A/AA season start to be delayed
Yup, today's news confirms this belief. It's really unbelievable. Any one of us could lead this situation better than they have. However, they are smart -- they are doing this for their own benefit as a way to delay it and act stupid.

The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
Lynn trade was an upgrade from a current spot... for one year. Lynn is old and will likely regress. Dallas Keuchel is almost guranteed to regress strongly. Cease is a complete question mark. Kopech won't throw more than like 80 innings next year and for all intents and purposes should be counted OUT of our rotation for 2021. Lopez flat out sucks. Giolito is an ace. Rotation is one of the better ones in the AL, but that's not saying anything TBH. It's one Gio injury away from being useless.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
Possible that Joc's contract is longer and overall more expensive than Cruz's. I think the White Sox want Cruz on a one year deal. I have to think that Joc's contract will be at least 2, maybe more like 4 years.

One other thing to note on this topic that is maybe the most important for the MLBPA is that expanded playoffs means MLB Owners have to try a little less to end up making the playoffs. This means less bigger contracts for players in the long run. That seems to be the reason why the players don't want expanded playoffs. The detrimental effect it would have on teams giving out contracts.

Beyond the implications of Cruz, this is completely disgusting for what it means for the MLB. We don't even know the rules of the game and it's going to be February. I'd be furious if this was occurring at my job... I really don't understand how we can be this incompetent. It looks like it's going to be another long 2-3 months between the MLBPA and the owners.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
100% True. They have a ton of bad fielders but good hitters. Alejandro Kirk, Teoscar come to mind instantly who need to use DH. Also Rowdy Tellez is around. They should 100% be out on Cruz. It's Twins most likely with a possible chance for the CWS. Although he could still wait another month or so until the owners/players get their shit together and get U-DH in.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
Yes. It is all bargaining chips. Expanded Playoffs are a MUCH larger puzzle piece compared to Universal DH. Players WANT Universal DH but not at the cost of maybe their biggest chip.

Twins, Sox make most sense 100%. Twins make more sense than Sox. In a strange world, the Blue Jays could make sense, but they have a log jam there too. Rays could make some sense TBH. Seems like a signging they would do.

100%. Owners are asshats.

"Soxfest" week
Surprise signing? You mean Bauer is a possibility?????? Anyway, yeah -- winter is almost done. For those other Chicagoans out here, it's been a pretty darn easy winter so far, am I right?? I bike to work every day and so far I've only had 1 or 2 days where it felt bad (one day it was sleight, so snow on the ground and hard rain on me, that was tough, but not so because of the freezing cold but rather the too hot so the snow turned into rain )

Adam Ottavino traded to Red Sox
I'm not quite sure I follow... is there a good read on this or an easier way to explain? I'd be interested NVM, I see that they also added in a prospect to it, makes sense to me now.

Kris Bryant
Bryant's contract is only for this year... Hendricks 12 mil this year (i think) and 14 mil the next 2 years is a good price. But yeah, I totally get your point there.

Kris Bryant
How about Kris Bryant + Kyle Hendricks to the Blue Jays? It's being discussed: https://www.overtimeheroics.net/2021/01/25/2021-mlb-hot-stove-cubs-rumors/ That wouldn't be great for us... makes the Blue Jays significantly stronger. Hell, I'd love for the White Sox to overcome what the Blue Jays are offering ... get Kris Bryant for OF/DH and get Hendricks as our last piece to the rotation. Dope.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
IDK why acuiring Lynn would make a move for Bauer unacceptable. Teams need 6 starters these days if they want to compete. Dodgers/Padres acquiring large depths of high quality SP's is the way to go for the future and especially for this upcoming year. The AL is going to be a shit show for Rotations, which I guess keeps the White Sox Rotation in the competition. I mean, they have one of the better ones in the AL as it is... it's just that we are one Giolito injury away from being horrible. Keuchel is regressing for sure. Lynn is old and we have to have faith in him, but he's more of a 4.0 ERA dude this year methinks. We desperately need more SP, hell, I'd even get 2 more SPs.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
Everyday I wake up wishing, praying that the White Sox would be linked to Bauer. I want him on this team so bad. No other player as accessible as Bauer is (FA, just money) would make our team better than he would. Adding Bauer is the only way this rotation gets to the point of completion. Bauer/Giolito as 1+2 is WS caliber. Keuchel+Lynn as 3+4 inning eaters is WS caliber. 5+6 as Cease/Kopech/Lopez is WS acceptable. Not only that, I have faith in Bauer's health. So Bauer + Lynn + Keuchel not having health issues makes us strong. Not only that, Bauer is fun as hell. Instantly he'd become one of my top 2 or 3 White Sox Players to watch and he'd probably be #1 soon. No bigger upgrade out there...

Brad Hand to the Nationals
Truly ridiculous

Sox vs. Yankees Comparison
would much rather trade Vaughn for German Marquez and sign Marcell Ozuna instead of Nelson Cruz. I have no problem trading Vaughn
-
Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
One target that I think is perfect all things considered at this point in the offseason... German Marquez of the Colorado Rockies. He will command a package similar to what Corbin Burnes would have. Possibly a bit more, but he'd definitely be the best possible SP we can get assuming Bauer is too expensive and Castillo is not available. Further... unlike the Brewers, the Rockies *should* have every possible reason to trade off their assets. Very little has been heard of the Colorado Rockies offseason and I have no idea why they aren't doing something here. Their going absolutely nowhere in the NL West, their players are going to be losing trade value if they wait. Out of all the horrid front offices out there in MLB, the Rockies have to be the absolute worst. They continually not play their young dudes and they've done absolutely nothing so far this year. Let's will it into existence

Sox vs. Yankees Comparison
Abreu > Voit Tim Anderson > Gleyber Jimenez vs. Frazier is more like CWS+++ instead of CWS+, also frazier might not even start Roberts vs Hicks is also more like CWS+++ as Hicks might not even play more than 50 games given his history Gio vs. Cole is NYY+ Keuchel vs. Kluber is even IMO when you take those into consideration, NYY has a clear sweep in Rotation and CWS have a very strong edge in Offensive lineup
-
Sox vs. Yankees Comparison
No way Giolito = Cole. Cole is #1

Jameson Taillon traded to Yankees
Pretty good Trade for the Yankees. They've done a decent job of rebuilding a depleted SP staff. Still, it's not a very good one and it is a very risky one.

The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
+ 2) This move makes so much sense for this god damn backwards organization ran by JR and Tony. I would be 100% OK with this move as a 6th starter/depth role. Teams need 6 legit starters this year (and probably going forward). Get Wainwright and Bauer.
-
The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
we aare going to be stuck with god damn adam wainwright because this team won't shell out a contract over 100mil for aa premium talent like bauer, aren't we? Same shit, different year. We were playing low payroll for so long and were told the money would be spent... that's half bullshit and half true... the half true part is its spent poorly consistently throwing money down the drain.

Jameson Taillon traded to Yankees
Meh. Wouldn't give the Pirates anything for Tailon...
