QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) canadian mcdonalds have deli style sandwiches. All hamburgers are made with backbacon.

ALSO, Glaus could play first, because the Carmines also have the Greek God of OPS (even though he isn't greek) in Kevin Youkilis.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) Nobody beats him. Iiii'm the Widge. I'm the Widge.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) That would also almost guarantee that the Twinkies had already given up on Morneau. I've heard he didn't get along with people...that would certainly seal that deal. The Twins would have to dump him if Thome could play. With his back problems, I think he would be a full time DH...or maybe, at the most, spell Morneau at first.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) Some of the rhetoric down here is so bad, if it was so innaccurate, it would be funny. If this doesn't pass, there will be gay and lesbian couples EVERYWHERE, we'll be OVERRUN! They will be in the SCHOOLS, at WORK, thousands of them, EVERYWHERE. KISSIN' and HIGGIN' I hear there are already plans for half of San Francisco to move to Texas. :headshake I guess I'll finally get to meet Rex. Well, gay couples already can't be foster parents, cuz, y'know, that gay stuff can rub off on the child and they can become gay. I'm tellin' ya, that closet in the capital is getting crowded.

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) i love ozzies foul mouth. Its about time we got some more foul mouths in baseball. Well, Larry Bowa is back coaching?

Also, don't discount the El Duque/Don Cooper factor. I think the best thing that happened to Contreras, besides getting out of NY, was Cooper as the pitching coach and El Duque in his ear. PLUS, having a lot of Hispanics on the team, including the manager. I bet a lot of teams have noticed that. Not saying he hasn't put it all together, but if I'm a GM, I would be weary of taking him away from the White Sox situation.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) Coop isn't going anywhere. Have the Yankees asked to talk to him?
-
A big key to this pitching staff is Don Cooper. If Coop stays, then there is a good chance this pitching staff will be BETTER next year. If Coop goes, the staff will stay the same (which isn't bad at all, obviously) or worse. so I think we should wait and see what Coop is going to do...if anything.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) 7 years? No way. See ya Paulie. Even if it works the first tow years you have a Thome situation after that. The Carlos Delgado bandwagon is starting its engine 3/$37 mil is still a lot of money unless we can get some money from Florida. But, it wouldn't be a bad option. Too bad MLB doesn't have sign and trades like the NBA.

Shoot, let em pick the Sox #2. As has been said, no one picked the Sox to win the WS in April...or even in October, for that matter. And who did? This team thrives on being the underdog. Which is what's different with this Sox team from the previous 5 or 6 Sox teams. They WANT to earn it. And they did. So, again, let em pick against the Sox...it'll just give them more fuel to repeat...or three-peat... Or eight-peat. *knocks on wood*

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) :headshake Not good. Tony...if someone came to you and said we want to talk to you about a job, wouldn't you listen to what they have to say? I certainly would. That doesn't mean you'll take the job, it just means you're listening. The Sox aren't out of it until the ink is on the paper.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 06:46 PM) I wouldn't mind at all if we made a full court press to lock up Buehrle at least a year before his last option year with us. Hopefully, a couple of rings, a comfortable situation, and a good friend of his on the pitching staff will give him some extra motivation to stay, if we're willing to pay him. Which we damn well better be. If it came down even to Konerko vs. Buehrle for dollars, I pick Mark. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) Frank's moving back full time. He'll be the only one here full time aside from Oz Jr who goes to college here, that I am aware of. I always thought that living where you play is a bunch of bull used to get a deal. I mean, come on, most of these players own more than one house anyway in more than one city, whether it's because of movement or tax shelter or whatever. It just doesn't matter. Of course, everyone wants to play closer to home, and with children, it makes it harder. But there are lots of people who work all year long and travel a lot and deal with it. PK will get the best deal for him, and more power to him.

Not in the Hall of Fame? I would think it would be in there.

Scooter Libby told me about this last Thursday.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 07:27 AM) The NY Daily News; The Yankees have nothing to trade. NOTHING! The only players I would want are Sheff and Cano. But, Sheff is old and they aren't dumping Cano...sooooo, Rowand to the Yanks is a slim to none possibility.

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) Consider yourselves lucky. Converting to gallons and into US dollars ours right now is around 2.95 with the high this month at around 3.48. http://www.winnipeggasprices.com/retail_price_chart.aspx Well, get those oil sands a-pumpin'!!! $2.39 last I saw here in Austin.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) Nice. You know what's great? The accapella version of that track with only isolated bass here and there. I have three different 12" singles for that song. I have damn near 30 Rakim singles altogether, actually. I'm a major vinyl nerd. I've just recently rediscovered Eric B. and Rakim. They were so ahead of their time. Anything you have loaded onto iTunes, perhaps? *shakes hands* Not that I would want any of those or anything.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) He may take slightly less money. Not some backloaded, incentive laden deal, with a buyout option. :rolly I think you are confusing the two...But when it comes down to it you will have to pay him to stay. If you match his best offer he will choose Chicago, if not wave bye bye to Paulie. rd5 is right. Get close, and I mean close, and I think Paulie would come back, but if you lowball him at all, he gawn. And I wouldn't blame him one bit. Jermaine Dye took less money, but he liked the team, liked the manager, and probably saw hitting in Comiskey 81 games a year as a HUGE opportunity. Which was right.
-
What I love about Jayson Stark is how excited he gets for stuff like that. And you know what, all of those numbers are very impressive.
-
As long as Paulie gives the Sox the last offer, I think we have a good chance of resigning him. Let's just hope he does that.
