  1. Saw this on ESPN's Daily Quickie...don't know what his sources are, but this could be a good thing.
  2. Just out of curiousity, who's Uribe's agent? I thought I heard it was Boras too.
  3. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) I think we are looking at this Urbina situation backwards. If anything, I think we need to consider that Phily has a guy who might make a decent DH alternative for us (Thome) if Konerko and/or Frank don't return. And they will likely have even more need for relief help, and from where I am sitting, we have at least one too many people in the bullpen (assuming Duque moves in). I think we should be considering dangling Marte, Hermy, Viz and/or some prospects (not all those, but some combination) Phily's way. I understand what you are saying about Thome...but no to him. Yes, he's from Illinois, yes he's a LHB, yes he's a power hitter. But, he's on the wrong side of 30 and has some serious back problems, which, for a power hitter, not so good.
  4. OZ-ZIE!!! OZ-ZIE!!! OZ-ZIE!!! OZ-ZIE!!! OZ-ZIE!!! OZ-ZIE!!!
  5. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) YEA! I'm famous, clear down in Austin. Even a Dallas fascist can say the occasional thing that us pinko commie liberals here in Austin might just agree with!!!
  6. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) WAIT JUST ONE MINUTE!!! Did you say FIANCEE????? You bed down your LADY out of wedded bliss???? Oh wait, that's not sinnin' - just them crazy homos wantin' to get hitched is sinnin'... I'm Jewish, I'm already going to hell...or have a place in heaven as one of the Chosen People, if you prefer. This is what I'd like to do to the blowhard jagbags in ANY state government that wants to be in my home like this:

QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) i'm in journalism at u of missouri, and they recruit kids out of our j-school, so i feel pretty good about getting a job out of school even if its but 35-40K coming out Is it really that high now? When I was coming out, back in the days before color television, starting pay at CNN was $13,500. Now, I know it's not like that now, but you can't tell me that there is anyway you will be making more than $25K coming out, can you?
  8. -Who's motorcycle is this? -It's a chopper. -Who's chopper is this? -It's Zed's. -Who's Zed? -Zed's dead, baby, Zed's dead.
  9. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) Dangit, what movie is that from canofcorn? The Usual Suspects. KAISER SOSE!!!
  10. Saw one of my fav. movies on cable yesterday and wanted to include this line: McManus: Old McDonald had a farm, e, i, e, i, o. And on that farm he shot some guys...bada boom, bada bing, bang, boom.
  11. I woke up this morning and had the Texas Legislature IN MY BED?!?! What the...? It's strange, cuz I thought government wasn't supposed to be in my house? I mean, there's my fiancee and there's Gov. Rick Perry right next to her. ^^^^^^^^^^ That's sarcasm. I voted against it, but I seriously considered kap's words when he said he didn't vote for or against because the government shouldn't be in our houses.
  12. Because all of the world's other problems are already solved...
  13. Smear the Queer (or Maulball if you prefer)...man that game was fun. Those remotes with four buttons...two silver, one black and one orange and they made that *click* sound everytime you would press them. Getting my dad a beer during ball games (and having a sip). One rubber ball and one spray-painted box on a brick wall and pitching a nine inning game. That feeling you got when you would sit with a girl you "liked" before you really knew what "liking" a girl meant. Oh yes, and All-Time Quarterbacks.
  14. As a baseball fan (not a White Sox fan), Santana prolly should have gotten AL CY. But, the fact that Buehrle and Garland were 5th and 6th bug me. They were better than Cliff Lee and depending on who you talk to, Rivera might not deserve the Cy Young because he's a closer. I'm not unhappy with the choice, nor do I really care that Mark and Jon didn't win. But, c'mon......
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 06:13 PM) stop being a homer.... Maggz hit .317 with a .380 OBP the year b4 his injury with an OPS of .926. Konerko had a lower avg, obp, and ops this season and thats with a career high OPS and OBP. Maggz had an OPS of .900 plus for 4 seasons in a row while last year was Konerko's first. Yes, but Maggz has a "hernia" or whatever he had this year. And an Austrian-repaired knee. I give Kong 4 years with 5th and 6th year mutual options with some sort of buyout. You no like...you go buh-bye. Also, this being a weak free agent class might HURT Kong as much as HELP. GM's might sit back and say, "Meh, I can wait a year and get who I really want." And low ball the crap out of who's out there. One never knows with these freaks.
  16. I have no problem with Colon winning it...he had a hell of a year. But Mark and Jon only getting 5 and 1 THIRD PLACE VOTE repectively? C'mon. That's ridiculous.
  17. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) As for which fans are worse patrons, all I can add to this is that I've been puked on at Wrigley in the bleachers. That's never happened at the Cell or the old Comiskey. We may be drunks. We may attack first base coaches. We may attack Laz Diaz. But at least we can hold our liquor!!!
  18. Couldn't get the map to work. But... Currently living in Austin, TX. Born in Skokie, IL. First game was a Cubs doubleheader in 1978 or 1979 against...ironically, the Astros. But, my grandfather is a Sox fan and most of my friends growing up were Sox fans. Yes, even in Skokie. But, I liked both the Sox and Cubs until 1983. The Winning Ugly Sox won me over.
  19. Happy Birthday...I hope you're hungover today!
  20. YAY!!! Add one to the roster of White Sox fans!!! Let's hope she doesn't feel the pain of the rest of us!!! Congrats.
  21. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) He might be, but he is only 31, and he shouldn't command that much money on the market after .240, 11HR, and 29 RBI. The Sox took a shot on AJ, Pods, JD, Uribe, and Gooch, and they all worked out pretty well. I think Doug still has 3-4 more decent years left, and his glove would be an upgrade. Just a thought. Pods BA was only .244 last year, and his OBP was .314, which was not that good for a leadoff man. The Sox took a chance and it worked out. I am just looking for a guy like Doug who like AJ, may just need a change of scenery to get back on track. His connection with AJ and his post season experience would be a plus. Maybe we should sign Jacque Jones and trade for Torii Hunter while we're at it? No to Doug. I already can't spell have the guys names on the Sox. But seriously, no to Doug, unless he is a replacement for Gload. He wouuld be a great late inning defensive replacement. But he can't possible replace the offense of Konerko, he was never a huge hitter.
  22. First of all: *bump* Second of all, my personal favorite from the Hudsucker Proxy: "Y'know, for kids."
  23. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) Thank you Kap. I'm not certain if my girlfriend will go for it. Or are you confusing Soxy with me? If that's so, you've been working waaaaay tooooooo much! Ya'll are welcome in the blueness that is Austin. Just stay away from 11th and Colorado...that's a little bit of Rick Perry Red. Whenever someone asks where in Texas I live, I send the blue/red county tracker from USAToday and say, "See that little speck of blue in the middle of alllllll the red? Yeah, that's me."
