QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 05:55 PM) EC's been amazing, and Gordon needs to get out of that cold streak Amazing? When he is going for 20, 10, and 2 we can consider his play amazing.

QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) Actually, before she started doing the Cubs pregame show, Gail Fischer was doing the Sox pregame show. IIRC, her last year handling the Sox telecast was 2000 during the playoff run. I thought she and Dave Otto didn't do a bad job when they did the pregame show in 2000. Otto kills me because the cubs run through his blood.

You are the only one who thinks this i think.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 05:53 PM) I can almost guarentee it won't be the 3rd seed. That will go to the division champ with the lowest amount of wins between the 3 divisional winners. That almost for sure will be the Atlantic winner. True, it will most likely be the fourth though if they won 47 games. I just don't see them winning 47 games. I guess it is possible, but they have to have a decent month this month, not even a winning month just something acceptable.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) I liked Melty and Damon Andrews. I hope they habe that duo again this season. Andrews now works in la so that would make it hard.

QUOTE(raff @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 12:48 PM) they are for real, they will win 47 games, putting them around 6th, they will upset someone in the first round, and then who knows. p.s. whoever said they wouldnt post on soxtalk for a month if the bulls made the playoffs, i havent forgotten you. 47 wins they will have the 3rd to fifth seed. That is how bad the easteren conference is.

I saw this on another board message board recently. Cannot remember where the hell i saw it though.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) I was just thinking the same thing. I'm just waiting for the...Bruce Levine Reports, Sox Sign Iguchi I think its going to happen. All signs point toward Iguchi in Black and Silver. Once that thread goes up, we should already know he was signed a couple days before.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) Definitely 11 arms & 14 bats (4 bench) Rotation: Buehrle Garcia Hernandez Contreras Garland Ozzie's rotation No skipped starts. No need for 12 arms w all the goofy off-days. Bullpen: Shingo Marte Hermanson Vizcaino Politte Adkins - or the best performer in ST. I don't think he's guaranteed a spot. Catchers: Pierzynski Bench - Davis Infielders: Konerko Crede Iguchi Uribe Bench - Harris, Ozuna, Valdez, FA - I don't think any one is guaranteed a spot here. Outfielders: Dye Rowand Podsednik Bench - Gload - guranteed. Bench - Perez - not guaranteed. DH: Everett Despite the $ spent, Perez is not guaranteed a spot. KW has to evaluate the team's need for a solid UIF vs the luxury of keeping Perez or Harris on the 25 man roster. Perez is tradeable has a LH bat who plays OF. Harris is tradeable as well. If the Sox sign a legitimate UIF FA who has shown their worth in ST one of these guys is likely gone. Which means Escobar would have to beat out Gload to get on this team. Doubtful. For one, perez is as guaranteed a spot of the 25 man roster as konerko is. He would be out fourth outfielder, not fifth. For two, what the hell kind of trade value does timo perez have? I say zip, zero, nadda, none.

QUOTE(Chisoxmatt @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) Yeah, Mark should have less innings this year now that we have a real 5th starter. Going on three days rest like buehrle and garland did a few times in 04 will certainly not happen again in 05. I like that Ozzie has it all planned out, but is it wise to have OH pitch 200 inn.? Wouldnt 170-180 be the ideal amount of innings for him? No, i think if he makes 150 we should be happ as hell. I am thinking more like 100 until his first injury. He is so incredibly fragile that it is ridiculous.
-
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) None of you listen to what Ozzie says. Do you? Ozzie has repeatedly stated NO SKIPPED STARTS! As long as all 5 starters remain healthy & effective they will all get a scheduled start every 5th day. This is going to considerably reduce the load on Mark & Freddy. They will have several 5 day rest periods between starts throughout the season. Ozzie has a target of 200-210 ip for each starter & an avg of 33 starts. Mark should be fine. Hernandez is the biggest risk. I hope Ozzie changes his mind. People have said this several times. It just has not been mentioned in this thread.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) Ford is not a guy who can give a team 150+ games in CF, but that's JMHO as an observer... I doubt this message board trade rumor ends up happening. I am sure jones can still play center. If he can, they can split the duties in centerfield.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) I forget his name, but he was an ex-sports anchor from channel 2. Real douche bag, who is a Cubs fan. I don't blame maggs and frank going down as are reason for the winning the division, i blame him. Once he took over the job the sox went into a tail spin.

QUOTE(black jack @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) does Noc have a nickname yet? the guy reminds me of a runaway train or bull out there. El Toro? it's kinds catchy and fitting. Noch, chapu, and el chapu.

QUOTE(babybearhater @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) exactly, it was one person who had an opinion on nelson, and three other people just blindly repeating him. If there was some evidence that Nelson was better than polite or hermanson, I would consider Nelson a valuable addition. But since he is not only 38 years old and coming off of an injury, he also is not better than what he have as right handed set up men. Bottom line-adding Nelson to our roster would make the pen weaker in my opinion. In the late ninties he was dominant, but now, he is just too old and too much of a question mark. I think the stats speak for themselves when it comes to who is better between politte, hermanson, and nelson.
-
QUOTE(babybearhater @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) if you are going to just keep repeating what addison says and reiterrating his points, just quote him and say "I agree with addison on every point" If there is to be an argument of whether you want nelson as your right handed set up guy, please make a point of how he is better than what we have, thanks Jabroni was wrong so that is why i asked if if he read the first post. Because if he did he would understand why this thread is where it is. Pretty easy to understand i think. Bottom line, if nelson is healthy, nelson>cotts, diaz, adkins, politte. You are blowing out of proportion how valuable a long reliever is, and a medicore one at best.

Wtf, how can we let the pistons shoot 42% from the field? How pathetic the bulls are.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) LMAO, Duhon's hittin 3's. Hey, his last six games now he is shooting over .400 from the field, including threes.

Pistons are cry f***ing babies. As are their fans, i would not be surprised if one attacks the refs, honestly.
