  1. You are absolutely crazy if you'd rather have Vaughn DH this year over Ozuna. Ozuna is an Eloy-level monster hitter right now and is proven. Vaughn is a prospect.
  2. so, IDK, I feel like this might deserve it's own thread... but I'm just going to post here regarding Ozuna/Cruz/No DH in NL. With no DH in the NL, that means Nelson Cruz is going to an AL team and more than likely Marcell Ozuna SHOULD go to a AL Team. It begs the question... do any NL teams take on Marcell's terrible defense ? Does Marcell go for a one year contract again? I would imagine that Ozuna is looking to get PAID as he deserves it, but I also imagine there are very little suitors out there. Could be an ideal time to get Ozuna locked up for 3-4 years if you are the White Sox... just saying. AL TEAMS and their DH situation: BAL - Complete rebuild, will need to use DH spot for the plethora of young OF/1b types they have. So No. TB - I don't see TBR spending the money for either. Not impossible, but I'll say NO. NYY - Ozuna was linked to NYY earlier in the offseason but that made no sense to me. They've spent money on pitchers, closing into the luxury tax. They have Stanton as DH, and OF is pretty set, so I see this as a NO. BOS - NVM They have JD, NO. TOR - As it stands, DH is not a concern. They have Teoscar/Randal Girchuk/Rowdy Tellez as all possibilities and one or two of them need the DH spot anyway. So no, unless they get creative with a trade this late in the offseason. CWS - budget concerns, but open DH... LETS GO OZUNA! MIN - 95% Certainty that Nelson Cruz just ends up here. So Yes to Cruz. DET - Rebuilding, would be shocking if they went here, No. KC - Rebuilding, would be shocking if they went here, No. CLE - Franmil Reyes and Eddie Rosario are both awful defenders and in need of the DH. So no. HOU - Yordan Alvarez. No. LAA - LAA has the corpse of Pujols with the rising prospect of Jared Welsh and other oldies clogging up the lineup. Highly doubt that they spend money to get either. No. OAK - OAK never spends money. They still have Khris Davis. I highly doubt anything happens here, so No. TEX - Full on rebuild, I would be shocked if they decided to spend $$$ on a DH for a year or two. So No. SEA - They shouldn't sign them. They have a young amazing team filled with OFrs, one of them will occupy the DH and their a year or two away from competiting.
  3. Great post! My thoughts: Choo would be ideal. TBH he'd probably be better than Eaton over the year. Cespedes I am also fine with. See what he has left. Villar - Just say NO. Bad defender, bad teammate (from what I hear on podcasts), the playoff marlins gave him away for nothing... No one wants this dude. Marwin - eh... versatility is nice I guess Hill/Hamels? Whatever, the more SP the better.
  4. They now have 7 starters and their 2021 payroll is up to 173 mil. They are out on Bauer and this move signals it.
  5. Rockies gm insists that they are not rebuilding ??
  6. Seems like a major win for bauer not liking or being liked by sexual harassers is a positive
  7. One quick comment - there is no bradley the hitter... its archie bradley, a very good rp
  8. I'm stuck working a lot in the current days but I hope to swing back around to this topic here and have a more enlightened discussion... As a fan... a) I hate expanded playoffs. Waters down the product. b) I hate the idea of starting late (because, of course, I want my beisbol) c) I want a salary floor on teams. Teams like the pirates/indians/rays should be forced to spend 100m or find an owner who will) d) I think this proposal was GARBAGE and the players had every right to reject it, mainly because it gave owners/commish complete control of the season. e) I am 100% for Universal DH. Looking at this proposal and *trying* to be unbiased about a future deal... a) Expanded playoffs are going to happen. It makes too much $$$. I would aim for a medium ground. Just a couple more teams or so. b) I would be OK with 154 games and pushing back Spring training if I were the playoffs, that's not a huge detriment. Maybe even doing 162 games with even less spring training. c) Obviously don't allow the commish to suspend season at owners will, that's stupid. d) Obviously take universal DH. I mean... the proposal is so close yet so far away because we can't tell if this was just one big marketing scheme from the owners. Perhaps the owners KNEW the players would reject it due to the control of the season the proposal demanded (through the commish) and made it look like such a great deal for the players. Maybe they wanted the players union to reject this deal to make them look bad. If that was the case, then the two sides are so far a part from making a deal it's a disaster. IF they offered this deal in good faith, then yes they'd be really close to making a win win deal here and gaining momentum towards a better baseball experience for everyone. But I think they are negotiating in bad faith and looking to propagandize the population here. Make the players look like the assholes rejecting 'reasonable' deals.
  9. So this is a tough one... First, Offseason has been bad. Not horrible, but bad. My generous grade of C- might be too generous. Let's get a few things clear: 1) The White Sox should have been willing to spend much more money. This is always going to leave a sour taste for me. We can't get around it, so with the limited budget we were working with, there's really no way to have an A+ offseason. We're aiming for like a B or B- offseason at best I guess. 2) TLR is an abomination. We can't wish it a way, so that's going to weigh the offseason down and now our max grade is like a C+. So, we can't change those two things. That sucks. Also, 3) we as fantasy GMs don't really get the whole free agency experience. Maybe Free Agent #1 just doesn't want to come to Chicago for whatever reason. We will never know. Anyway... My issues with the offseason: a) Eaton signing was stupid, shortsighted, too fast. We overpaid for an oft injured Eaton who is regressing and just had a terrible year. I'd take Eaton at like 3m as a prime Eaton is exactly what this team needs in RF, but we aren't getting that. We are getting a mediocre (at best) defender with little to no pop and little speed now. I'd look at any of the other options. b) Hendriks was an overpay. High chance that this contract bites us in the ass in 2 years or less. Closers just don't hold up extremely well. I think I would have rather signed like Archie Bradley + Brad Hand or something along those lines. Deepen the pen, lower the risk. c) Lynn vs. Dunning is a tough one. Lynn is a great addition but at only one year it's tough to bite. I would have tried to get more creative with Darvish/Snell. Would love to get the longer years of control. d) I'd focus my attention on a sign+trade. Signing one of Cruz/Ozuna and trading Vaughn in a package for a top starter would be my goal. Tough to pull off and easy to sit here on the sidelines and suggest... but it makes too much sense to me. e) Rodon is fine. Whatever, we need depth. Sign 1-3 more lottery ticket SPs. So, to me: Hand+Bradley > Hendriks (I save money and lower risk) Anything > Eaton (I probably save or equal money and have less risk of injury) Lynn/Snell/Darvish (either I get Lynn, or I get a better top of the rotation controlled starter. Darvish would cost me more $$$, Snell cost me more prospects) Sign+Trade (I'd increase budget getting Cruz or Ozuna and I'd lose Vaughn, but make the biggest increase possible without completely tearing the budget apart)
  10. No. Offseason grade c- being generous ill post more detailed response When off work you will want to hire me as gm
  11. I always lower expectations of rookies first time through. I think vaughn gets the call mid season and might struggle a bit
  12. You are wrong. Colorado dumping nolan is the win for them. Its a fine trade
  13. You are 100% right and bring up concerning questions, but as a DH you really only need him to be bat-first... in the other threads I was told that Eloy is going to be our LF for the next 2-3+ years so if we have the DH spot open Ozuna is one of, if not the very best to fill it. From my understanding, his underlying stats are all monsterous and he should be a very sure bet to hit well for the next 3+ years. In any case, this is all just wishful thinking anyway... Ah to dream...
  14. Yeah and pigs fly and cockroaches hit home runs
  15. I'd have np trading Crochet + Vaughn for Marquez and going out and signing a DH like Cruz or much more preferably Ozuna.
  16. This guy sucks. It's your topical white sox throw away millions of dollars move. Every offseason they have enough of them that you allocate together and you could have actually bought a difference maker . Seriously, Rodon+lopez = Garbage. I just hope that they have another SP signing because this only very marginally moves the SP Depth a touch. I'm fine with it if the team would go out there and spend, like yeah, Rodon is a nice lottery ticket, but 3 million for CWS feels so much more than what it really is in baseball terms. Feels like we just ended the offseason.
  17. Huh? The entire narrative in the past 2 weeks has been the White Sox have some limit where they can't spend over 3m. That's absurd.
  18. That would be acceptable, but so weak. Depth would be OK then, but quality would be garbage. Should reach for so much more. But again, they need to bring in 2 guys if they are going to bring in garbage so I agree.
  19. Not only that, but there is NO gurantee that Vaughn does anything of value for 2021 or 2022. He's still a prospect. A guy like Ozuna, on the other hand, just had a MVP caliber year in the big leagues and has had amazing years before. Monster hitter.
  20. I don’t buy that if an opportunity like this presented itself that some limit if 3m would stop it jr is a cheap clown, but not a complete idiot. maybe getting ozuna is wishful thinking on my end tho
  21. So? I don’t buy the white sox have some arbitrary financial limit. Adding two stars for only 19m
  22. Omg id love marquez plz plz plz trade vaughn in a package for marquez then go and sign ozuna
