  1. Would take Beni over Eaton 10/10 times. Sad the White Sox didn't get in on this. No reason not to. Would have been nice depth.
  2. Bit of a different topic, but exciting doesn't just mean home runs in baseball. Problem with the excitement in baseball is we have outcomes of : Strikeout, walk, or home run. We need more action with hits, line outs, fly outs, hard grounders.
  3. Meh, Osuna prior to the injury was a top 3 closer in the bigs. If you can get him signed to a two year deal for minimal $$$ and it works out the bullpen could be the best in baseball for the next 2 years. Hell, it might even be the best right now. Definitely not something that will happen and maybe not something that even should happen, but it'd be cool.
  4. Wouldn't mind a Odorizzi / Paxton / Roberto Osuna additions this year! At this point I'm pretty much hoping for anyone and anything. It's been pretty dead out there on any rumors for CWS :(.
  5. The deadening of the ball is for everyone, not just to the benefit of the CWS. Makes no difference on our rotation comparatively to others. But yeah, this is an interesting topic.
  6. kyyle23 is one of the worst posters on this site with his constant attacks on anyone who is pessimistic about the CWS, so we can disregard his content. Honestly, the projections are about right. Sox have built no depth. The season is going to feel extremely long compared to 2020. Injuries are guranteed to occur and it will be a dogfight. A lot of people are projecting Kopech and Cease (and even Lopez) to be big parts of this rotation, and that is a huge error. Kopech, for all intents and purposes, should be counted as a 0 for the year. Cease was awful in 2020 and should be treated as a low level unknown for 2021. Lopez is 0. Keuchel won a lot of supporters in 2020, but i'm not fooled. Regression will hit him hard and I'm not saying that because I'm pessimisstic. I have a lot of faith in the hitting, even with the lackluster additions, but depth there also hurts. Twins aren't going anywhere, I like a lot of the moves the Indians made after the Lindor trade, and while the AL isn't as strong as the NL, there's some strengths.
  7. 100% The teams that want to win are building depth. The teams like the CWS that are cheap are praying on no injuries.
  8. Owners vs. Players is a sad dynamic. Universal DH is better for the game of baseball. Should be instituted anyway. I understand the owners position of not allowing UDH for nothing because it's a bargaining chip, but it's beyond sad to me that these two sides can't be like, well, yeah, it's better for the general game so let's do it. That's the epitome of the problem between them. The two sides put themselves first before the game. As far as this topic goes... Double header 7 innings I'm not a huge fan of, but I don't mind. They speed them up and it gets the games in. Im OK with it. Extra innings runner on second is pretty horrible IMO. Should at least go a few more innings before resorting to distorting the game.
  9. Honestly, at this point in the offseason where all my hopes have been killed... I'd be pretty happy getting Yoenis Cespedes. Playing him a few times in RF over Eaton, playing him at DH in the early going until Vaughn gets ready. I could get behind it. He's had success. Don't get me wrong, I'd do a million other things before this. But give me this over nothing. At least it makes a cool story with his bro and the fit
  10. c ) Yax vs. Wilson is toss up. Wilson is 4 years younger, so for a team you give the edge to Wilson. For next year? Probably Yasmani. 1b) Tough one, but I go Abreu. 2b) Cheating aand going with Javy Baez here. But otherwise, Nick Madrigal. SS ) Tim Anderson over Baez, but I'd play Baez at 2b so this is a moot point. 3b) I'd play Moncada at third and Bryant in OF. But if I had to choose... I think I'd go Moncada, but extremely close. LF) Eloy CF) Roberts RF) Bryant or Heyward if I had to choose DH: Rizzo or Vaughn SP: Gio, Lynn, Hendriks, Keuchel, Mills with Cease/Kopech awaiting
  11. And then end up paying $$$ and prospects instead of just paying $$$ now...
  12. 1) It's fine if they believe in cease, I'm perfectly content with having him in the rotation. It's also great to be optimistic bout Kopech. But the idea that they can round out the rotation is absurd. Most teams are going to 6-maan rotations and the best teams are building depth at 7/8 man rotations. You can accomplish all your goals here AAND add 1-2 more decent SPs. That is what we *should* be doing. We can't count on Kopech for anything right now, and we have no back up plans to handle injury. I guarantee you at least 2 of our main guys will go on DL stints this year. Because we didn't spend the 5-10 mil on aa 1 year contract for a decent SP we are going to be lacking in depth in the rotation and there's going to be too many games where we start no names who shouldn't see MLB. 2) Again, it's great that we can go with Vaughn. Why not sign 2 quality back ups who can also DH? I'm not saying to go after Cruz, but get more depth. We can get depth AND have Vaughn penciled in as our DH. Tommy La Stella, Brad Miller, and a SP or two would take this team to the next level in terms of depth and quality. Line up depth would be covered, SP depth covered.
  13. Yeah.. at this point in the offseason i'd be thrilled with one of those three ?
  14. It's not going to be a pretty season when our guys start getting injured. We are quickly going to go from a WOW opening day lineup to a Well... it's OK lineup. With the talent of the starters and so many other teams tanking, we should be fine for a playoff spot, but it's going to be brutal.. when it didn't need to be.
  15. The players continue to get f**ked. There needs to be a lot of changes. Unfortunately, the owners are some of the most greedy pieces of shit possible. Love the conversation in this thread. A salary floor is an absolute must. We need to push it up, someone said 85 mil, I might even go 100mill, but I don't have any stats in front of me.
  16. There's also no reason why we couldn't sign Ozuna and keep Vaughn. The best teams in the league are the best because they have massive amounts of depth.
  17. Ozuna's situation is really interesting to me as I've pointed out numerous times in this thread. The Rays apparently will only be IN on him if his contract demands drastically change, i.e. on a one year deal or something like that. The Braves likelihood of acquiring ozuna diminished with no NL DH. Putting Ozuna in LF all year is not going to be pretty for them. There's no other AL teams out there that need him to DH ... other than our White Sox. If there is any inkling of interest from Ozuna and from the White Sox Front office, we should get it done. It doesn't need to be an overpay. 3-4 years contract should eliminate the Rays. It's not the best fit, but it sure as hell can work with us. As others have said, money would have been better spent on a quality SP, but Ozuna is quality for sure and hiss 15 mil or w.e. a year wouldn't break the bank for the future.
  18. Idk the same thing you say to Clayton Kershaw who is now making ~10 mil less this season that Bauer :p. On a side note, it looks like the Dodgers are now about Luxury Tax area with a 221ish million salary for the year. Pretty crazy. We definitely need a salary floor and possibly a cap. Need to redistribute the money better as well.
  19. I would still put the Sox under them. The Padres/Dodgers are on a different tier due to the amount of quality depth they have both offensively and defensively. Even getting Ozuna + TOR arm, white sox depth is still so fragile.
  20. Wow. This was posted only 3 hours ago it seems. I wonder if the reporter has any rumors/inside info or if he's just speaking out of his ass... if it's the later than he really doesn't understand the bullshit that the sox front office has been spewing out. I would *love* Ozuna. He's an elite level hitter.
  21. That is absolutely comical. Baseball IS already broken.
  22. Wow, what a contract. That is some insane money. I got to be honest, that makes me feel better about not getting him. It's not that I think the money will hurt the franchise.... it's just there's no way in hell Jerry was going there. I was thinking something along the lines of 4 years 30 million ... but 2 years 85 mil with all those opt outs? Amazing job by Luba and i'm happy for bauer, he deserves it! As for the Dodgers... jesus christ, what a staff. A dodgers overpay is honestly the only thing that would have made me not insanely mad at Jerry here. I'm surprised to say im OK with this.
  23. Looks like ozuna signing with rays or braves.... sigh another missed opportunity
  24. Still time for jr to step up and hit a homer with the best pitcher in the game
