Any realistic way to upgrade the starting pitching?
GoodAsGould replied to Rowand44's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(shakes @ Oct 20, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) Two horrible months, back to back at that, is a third of the season. You can't just discount that. Didnt Crede have a similar year like that in 05, and everyone was saying he was going to explode in 06... -

Whats the deal with Carter, he looks like he has a lot of talent but than doesnt do much when on the court... -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 20, 2006 -> 08:57 AM) Prior went 18-6 the only time we ever actually saw him healthy, point taken on Wood though. I was talking about after injuries when they have both been trying to come back.
-
He will be back, but im guessing one more season ending injury and he will probably retire. The good thing about him unlike Wood and Prior is he actually produces when he is healthy.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 19, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) Boldin and other larger WR's will post up Vasher, that is where Peanut is better for us. He is a larger presence and can lock down the bigger guys. Vasher should stay on the speed guys as much as possible, actually he should sit back in the zone because thats where he gets his picks. Lol I dont know how that is a response to my post at all but yeah I completely agree. Tillman needs to be matched up against the bigger WR's and Vasher against the speed ones. Also Id wish we wouldnt always give up the small passes, it allows teams that can adjust just to march down the field on us....

Selig pondering postseason changes
GoodAsGould replied to WhiteSoxfan1986's topic in The Diamond Club
If there were willing to shorten the reg. season by atleast 8-10 games I wouldnt be against another round. But I do like the playoffs the way they are and I dont think anything really needs to be changed. -
Umm besides this last game where Vasher has looked bad, I dont know where you come up with the conclusion that the ball is thrown more to him than Tillman. The Cards was so bad so idonno what the split was between the 2 but the entire season QB's have been throwing to the guy Tillman has been covering. Because Tillman usually gives them a little room for the short pass but tackles them right away for a small gain. Only prob with the Cards is that Boldin was abusing us

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) Or a strong receiver like Anquan Boldin.... But to be fair, the Cover 2 defense is pretty much made to contain, not stop, the pass. I dont blame him on Boldin, the gameplan was the problem. For some reason Boldin had no coverage on him for all the short passes. And that probably had a lot more with Ron Rivera than Tillman.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 09:12 PM) And that's really the only reason some people still think he's good. He is actually a better CB than most people seem to give him credit for. The only times where its just brutal is when he is put on a super speedy WR like Steve Smith.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 03:58 AM) Excellent post. I should look at his improvement more than how horrible he performed this year at the dish. Like I said, I like him, I just don't know if you give him the starting job next season. We shall see. But the problem is, he really has nothing more to do or prove at triple A. And if we keep him on the major league team, having him on the bench will just stunt his growth further. So either he needs to be our starting CF to begin the season or we need to trade him.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 04:08 AM) Along with what Heads said, we got nothing. Valido had the potential to be a stud, but it seems that was steroid aided. Getz is a future utility player at best, and the same goes for Lopez. I would say Lopez is future utility player at best but you sell Getz short. He wouldnt have any power but he has the tools to be a tablesetter in the mlb. Will he? prob not.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 10:12 PM) ROFL, my girlfriend wanted me to go as Peter Pan with her as tinkerbell and I was like screw that. Cmon, you could be like Screech in Saved by the Bell: The College Years..... I guess its kind of sad I remember that episode.

They better make some big adjustments in 2nd half. Like maybe putting a CB actually on Anquan Boldin and how about we get some pass blocking going.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) Any player with an on-base percentage struggling to get past .300, regardless of if they slug over .500, isn't as helpful as 10-12 million normally translates to be. Joe Crede shouldn't and won't get 10 million no less 12 ever in my opinion. ummm his OBP was over .300 all season long and while .323 isnt all that good I wouldnt call is struggling. Plus how many 3B are going to hit 30 HR's drive in 90 plus RBI's and give you gold glove calibur defense. Not 2 mention has shown he can get the big hits late in the game when it counts too. If Crede repeats this year he will easily get 10.

He played poorly but the A's wouldnt even of been there if not for Frank. What they should be more concerned about is the fact that Chavez had such a terrible season offensively.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 05:36 AM) I also took great pleasure in seeing that even though I am a huge Polamalu fan. The best part was after the tackle Polamalu just walked away from the play like he was tackled normally, how much you want to bet if Ricky Williams or Al Harris were dragged down by their hair they'd be raising hell they second they hit the ground? That already happened to Ricky Williams. He wanted the guy fined or something but nothing was done.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) Like I said last week, the NFL at all times has 6 teams worth watching and 26 piles of doo doo. sure thing skipper... what did baseball have this season. Mets, Twins, Tigers, Yanks, A's and Whitesox. how many good teams is that? And with the way the whitesox played the 2nd half they might not even belong in this argument.

QUOTE(shipps @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) Pujols and Jeter. And I personally would rather have alot of other players on my team then Arod.Sizemore,Mauer,Miggy to start. Pujols has probably passed A-Rod as the best..... but no way is it Jeter...

I liked him a lot when he was our 1B coach....And I think he prob would be a better candidate to be there than Harold Baines too.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 05:55 AM) How can you use "us" referring to a school in which you don't even know if it is IU or UI? And then to throw the IU coach into the mix? Whatever...... well im tired and just wasnt thinking straight, and yes im a bandwagon fan because i started watching the Illini when they went 29-1. But I check every so often on message boards and watch the games when i can. And wasnt Gordon committed to the Illini and usually when a player makes a commitment isnt he considered off limits. And than the coach from Indiana went and recruited him anyways, I remember reading about it b4 Gordon actually changed his commitment but that sounds like a pretty slimeball move to me. But sure, go ahead and be an ass all you want. -

wow..... that sucks big time... i was thinking Gordon was going to bring us back to the top. I bet the Indiana coach has to be thought pretty low of among his peers. -

QUOTE(SnB @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 03:58 AM) eric gordon committed to IU today. Bruce was wearing leather tonight. IU being Illinois or Indiana... sorry i dont know all the abbreviations im more of a proffesional sports fan than college but i enjoy watching both. -
I like him a lot 2, i know he doesnt have a high ceiling but I think he can be a very solid 2B at the major league lvl someday.
