said. But if they like Lugo, and can get him plus a mid-rotation starter and a couple potentially MLB-quality prospects for the same 13M they'd have to pay Furcal, then I think they might do it. again if we wanted Furcal he was just a f/a why wouldnt we of signed him than? Plus to give them our top prospects for him... he isnt a bad player but he isnt worth the money even if they paid a couple million...and he isnt worth us losing the few prospects we have. -
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 01:42 AM) BS, AJ's greatest strength was hitting for a high average and spraying the ball all over the place. Now all he does is pull and lift like he's trying to golf the ball. he was hitting in the .300's for a majority of the year.. i dont see a problem with Pieryznski at all.
-
Didnt Byrnes say something bad about us or say he wouldnt sign with us when he was still an A or something like that... i could of swore there was some incident with him.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 01:21 AM) Rafael Furcal. Acquired in a deal for one of our current SP's, an offensive prospect or two like Fields or Sweeney, and the Sox get a few mil back in cash consideration. i can only hope to god that dont happen... if we wanted Furcal we could of signed him. -
Im not blaming greg walker.... you want a slap hitting team than sign slap hitters....
-
If Anderson has another s***ty season than i might start get a little down on him, but right now i have him penciled in as our CF for next season.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 06:47 PM) This Jets/Colts game has been quite good up to halftime. I hate FOX, I just hate everything about it. They seem to love colorful, s***ty, elaborate graphics and a s***load of unnecessary sound. CBS on the other hand has a much better HD picture (FOX' is way too colorful) along with crisp, simple, blue graphics. In other words CBS >>>> FOX. Well for us kids without HD picture... Fox >>>>>> CBS and its not even close.
