10-1 Game Thread - Charlotte @ Cleveland
CanOfCorn replied to Heads22's topic in 2005 Season in Review
You didn't ask me, but I don't care who we play. In fact, I don't think the Sox care who they play. If this team continues to play they have the last week, I believe they can take anyone on and win. -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) That sounds like a normal, late night, ride on the El. Alright, Tom Cruise...that scene in Risky Business didn't really happen. And, after having ridden the L for many years, saw that movie again and thought, EEEEEEEEWWWWWWWW!!!!!!

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 04:01 AM) What are you talking about? Magglio has a pretty good arm too. Not as good as Dye but he had a lot more range than Dye in the field too. He doesn't anymore...not with that crazy Viennese knee surgery.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) I have been impressed with the offense over the last few days. Hopefully they will keep hot going into the post season. The pitching wont be a problem in the playoffs. It will be the ability for our offense to score runs. If they hit like they did over the weekend the possiblities are endless. Kazmir goes against the Injuns I think on Wednesday. That will make it tough. He is a hard throwing lefty and undefined give them fits. Unfortunately, "should" is the key word. The way the Indians have been playing lately, who knows? But, they will hear me cheering in the Pulp Dome from Texas this week.

I was flying through Houston on my way back to Austin yesterday and we flew over highway 59, and I-45 and I-10. It was PACKED!!! And all of the people on the plane, as soon as they could, called home and started making plans to get to the Austin area. There are no rooms here and they re-opened some of the shelters that were used for Katrina evacuees. The airport was packed and had 20 stand-bys on my flight. I heard that someone tried to get out of Houston, left at 10:30 last night and gotten 50 miles...THIS MORNING AT 8:30!!! That's 5 miles an hour people. Ridiculous. Kap, good luck if it comes your way...we'll be battoning down the hatches here tonight.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) I like the NCAA system just fine. If I were to make a change, I would consider making each team start 5 yards farther back in each subsequent OT beyond the first (no farther than the 50 though). Defenses are often so tired when games go to multiple OT's it is too easy to score. Moving the starting spot back would give them a little more margin for error even if giving them more ground to cover. I LOOOOVE your change to the system. If you start them at the 40 or 50 to begin with, then you can go through a couple of OTs with 3-and-outs, and that's not exciting. But starting at the 25 is a little ridiculous, if you have a good kicker, all you have to do is play to the middle of the field and maybe get another 5 or 10 yards. BUUUUUUT, with Rexy's system, the scoring still happens, but it gets progressively harder for each team. Great idea Rex.

If ANY pitcher can't get fired up for this kind of game, he shouldn't be starting. KC? TB? I can understand not getting fired up...but THIS game...COME ON!!!

Maybe there should be an umbrella organization called Scouts of America? Then there can be the BSA the GS and then the Scouts of America which will be co-ed? BTW, I am absolutely sick of the political correctness of this country. I have no problem with girls as a scout, but if there is going to be a separation, then keep the separation. If there's no other choice, then fine, like a girl on the boys wrestling team.

Don't discount the D-Rays. They beat up on the Yankees (except for last night) and have been playing better recently. The Royals are only playing for next year. These are what we call spoilers. Neither team has anything to lose and are playing for roster spots. They scare me more than the Clevelands and 'Sotas of the world because we KNOW those two will be tighter coming into a series. D-Rays and Royals play looser. Well, the D-Rays will.
