Eat a Snickers?

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 10:17 AM) Maybe it's because he came from such a meager background that more dollars=more comfort. Think of it this way. We have him signed through the year. He doesn't have an extension. If we need something at the trade deadline, he's our man. And, hopefully, he'll be the pitcher he was last year...even 3/4 the pitcher and we should get something good in return. If we can't trade him, we keep him for the year and hopefully get the draft pick...I would imagine it would be a sandwich pick at least. If not that, he goes and gets whatever he wants, and we plug in BMAC, who will have one more year of experience under his belt. Kenny is dealing from a position of strength. We want the Count here, but we are prepared if he leaves. What a fantastic job by K-Dub!!!

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 09:11 AM) By the way mmmbeer... by leaving the household, not supporting your spouse, and forcing her to raise a child alone you are adding to the possibility of that child becomming a violent person later in life. Studies show that children raised in single parent households have a much greater chance of violently offending. I know it's your personal decision, and I don't judge you. But maybe with more facts you might be able to better make a decision... and possibly make the life of a child a wonderful one. Again.. hopefully you never have to ponder these things. But if a husband stays, and can't get over the hump of the child being born 1) because of rape and 2) not his biological child, can you honestly say that a 2-person, possibly loveless, maybe resentful relationship is better than a single parent? Staying together because of the kids, biological or not, isn't always the best answer either. That being said, I don't think I could handle it. But I've never been through this scenario. I have had a gf that was raped and I wanted to track the guy down and shove a hot poker up his ass...many times. And if she'd gotten pregnant, I don't know if I could've dealt with that child.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 11:28 AM) espn.com 2 years 15.4 million. 6 this year and 9.4 next avoiding arbitration both years. He is a free agent after 08. Isn't this a mild departure for Scott Boras? I know he doesn't trade away free agent years but I thought he only went year by year until then Well, he kinda did. Since Tex is arb eligible for two more years, I think he did well to get his client some money (probably more than he would've gotten in arbitration) for the two years and then can get the big money in '08. Now Tex doesn't have to worry, Boras gets his client to free agency and Texas has their 1b for two more years.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=1505255 Bill Clinton had to eat raccoon in order to become a major player in Arkansa politics. Seems kind of fitting with the way that most elections have become almost reality TV spectacles in their own right. Soon the merger of "Fear Factor" and the US political election system will be complete! And then he chose to eat raccoon whilst president! Although he said Monica tasted like chicken. As for this discussion...if you look at ANYTHING you eat, it's pretty disgusting. Whether it be a carrot that grows in the dirt...or the way they kill animals so we can eat them. Just shut up and try it. As my grandfather used to say, try it, if you don't like it, you don't have to eat it again.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) All I want Chevy to do is make a modern car with the exact same body as the '71 Chevelle, pack that puppy with all modern features and a nice sized engine (I really don't give a s*** about gas when it comes to this) and a similar interior and I'd buy it immediately. I love classic american muscle and would be in heaven if I owned my dream '71 Chevelle 454 SS with modern features. I want a '71 Chevette.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 02:04 AM) I'm a head elder at the church of Ben Affleck is a douche You know, every time I try to agree with a statement like the above (which is right, btw), I just keep thinking... "He may be a douche, but he's schtupping Jennifer Garner in a huge house and working maybe 100-150 days of the year while I'm sitting in this office reading about it and stewing. Yep, laughing all the way to the bank, he is."

I think this discussion pretty much sums up bias in a nutshell. It is nearly impossible for anyone to not show their true feelings at some time in their journalistic careers. And usually, the most controversial sticks with you. The problem to me is, when a media outlet gathers all of the same type into one network, a la Fox News. Hannity and Colmes is kind of what I'm talking about. Get some liberals, get some conservatives. The problem with that is, you get people turning it off when the person you don't agree with comes on. So, it ain't goin' away, deal with it.

I think we are missing a major point of these negotiations. The Sox are letting Dennis Gilbert, a former AGENT, negotiate with Boras. What this does, besides opening up talks between Boras and the White Sox, is put someone with a high bulls***-o-meter right in Boras' grill. Someone who doesn't have to get angry and rip him in the paper, but can say, "Hey man, I used to do this myself, we both know 'X', so don't try to put one over on me." KW has done some smart things in the past, but this has got to be one of the most genius things he's done, whether Crede goes to arbitration or gets traded or whatever. Pit agent against agent and let them duke it out.

I was originally The Dybber...an homage to one of my favorite nicknames (and mustaches) ever. Then as the Sox were playing so good last year, I didn't want to jinx the team after the '83 debacle. Soooo, I changed my name to my favorite Hawkism... Can of Corn. WWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

How does Sutter get in? Three words: split finger fastball. He may not have been the first to use it, but he was the first to master it when people started paying attention to that sort of thing. I think this will open the door to more closers. Go Lee Smith Go!!!

if players can leave...coaches can get fired...agents can demand holdouts and trades...he has every right to move on to a place where he gets paid more and may be more comfortable. No honor among thieves.

I think they need to stop using "5 Tool Players" and start using "6 Tool Players." Because 5 Tools is what, Speed, Power, Average, Defense, Arm. It should be: speed, power, average, defense, arm and SMARTS, hence 6 Tools. In fact, we should call it the Patterson Chart, just as a little kick-in-the-ass.

King f'in Kong. If I wanted to see a big fat man masturbate on screen for three hours I woulda rented Ron Jeremy movies.

Even though he isn't working right now...I'd put Theo Epstein up there. Maybe not top 3, but definitely top 5.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 08:50 AM) What I think hurts the game was execution was not even close to perfect and you didn't have a classic great offense vs. great defense type story line. It's very hard for any team in a bowl to have perfect execution, because they have so much time off inbetween their last game and the bowl game. That's why the first half was so off-kilter. You gotta go with what's been working and LenDale White was running all over the 'Horns using that same play with a 365 lb. (yeah, maybe when he was 12) guard pulling. I think it was the right call considering the 'Horns LB speed and the disappearing act of Rod Wright. Michael Huff and the defense made the correct adjustment. The defense beat the offense on that play.
