  1. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) Lindsay Buckingham? Who the fock is she? Pardon me. Lindsey Buckingham.
  2. QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) With how well he has been hitting, do you bat Crede 5th? I would think about it...and then...no, I want him to scare people near the bottom of the lineup.
  3. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) What's a fountain? I guess I needed the green and the . . . For five summers in high school/college I was the guy in the hotdog cart selling green hotdogs, stale chips, and flat soda to the tourists at Buckingham Fountain (sorry if I got any of you sick). So, yeah, I caught a glimpse or two of the CNA building during that time. When did Lindsay Buckingham get a fountain?
  4. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) After what happened in the last series, I say bring either one on! Pettitte is dinged up. Clemens is dinged up. Oswalt is a damn good pitcher and the only one that really scares me. Besides Pujols and Eck, who do the Cards have? Sanders, Edmonds and Walker are a combined 354 years old and all have bumps and bruises. They don't have Rolen, they may not have Nunez. We've shut down two Molinas, what's one more? The White Sox will be healthy, rested and riding a FOUR game win streak. I'm not saying we won't lose a game or two (or maybe three), but I can't see either of those teams winning. *takes off rose colored glasses*
  5. QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 09:39 AM) this is why we need the astros to win. i am way more afraid of the cards. eckstein gives me a headache too. why are we afraid of Pujols? We beat down Unfrozen Caveman Centerfielder, Big Papi and ManRam (ouch, that just hurts to say). We beat down Chone and Vlad. Who's to say we can't beat down Eck and Pujols? Let Pujols hit all the solo shots he wants...as long as we can keep Eck off the basepaths. I'm not afraid of either team and I think we can win either in 6.
  6. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) Those last two sentences, when I read them yesterday, made me cry. I heart you, Frank Thomas. I think this would be a LOT harder for him if he didn't play at all this year. But since he added some big time battage in the middle of the year, I think (and hopefully) the team thinks, he contributed to the success this year. BTW, I don't know if you guys saw it, but when Dan Roan was interviewing Big Frank, AJ came up to him and said, "Get outta here, you didn't do anything," to Frank and he just laughed.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:04 PM) Holy cripes did he clobber that. I don't know why, but that made me laugh.
  8. I may go. The downtown area, where the ballpark is, has been revived. It's a nice place to be. There's a hotel across the street (I don't remember the name of it). Things to remember about Houston: no zoning, so you can have a million dollar home next to an oil change shop. Also, it's called silicone city because the first breast implants were done here. There are also lots and lots of strip clubs. Bars close at 2. There are lots and lots of strip clubs. The Rice University campus is beautiful. There are lots and lots of strip clubs. Hope to see you there.
  9. ...the guy I met a couple years ago in the bleachers and then saw him the next day at a Cubs game working a Mai Tai stand in the bleachers (work tickets and my fiancee wanted to go). When I asked him why he went to Sox games and worked Cubs games he said: "I go to Sox games cuz they are my team. I work Cubs games to make a lot of money." Here's to you, man.
  10. Wow, something even Gene Simmons can be jealous of.
  11. QUOTE(Yoda @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) The sequel to the original Exorcist was pure crap! :puke Actually, Exorcist 3 was pretty good. Not Oscar winning material, not even in the building with Oscar...but entertaining.
  12. When, in those last three years, did the Twins win the pennant? Oh that's right...they didn't. So I guess the White Sox DO have more talent than the Twins!!! :finger
  13. Jenks also has or had a little problem with the alcohol. I wonder how recovering alkies do with celebrations like that. I mean, you can't really spray sparkling grape juice around, can you? That just makes everyone sticky.
  14. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) I'll readily admit I was worried - I never gave up hope, and I never jumped off the ship, but especially during that 4-10 stretch in September I had some BAD feelings about it. As it turns out, the Cleveland uprising was probably the best thing that could have happened to this team. Having some seriously important games in late September seems to have renewed their focus and intensity, and it's paying off now! I agree. Where's the choke crap now? They took three of four from the Twinkies, split with Detroit, swept the vaunted Indians, swept the vaunted Red Sox, and nearly swept the Angels. This team got the wake up call it needed and they have confidence that they can either win big, win small, or comeback against anyone. I'm more excited now than I was for the Bulls, the Hawks, and the Illini in 2001. Only the Bears got me as crazy as I was last night. Again, congrats to all of us and let's go out there and win one for the Veecker!!!
  15. The Astros pitching isn't all that good outside of the four you mentioned. Springer, Wheeler, and Backe can be hit. Clemens, I think, is hurting after watching him in the game against the Cards. I think I would rather face the Cards right now, but selfishly (because I'm in Austin and want to go to a World Series game) I want to see the Astros win. One team that hasn't been to a World Series in 46 years and one team that's never been there. That will be fun.
  16. Rally Crede! Clap! Clap! Clap clap clap!!!
  17. When Iguchi CLEARLY didn't touch 2nd, that was a chance for the Angels to do some damage. Did they? No. Quit your b****ing and play the game. Umpires don't make you look flat. Umpires don't run down to first for you. Umpires don't bat for you. When you go home and kiss your World Series ring, remember THESE White Sox weren't even BORN the last time they made it to the Big BIG Show. So shut it and play game 5 like you mean it.
  18. Win it for...my grandfather, so he may see a White Sox winner before he passes on. Win it for...Old Comiskey Park, churros, Nancy Faust, Andy the Clown, Jimmy Piersall, Bill Veeck. Win it for...all the people who never saw a White Sox World Series. Win it for...every single player on the 1919 Chicago White Sox Team. May they FINALLY rest in peace.
  19. No instant replay. I'm sure MLB doesn't want to pay for it, but one way to solve the fair/foul, fan interference calls is to have 6 umps for every game like in the playoffs. As for instant replay, in football, it's supposed to be 90 seconds, right? And many times, it goes over, sometimes waaaaay over. Baseball games, except when the White Sox are pitching, are too long to begin with. Finally, for Boston Dirt Dogs, no amount of replay will put the ball in Graffanino's glove (or Buckner's for that matter).
  20. QUOTE(hi8is @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 02:14 PM) fox = the angles b**** You sober again, hi8is? Anyway, if yesterdays game doesn't put that "controversy" to rest, than nothing will. As it's always said, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

    Mariotti

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) pass along the info to the sun-times Who is this Mariotti you speak of?
  22. hi8is rawks... He should be BANINATED!!!
  23. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) There is one Synagog for an area with over 250,000 people by me. One! I would imagine there aren't too many Jews fleeing Mexico for religious freedom down by you. Although, there are probably a lot of up-and-coming police chiefs fleeing Nuevo Laredo!!!
  24. Andrew Dice Clay...where have ye gone: There was an old lady Who lived in a shoe She had so many kids Her uterus fell out
  25. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 09:15 AM) It isnt our pitchers I am worried about. Its our hitters. We just got blanked by a guy who is 2 days removed from a 100 degree fever, and only got two runs off of a guy who had 3 days rest. The Sox also havent scored on their bullpen yet. The bats have to get going. I think going to Anaheim is the best thing for the Sox right now. Get outta Chicago, step away from the pressure of home fans, be booed, be the underdog, and punch Dan Patrick on the way. Actually, I like DP. He was definitely better with Dibble, but he can have his opinion, that's what sports radio is all about. The more you write nasty emails and shout obnoxious comments, the more fuel is added to the fire. All I can say is...cheer hard and cheer loud for the White Sox and the rest will take care of itself. EDIT: And when I say "you" I mean White Sox fans, not anyone in particular.
