QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 04:41 PM) WAYY short on sp, very, very, one of the worst SP teams i've seen. However, you have GREAT relivers, and a Very good hitting team. Thanks for the opinion on the team. I suppose I could trade away Rivera or Wagner for better SP. I may see how this works in H2H for part of the season before I do that though. I think that I am really only hurting in Ws and Ks, but really good in ERA, WHIP, and Saves.
-
Thought that I would throw my team out there since I have some time. Yahoo 12 team H2H league. I seem to be short on pitching, but I am not sure what I would want to trade away to get more of it. C: J. Posada (NYY - C) 1B: D. Ortiz (Bos - 1B) 2B C. Utley (Phi - 1B,2B) 3B A. Béltre (Sea - 3B) SS F. López (Cin - 2B,SS) OF G. Sizemore (Cle - OF) OF B. Bonds (SF - OF) OF M. Holliday (Col - OF) Util B. Giles (SD - OF) BN B. Wilkerson (Tex - 1B,OF) BN J. Guillén (Was - OF) BN P. Feliz (SF - 1B,3B,OF) BN C. Barmes (Col - SS) SP Z. Duke (Pit - SP) SP M. Cain (SF - SP) RP M. Rivera (NYY - RP) RP B. Wagner (NYM - RP) P D. Turnbow (Mil - RP) P M. González (Pit - RP) P K. Escobar (LAA - SP,RP) BN B. Chen (Bal - SP)

QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 04:58 AM) I believe the terms each side uses to identify itself are pro-choice or pro-life. So, if you can justify using anti-choice, then ..... I am going to start using the "anti" words. So, I am now an anti-choicer, and the others are anti-lifers. I think that accurately depicts what each side believes.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 11:46 AM) There are also anti-choice Dems. Harry Reid...for example...a fact which could seriously derail any attempt to organize a firm resistance or filibuster in the Senate. I love the word "anti-choice" in here. Just a question of complete curiosity, did you think about it when using that word, or did it just come out? Not bashing or anything, just curious. Sometimes, I like looking at the words that are used when this type of thing is discussed.

I came at it thinking that there are very few top tier 3rd baseman, and some top tier pitchers, but there are a lot of OF that can easily be replaced. So, if Griffey or Wilson went down, it would not be too hard to replace. So, having them be injury prone was not much of a factor. I tried explaining why I vetoed, and he started explaining what he was thinking. So, I started to lean towards letting it go, but then some namecalling started and it got a bit ugly. Thanks for the input!

In one of my Yahoo Public leagues, someone tried to make the following trade: Á. Rodríguez (NYY - 3B) K. Griffey Jr. (Cin - OF) P. Wilson (Hou - OF) R. Johnson (NYY - SP) for D. Wright (NYM - 3B) B. Abreu (Phi - OF) P. Burrell (Phi - OF) J. Smoltz (Atl - SP) We vetoed this trade twice in my league since it seemed like it was too one-sided. The one guy got very upset about this, dropped just about all of his players and picked up all KC players (this was fixed by an Admin). Was this really a bad trade to veto? Has anyone else had similar experiences? If you want to check out the teams, the link is below. My team is VandySoxFan http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/117804

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 11:33 PM) The realm of science only includes things that can be tested. ID can't. Total and separate distinction with the two. I totally agree that evolution should be taught in a science class without any disclaimers since this is the best working theory that science can offer us based upon its assumptions. I would like to see this supplimented with teachings about the philosophy of the science. In order to say what it does, it needs to make certain assumptions, and I would like people to understand what these are.

Not good at all.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) I believe in total disclosure as fast as possible. Others believe that the government shouldn't have to answer to the American public, or if they do, on whatever time table the government wants. As I stated earlier, either one works, I just believe we are better served when the American public, via the media usually, is kept informed and there are no government secrets beyond certain obvious national security ones. When anyone in our government seems to have something to hide, I think we are best served when there are verified answers. I totally agree in disclosing as much as you can as fast as you can. However, how fast is fast enough? It is very easy to look back after everything has played out and say: "They could have done this or that faster or different." The thing about all of this is, HE JUST SHOT A FRIEND. Put yourself in those shoes. How long would it take for the shock to wear off? How long before you got your bearings? I cannot imagine shooting a friend in the face, and seeing them in the ICU. Then, to come up with the perfect way of doing things? I would try to give myself as much time as possible to be able to clearly discuss what happened.
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 08:26 AM) Well they acted like they had something to hide. If they were acting like they had something to hide, why would they tell the correct authorities and send this to the local press. Seriously, if they were trying to do a coverup, they were doing an incredibly poor job at it.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:58 AM) Obviously League 7 still needs some more players. Anyone that is interested in playing roto baseball, whether you are already in a league or not, please let me know by posting in either this thread or PM'ing me. I will not be starting a thread for the league just yet. There are still some pending spots in Leagues 4 and 8 (and I guess my league too, oops), which I will get back to you on as soon as I get in touch with the commissioners. Unless I screwed up somewhere, the following should be the only players without a league: kman sox4life14 joeynach vandy125 ScottPodRulez22 I'm like Timo, waiting for a league to play in. Seriously though. Thanks Zoom for setting all of this up! It sounds like a good amount of work!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060210/ap_on_...HNlYwMlJVRPUCUl Just wondering if anyone can say what this actually means. Did the government actually take in more money than spend in January?

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11261495/ I might have been right in my assumption that Jack-off knew Georgie Porgy. I gotta admit that if that information is true, then it sounds like Bush has closer ties than was admitted, but it is going to be hard to prove it. Anyhow, I found this part of the story kind of crazy: He was doing all of that other stuff, but definitely not traveling on a Saturday

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) You have to throw in father Bush when compiling a list of worst presidents of all time. Everything is his fault too because he is the father of George W Seriously, I'm seeing a list of these Presidents and am wondering what makes them the worst. I haven't been around long enough or studied long enough to know what they have done.

Count me in too. I am new.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 11:23 AM) I know that Northwestern said they couldnt fire him because he said this crap outside of his role as a faculty member. But cant they at least do a little "rm * -rf " work on his goofy website. That is their website and they can determine what goes up there. I'm surprised that they could not fire him for that. Haven't people been fired for things that they have put on their blogs? I think that in those cases, the companies have stated that the employees represent their employee even outside of work.

Voted...You are down 10 680-690. Good luck.

But he's a gold glove winner. That means he's the best fielding SS in the AL.....

I am actually glad to see all of this happen. They showed a complete lack of respect for the law and our judicial system. Sure a lot of kids drink in college before they are "of age", but the biggest problem I see is the attack at the judge.
-
You would have to think that Cuba would have already thought about their players trying to do this. I would guess that they would try to put something in place to ensure that it does not happen. What that would be, I have no idea.

Has anyone seen anything about whether or not these games will be showing outside of the Chicagoland area? If I remember correctly, they did this with the playoff games, but they were only shown in Chicago.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 06:41 AM) And YAS, what if having an abortion is being responsible for their actions? Isn't it responsible to not bring a baby into the world if one can't pay for it, feed it, take care of it, etc.? Wouldn't it be much more irresponsible to put them under the mountain of debt just from the birthing procedure costs? That sounds like a very dangerous argument to me. What else do you sacrifice because you do not think that you can do those things? Can we apply that argument to other issues... "Well, we cannot feed, pay for, or take care of such and such. Let's do the responsible thing...." You find a way to get it done. This is life that we are talking about. It is not something that you do not fight for. This is also why I am against the death penalty. I do hold out hope that people can change. You do not give up.

QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) I don't take much pride in knowing that a board mostly full of morons thinks that the Sox are a good team, but hey, thats just me. I'm not saying that I take a whole bunch of pride in it. I'm just saying that it is a bit of an indicator that we may see a bit of respect this year, and that is nice to see.

QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 06:17 PM) The fans on the ESPN message boards are morons for the most part. I wouldn't take that too seriously. Last year it seemed like everyone was asking "where is the respect?" It is nice to see us actually getting it. Why complain or dis it when it is happening now? Just enjoy it. Others are respecting the team.
