With all due respect to ChiSoxyGirl, marriage is a flawed institution all around. We have a 50% divorce rate for a man and a woman. That includes all religions in all states. Who are we to judge when we can barely make marriage work half the time. Actually, marriage isn't about legal issues or social issues or religious issues...it's about the love of two people. And the fact that it's been debased and sunken to legal and religious arguments kinda makes me sick. Gay couples in civil unions or marriages should have the rights and priviliges of a heterosexual couple...hands down. But since we can end a marriage on "Irreconcilable Differences," we shouldn't have any right to tell anyone what makes a true marriage. Whew. I'm tired now.

Don't forget who owns this team...Pohlad has had the Twins on the block for what 5 years? Each year they get into the playoffs. That's more money in his pocket. Normally, that would lead to an increased payroll. Pohlad is trying to make the Twins look financially viable. I agree with beck...no big FA signings for the Twins.

Even though i haven't read moneyball...I would think that you would need someone to drive in those runs. Chavez is that kinda guy, but I wouldn't trust Durazo or Hatteberg to continue to put up RBI numbers. You need someone other than Chavez. konerko would be that guy. I think both sides would have to offer a little more than straight up, whether it be money or prospects. What about Konerko plus a prospect and the Sox pick up 2/3 of his salary for Hudson and one or two above average prospects?

CD's will no longer be called Compact Discs...they will be called Corn Discs. If only they could make them edible. Now, THAT would be something.

With all due respect to all of you that have posted to this thread: this isn't about the candidates or the parties, this is about the American people. The American people don't like two things...change and candidates without personality. We are familiar with Dubya and Kerry isn't warm like Dubya is. Or Clinton was. Or Reagan was. Or Bush Sr. was. I read a really interesting article in Newsweek this last week. It was using George Washington's policies as related to todays problems. The last paragraph said something like this (and I'm paraphrasing): To be the president, you can't pander to the people, you have to deal with what's best for the PUBLIC. In other words, a president has to do what's best for the COUNTRY as a whole, not the people. I don't think Iraq was good for the country. i don't think changing the Constitution to ban anything is good for the country (we tried it once, it's called Prohibition, and it didn't work). Unfortunately, that's what the state of politics is these days...pandering to the people. But, I definitely think Bush is dealing with the people and I was ready for a change. I hope to God that Bush (since he's a lame duck prez now) will try to work with the Democratic party, leaders overseas, etc. and not go into another "Axis of Evil" country unilaterally. Cuz, no one is going to help us the next time around. I will support Dubya as the Commander in Chief of our country, but honestly, as a voter, I have earned the right to b****. Anyone know the way to Canada?

If one of the three A's pitchers are TRULY available...we gotz to make a play for them. Mulder may be the weakest, but if I remember correctly, he's from the Chicago area and i thought he was a Sox fan growing up (although I could be mistaken). He may pitch better for a hometown team. I would steer clear of Zito, unless we can get him relatively cheap, like two or three borderline prospects. Hudson, on the other hand, I would break the bank for. He's young, he's talented and talk about this rotation... Hudson Buehrle Garcia Contreras Garland Woo...let's play right now!!!

convicts...no. They take all privileges away (except for the working out, getting your education, making license plates privileges). Ex-Cons...i think they are. Once you've served your time, you are allowed all of the privileges of an American citizen. I believe that's the way it is.

I agree. Then we can put up an Oscar Gamble statue...although the 'fro would probably block the sun for anyone within a 5 mile radius.

I wish they would've said what the test was? Soft toss? Throwing off the mound? Just his knee? Fast balls only? Damn Mariners, why won't they tell the world how well Everyday Eddie is doing?
-
He would look nice in a Sox uniform if healthy, though. And it would be nice to do to the Twins, what he did to us for all those years.
-
How could it cost us $7-$8 mil when they just declined a $6 mil option? I think we could get him for $2-$3 mil with lots of performance clauses. Maybe an extra mil for 30 saves, 35 saves, and 40 saves. If he reaches 45 again, the second year of the contract would automatically be picked up. Just a thought.
-
I wonder if he'll play this year? He doesn't have to with the Bulls paying him 10 mil whether he plays or not. Plus, does anyone want this guy????

Hey Spataro...keep posting... /STILL checking out avatar.

Rock, willie...Willie, Rock...ok, introductions have been done. Willie, you've got 5 months to learn how to steal a base. You too, Juan.

If Caballo is traded, could that mean that K-Dub has another trade in the offing for an OF? Maybe a Danny Bautista would be included in a trade with 'Zona? Or perhaps a three-way trade with someone? I do have faith in K-Dub that he has a plan to replace CLee if traded. Thoughts?
-
If that's the case, let's hope Anderson or Sweeney make a BIG impression at camp (that is, if they are still here)...or else it's the sweet swing of "The Borch" in right.
-
Two words: Les Expos. I understand that this is their job, but if the team doesn't put any effort into it, it sure as hell would seem to me that the players wouldn't either. Not that it's right to do that, but that's the way it is. I agree...yay to Big Frank, yay to Shingo, meh to Jurassic.

Apparently, most sports fans dont think much of us

Hands down...'94. We had the tools, we had the talent!!! :fyou Reinsdork!!! -
Speaking of which, what do the Sox get out of their Pepsi half-price Tuesdays? Does Pepsi pick up the difference? Or do the naming rights of that night cover the half-pricedness? Just curious.
-
I say the Cards take 2 also, but the Red Sox have the luxury of having a manager that has been in the NL. So, he understands the nuance differences. Plus, I may keep Millar at 1B. I know Ortiz is the better hitter, but their defense has been horrible the last two games. Millar ain't no JT Snow over there, but he's definitely better than Big Papi. Ortiz would be good for some pop off the bench. JMO.

No way Spurrier comes to Champaign. Even if you added Savoy, Tolono and even reached out to Danville, there is no way his ego would fit. Guenther should make a STRONG push for Urban Meyer at Utah.
