  1. There's lots of love out there for Eovaldi... but he can't stay healthy, so hard pass on it.
  2. So Josh Hader is legitimately on the trade block as usual... and the asking price appears to be insane as usual.
  3. I believe in their offense 100%. It can go with any of NYY, CWS, any of the top dogs. But their SP is absolute garbage and their pen isn't all that good either. Definitely screams mediocre team to me.
  4. Gotta respect what the blue jays are doing this offseason, but their moves are really ? to me. Kirby Yates coming off injury, Semien coming off a horrid year, overpaying Springer. Is their team even that good? Without SP I think they likely finish 3rd in their division still. They desperately need quality SP, otherwise I just see massive overpays for mediocrity.
  5. That's very expensive and a very weird move for the Jays. I guess their stacking depth.
  6. I don't feel like we will see much more starting pitcher movement outside of the very off chance kyle hendricks is attached to kris bryant.
  7. 1) From the forums I've been on that have reacts, no one ever questions others in an insulting way if they like someone's post... I guess theoretically it could happen. What I get out of knowing who is reacting is a more personal dialogue and characterization. As it stands now, the like system is mostly meaningless to me with a slight chance that it negatively effects me due to the laughing emoji being used on serious posts. I don't care if my post gets +2 likes or +3 or 0. However, if I am discussing something with someone and that particular person ends up liking my post when we are debating, it helps me find common ground. For instance, I would have liked your post in the quote because you, as an admin, are making an effort to discuss things with me, as a lowly member. Even if I disagree, I respect you for doing that, thus +1 from iWin4Prep and you would know that I am not coming at you with anger. With anonymous likes, that's not possible. 2) "Like" encompasses all other reacts that are positive. As I've said before in the thread, having a laugh react only serves one purpose: to make fun of someone's serious post. Occasionally, the laugh react works as it should, but in all of those cases, a like react would work perfectly fine as well.
  8. As a side note: Anyone have any good books to read on the topic of MLB Owners vs. Players Union? I haven't been able to find any recent books, but it seems like a study topic ripe for some good reads.
  9. So that leaves Bauer, Ozuna, Cruz as the last big dogs of free agency And Didi/Semien/J-Turner/LaStella/Andrelton as the next tier https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/free-agent-tracker
  10. Good deal, good for baseball, good for phillies, NL East to be a bloodbath
  11. REPUTATION SYSTEM: -IDC about. I guess it makes it purpose since if we are going to have likes, might as well have them count for something. EMOJI SYSTEM: - I like the idea of it and agree it adds flavor to the forum. -I dislike it being anonymous -I dislike having multiple values like laugh/fire/etc. for reasons dictated in this thread already. I'd advise changing the like system to just likes as that will result in less problems. I'd suggest taking away the anonymous part as it holds others accountable and it makes it easier to dialogue with people. None of these suggestions are personal.
  12. As do most normal/moral people, but often it is the source of minor frustrations or ridicule. PROS of Laugh emoji: So you can distinguish between a like and a laugh??? I guess Cons of Laugh emoji: It is a use for anonymous ridicule.
  13. I was wrong. I mistook it for long term members. My apologies.
  14. First, the reputation points system is pretty useless IMO. In theory it's a nice system to see who some of the best posters are, but on a site like this with such a tight knit long timers group it's really just a tiny ego booster for the few there at the top always and a small detriment to new users who want to join in on the posting. Honestly, I haven't even looked at it once. I don't understand why there are so many different like features anyway. Who needs a laughing emotion, a love emotion, a fire, emotion. Why not just use one solitary 'like' to encompass it all. That solves the issue of the ridiculing easily. I also still feel that they should not be anonymous either. It seems like you guys were worried about people 'ganging' up on the likes by tagging all their friends, but they can already do that with anonymousity as well. I guess I don't understand why the system is more complex than it needs to be. As it stands, the 'laugh' emoji only serves the purpose to ridicule. I don't really care about it, but yeah, I've noticed it more than a few times on my posts when i'm genuinely trying to discuss things and it makes me momentarily upset.
  15. Yeah, conveniently the admins are the ones who like to anonymously laugh at posts as a form of ridicule. I prefer to know who likes my post, who is laughing at a joke, etc. it's a more intimate experience. As it stands the whole like/laugh concept of the forum serves no purpose other than to ridicule people. It does nothing positive.
  16. I don't know why this forum has anonymous likes/laughs/etc. Most forums I go to tell the users WHO liked/laughed at the post. That would be a good forum upgrade IMO. A lot of times I'm arguing/debating someone and they bring up a good point so I "like" their post and they might not know that I liked their post.
  17. There's a few classic posters on the site that tend to do that quite often. I have them on ignore as they rack up ton's of posts with little to no quality. With that being said, southsider hasn't been one of those posters yet...
  18. Ragah is 100% correct and consistently one of the best posters on this site. It's being real. We can also admit that this division got weaker and we are likely a shoe-in to win the division. That doesn't mean this team is as good as the Blue Jays or NYY or even in the same tier as some of the NL teams as it stands. As Ragah pointed out, the Rotation is a huge question mark. I don't think the bats will be as much of a question mark, but yeah the DH spot and Eaton are both worrisome atm.
  19. The fact that he already has a record breaking AAV out there puts any hopes that the white sox get him out dead in the water. All your points on the spot that he goes are correct tho of course.
  20. MY PRAYERS ARE ANSWERED: WHO WANTS THE SMOKE? Apparently the foodies don't want the smoke...
  21. Of course they could... But it's much more likely that they just win the AL Central with around 90 wins in a year that has its up and downs...
  22. Thank you. Way too many are far too optimistic. This division should be super easy to win, but these guys on here thinking we are winning 100+ games and becoming some super team are far off the mark.
  23. Nah. Super young team will go through hiccups like we saw in the 60 game season... and their rotation still has holes that a deep season will present (also one in which we don't just face the weak central teams constantly).
  24. No, you are not clear. I am not an advocate for garbage like Quintana or Wainwright. However, I can admit that it would be a moderately smart move to deepen our rotation by adding both of them. There's no doubt that our White Sox need to deepen their rotation. The question is are they going to do it the garbage way by picking up one of these low end free agents and utilizing ReyLo early on or are they going to go out and get quality.
