First time up...Standing Ovation... Second time up...Boo until I go hoarse. You get your respect ONCE and then you go to being an Oakland A DH. That's the way it is...if you feel disrespected, then I will pass on some good advice from Nigel Powers: If you have an issue, use a tissue.

Winnable? That's the wrong question. This isn't a win or lose proposition. We went in there for whatever reason you want to believe and blew up the country...literally and figuratively. What we should ask is...when the inevitable civil war breaks out, do we want to be there? What side are we going to be on? Cuz it's only going to get worse before it gets better. The question that remains to be asked is: How long are we going to stay?

Frank...shut the 'f' up and play. Don't talk...do. I mean, on the one hand, he talks about how he's disrespected by the White Sox and how they handled releasing him, and how he can't be around the team at the White House because it's uncomfortable. On the other hand, he talks about rushing back from injury because it's all about winning the ring for the team and, in his words, "We did it." Soooo, is it we or is it I? Just pick up the stick, hit the ball, and shut up. Either way, Frank, you are going into the Hall as a White Sox, so you might as well kiss and make up now.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 11:28 AM) Here are some ideas from a website I just found: The Hustle - Van McCoy Love's Theme - Love Unlimited Orchestra Feels So Good - Chuck Mangione Rise - Herb Alpert Popcorn - Hot Butter That's all I can stand, so you're on your own..... I have some of those. Feels So Good is too slow. The Hustle...well, I wouldn't listen to it with your ears. And Popcorn would probably drive people away, but that's a good one and I totally forgot about it. Thanks.

My employer has a big party for her birthday/company anniversay every year on April 1st. This year, she turns 50 and it falls on a Saturday. The theme is Studio 50. I edit a video using all of our work from the previous year and need some help in choosing a disco song to go with the theme. I know a lot of disco songs, but what I am looking for is something that is upbeat, that is known, but not widely known. Examples of what I am NOT looking for are "Stayin' Alive," actually, pretty much anything from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. Lookin' for something kind of like "A Fifth of Beethoven." Different, not necessarily Billboard Top 10 material, but something that, when you hear it, you would go, oh yeah, I know that song. As an aside, since I will have to hear this song quite a bit during editing, please pray that I don't stick a sharp object into my ears.

In 20 years, the only difference between $10 mil and $14 mil is R-E-S-P-E-C-T. That's it. Maggs thought he was being lowballed and he took the money. I think most of us would do that. His quote is more a slap in the face to the Tigers than it is to the White Sox, cuz, well, the Sox don't care. But, if I could have whispered into Maggs ear, I would've had him say this. It's hard to see ANY team other than your own win the World Series and I'm going to do my damnedest to get the Tigers their own World Series ring.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 05:45 PM) The numbers you always hear make it seem like 90% of men are with the same 10% of women. THEY AREN'T?!?! This is my favorite line... "Men are twice as likely to use rough approximation to answer the question," What's a "rough approximation" of sex? Except the first time, of course.

What Bryant seems to be missing is that the Olympics aren't really about the sports...the Olympics are about the athletes. They are about 34 year old mother's winning gold in speed skating. About gold medal winners giving their won money to charity. About 52 year old women competing in luge for Venezuela. Why do you think the Jamaican bobsled team was so popular? Because they were black? Because they were bobsleding? NO, because they were from Jamaica!!! Bryant has his ego so far up his own ass he's blowing s*** bubbles. and.....scene.

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) "Try not to laugh when someone says these are the world’s greatest athletes, despite a paucity of blacks that makes the games look like a GOP convention. And try to blot out all logic when announcers and sportswriters pretend to care about the luge, the skeleton, the biathlon and all those other events they don’t understand and totally ignore for all but three weeks every four years. Face it: These Olympics are little more than a marketing plan.” If a white announcer said " The paucity of whites makes it look like a NAACP convention" He would be fired the next day. Gumbel is a f***in douchebag. Some of these atheltes work their entire lives to be on the olympic team and they are not the world's greatest atheltes cause it isn't a balck dominated sport?? Last I checked...Scandinavia is not overrun with black people doing the nordic combined. Sorry Bryant, but some of us enjoy seeing some of those sports like luge and skeleton. I have to second your douchebag remark...so I will...Gumbel is a f***in' douchebag.

Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity: I wish I knew how to quit you, Goatee. Goat: Baaaaa.

And if it is health related...how dumb are you naysayers gonna feel? Amazingly enough, Raines will be at the games too, so he can still time the pitchers from the bench and tell them when they get back to the bench.
-
Didn't Raines manage a Single A team a couple of years back? I'm thinking it's probably a combination of lupus and wanting to manage down the road. The White Sox want Raines to succeed, at least it looks that way, and maybe this helps him along the career path.

QUOTE(soxhawks @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 06:04 PM) Does anyone think the sox should give him a shot and try to bring him in maybe as a non roster player I say...give him a chance...in the front office.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) And I thank God every day for making that band go away. Now if we can only get rid of Coldplay...

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 11:17 AM) He did lead all Rf'ers in HR's last season, and was the MVP of the WS. I dont know if that means hes in the B category. To me, it does. He's not better than Guerrero, Abreu or Ichiro, but he is better than average. So, I'll bump him up to B+, but that's based on last year only. Career wise, I think he's a solid B.

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 01:14 PM) I think the first one was pure relief. If we win a 2nd one it would be sweeter. And once you FINALLY get a taste of it you become addicted to winning it all over again. (See Michael Jordan's Bulls of '92,'93,'96,'97 and '98) You forgot one: '91. But, I know what Balta is saying...if the White Sox win it all again this year, it's just going to stick it in the faces of all the guys who dislike or thought the Sox got lucky last year, but if they don't win it all...hey, we got one in my lifetime and that's GREAT!!! I'm happy either way. Or course I want the success to continue...but I'm not on edge like at the beginning of the other 34 years of my life when Spring Training comes.

A little off topic, but I was listening to Randi Rhodes last night, and let me tell you, as a Democrat myself, I was embarrassed. What are these people doing? She was talking about how she's just a normal woman who wants to see justice being done. Then she went into the Cheney shooting and how she thinks this administration isn't above the law, but IS the law because they didn't release the info for 24 hours. C'mon...it's embarrassing, that's why they probably didn't say anything. Anytime a hunter accidently shoots a buddy, it's embarrassing. It doesn't say anything about Iraqi policy, Halliburton, No Child Left Behind, etc. These left and right radio stations are ridiculous...I say take them all off the air. And I say to Coulter...let her swing. Anyone who can be famous for thinking she's smarter than everyone else by using 4th grade recess tactics should be thrown in a room and left there with copies of FHM and GQ for eternity.

How's that religion thing working out for you, Scott? Kid, I would expect nothing less.

But you have to admit, he's a classy guy. Especially after that last quote in the article. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does on BT.
