That grounder at 3b looked like the 3b (davidson) should have made the play, no? Oh well

Just saw what I think is an excellent 3-way trade. Cleveland gets: Carmelo + Eric Bledsoe NYK gets: Kyle Irving Phoenix gets: Whatever assests/salary/draft picks etc. etc. I think that's a deal that works out well. Irving + Porz in NY would definitely be a start to.. something! Phoenix trading Bledsoe for some good assets would be smart as well. Cleveland getting Melo and Bledsoe allows them to compete at a very high level. -

I so badly want to start Moncada in my fantasy league.. but I have Justin Turner or DJ Lehmaniue (sp) to replace and just can't do it... Turner is against a lefty and DJ is at coors. Ah well. Hopefully Sox lose this one and Moncada rakes!

Rainiers relievers Mark Lowe and Jean Machi have been traded to the White Sox & are reporting to Charlotte. Big loss of leadership for TAC. https://twitter.com/CurtoWorld/status/888543180244738048 Mark Lowe Rotoworld: http://rotoworld.com/stats/mlb/4543/mark-lowe

SEA trades Tyler O'Neill to STL for Marco Gonzales
iWiN4PreP replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ok, I stand a touch corrected. Gonzales has been good since his injury and this seems like a decent trade. From SEA prospective, they are getting a former first round pick who after his injury is doing really well. From ST Louis they get a top prospect or a trade chip. -
Has there been any recent buzz on cards interest in either Avi or Swarzak? I'd love to make a deal like that happen.

What the bulls*** is this? this is unbelievable. -
I see regarding McCutchen. Would AJ Pollock, Adam Jones, or Charlie Blackmon be better defensive options? Personally, I'd like the Sox to try to shore up CF/ C with strong defensive+offensive players in free agency and have a strong plan at SS/2b.
-
Wouldn't Andrew McCutchen be the ideal sign for us? Shouldn't require a Machado $$$, yet plays CF and I think he plays good/greaat defense (??).

Just an aside, I really dislike the Houston Astros right now. They have a b****in' awesome team. They have the prospects to acquire just about anybody in baseball, they've been talked about in just about every major trade, yet they can't pull the trigger. Latest I hear that Sonny Gray is looking towards being the Yankees pick up while the Astros sit on the outside looking at it. Now, Gray isn't the guy i'd want, and I can respect the Astros for keeping their prospects in tact and trying to go for a dynasty route, but man, that team is a few pieces away from being dominant. Think if they had Sale or Quintana right now. Dayumn.

Jamie Garcia to the Twins, done.

As someone who hasn't followed baseball all year, I'm quite interested in the final half of this years MLB. We see some amazing stories and close battles in the divisions. AL EAST Has a suprising Tampa bay team leading the wild card, but a built up Yankees team right on their behind. The Red sox always look great. Very close division. Even Baltimore is not too far behind/ too bad of a team (although, for most purposes, they are likely on the outside) AL Central Has the Indians and Twins in a great battle, with the Royals closely behind. Who would have thought the Twins would be where they are? 0.5 GB the wild card, the Twins could realistically make a run for it. Fun! Royals as well. AL West is the dynamic Astros finally coming together (although, I hate them for not trading their prospects to get an ultimate team this year), but there's still a Mariners team trying to make the Wild card, and even the Angels are looking OK. NL West features the biggest story of the season in the Dodgers just destroying everyone. It also features two incredible hitting teams in the Rockies and Diamondbacks. Both of these teams are somewhat fresh. NL Central has a crazy situation going on with the Brewers and Cubs. Cubs surging, Brewers coming from out of nowhere. Pitts/St Louis not too far behind, but likely out of it. NL East has the nats....

7/19 Game Thread: Dodgers @ Sox
iWiN4PreP replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2017 Season in Review
I want to give Tim Anderson the benefit of the doubt, since he was a touted prospect, at a SS position, could play a big role for us in the future, and has decent stats this year (I think?). But man, he has shown some major degression it seems. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 07:36 PM) Not that I necessarily think they will get him, but when have the White Sox ever gone full rebuild like this? When have the White Sox ever spent $50 million on a prospect? There is no precedent for what they're doing, so using precedent for their future decisions is not realistic either. I disagree. It's easy enough doing what is obvious ... trading away players for prospects. (This also saves them some $$$). The w'sox have literally never spent anything close to the relative amount that Harper or Machado is going to get. It's unheard of in the franchise. Just because they are doing something shocking like rebuilding fully, doesn't mean the owners/GM will pony up money for the top dog in baseball. I don't have any statistics with me, but history tells me that the white sox just won't buy big time free agents. As for my personal feelings, while Harper is amazing, I think the money is better spent on filling multiple holes and depth. I wonder what the differences in $$$ will be between McCutchen, J. Donaldson, Z. Britton vs. Bryce Harper. Personally, I'd rather have the first 3. Not sure if that's a fair comparison. By the way, Free agents: http://www.spotrac.com/mlb/free-agents/2019/

Harper is absolutely not going to be an option. He is going to get an insane contract. Put into perspective what the W'sox have historically done ALWAYS. When have they --> EVER Machado is a much more reasonable target, but still will be very much a long shot. I'd love to get Machado. With all this being said, I'd certaintly be ok with getting 2-4 good-great guys on this team instead of the generational talents like Harper/Machado and what they'll cost.
-
Highly disagree. Typically, you don't make these types of deals. You don't package your bullets like this. D-Rob is a high quality get for the Yankees for this year and next. Kahnle, as others have mentioned, has been absolutely fantastic and should cost the most. He is not simply an 'add' to this deal, he is the deal. Frazier is a big get as well, as he has a lot of power and stops the R'Sox from taking him on. We are getting Rutherford, who while being awesome and exciting, is 20 years old and just drafted last year. Clarkin's nice. But nothing else. Meh. Not too bad, don't get me wrong, but mehhhh. The one condolence here is the lack of quality prospects being traded in the Nationals/A's trade and JD Martinez trade.
-
This is an exciting loss of a trade I think. Rutherford is very exciting, and Clarkin is nice, but this is not a win by any means. We are giving up 3 quality pieces and taking on Clippards contract here. The one thing to note is how lackluster the other deals have been so far in the trade deadline in terms of prospects. So I can understand it from this point of view. One more quality piece added and I think it's a very even deal. 2 more quality pieces, I think we win. 0 quality pieces added to the 3 and we lose (slightly).
-
But what are people thinking of Anderson at this point? Is he doing well? If he having some degression? Talk to me like I haven't watched baseball in 2+ years... because that's kinda where I'm at. All I'm looking at is his internet hype/stats.
