  1. Really? The Yankees won again? It's like kissing your fat, ugly sister. Blech.
  2. Numerical Conversation Thread...I'll start: 1
  3. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 2, 2009 -> 08:34 AM) Iowa State vs. Black Hills State tonight - it's on like Donkey Kong. "Come to Black Hills State and be on our basketball team! And any other team you wanna be on!"
  4. I don't understand what bat we are replacing? I love JD and what he did for the Sox while he was here...but he's done with the team. As has been said many times, the Sox want to get younger, faster and more athletic. That doesn't translate to home runs. The Sox don't need big boppers. They need guys who can hit 25-30 because in the Cell, that translates to roughly 30-35. They want to manufacture runs, not Earl Weaver them. That doesn't work...they've tried it. I don't think you are going to see any big signings, but possible an above average LH 4th outfielder that's going to rotate into DH.
  5. It's the AL Central...EVERY team needs a bump in notoriety.
  6. You also have to balance out the difference of points scored by BG vs. points allowed by player he's guarding. Yes, he will be missed on the offensive end, but Salmons/Hinrich/Pargo will do a much better job defensively. I'm not sayin'...I'm just sayin'.
  7. I always liked the old MSU helmets...with the "S" on one side only. Then again, my second favorite helmet (and team) in the NFL is the Steelers, so there you go. And two choices for next head coach at Illinois: Randy Edsall or Gary Patterson. (my personal choices)
  8. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) Wearing a pig snout mask around the nose, medical mask around the mouth. Still thinking of more details other than that. Maybe you can somehow attach a nasal spray bottle to the nose...to represent the vaccine?
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 06:10 PM) I actually agree with that idea in principle, however, two problems. One, that move would bankrupt the US Catholic Church instantly, and might do the same to the Mormons. Two, you will have a hard time defining what is really used for "worship" or church business, and what is not. In some cases, yes. For instance, my father-in-law is a minister for the United Church of Christ. They bought the house across the street from the church...Why? For parking. To me, that is not used for worship. I know the arguments...but the house that sits on the lot is being used for retail during the week. and Sunday too, but they open after Church lets out. Now, if that house is used for something else, like a parsonage or an annex, then yes. But to use just for parking...no.
  10. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 08:37 AM) I'd love a governator like that.Which is why Texas should vote Kinky! Do you have a gubernatorial election this year? Is Kinky running again? Is Adios, Mofo running again? Gimme the scoop, I need a Texas politics fix!
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 02:04 PM) Buckeye fan, I'll be at the game. After that: Drunk and blacked out Buckeye fan. Not much of a costume since all Buckeye fans are drunken, rowdy fools!
  12. FlaSoxxJim is a wealth of useless knowledge. Well, useless to 95% of the world, anyway.
  13. I'm thinking I'm going to be me circa 20 years ago. All grungy with multiple flannels and pegged pants and long hair (at least I still have some) and Chuck Taylors and thermals...
  14. Not to hijack the thread...but I will. What if the law was changed to have tax-exempt status only on land actually USED for worship? So, if a church buys a building across the street as a income property, that wouldn't be tax exempt. Just a thought...

  16. Ugly little bastards, those opossums.
  17. Two things: One, preparing a question or two is great, but for a first interview, don't make it about your specific job. Make it about the company. For instance, "I just saw the local business journal named you one of the top place to work for, what is it about your company that your employees like?" This lets them know you've done your homework, which is a good thing. Two, this is the best advice I ever got for interviewing. Sit back, shut up and listen. Make your answers short, don't go off on tangents that don't relate to the question, don't interrupt and listen to what/who they are looking for. If you do that, your answers to the following questions come easier because you can tailor your answer to what they are looking for. If you are truly listening, this isn't hard. Trust me, I was nervous about this in my last interview, but I sat back, shut up and listened and I nailed the interview.

  19. Jelly and peanut butter sandwiches are yummy.
  20. First mistake...DON'T GO TO MOTHER'S! What...did they think they were going to run into Rob Lowe and Demi Moore? Still...as a Chicagoan...I am embarrassed.
  21. QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 05:58 PM) Your shuffle has a much wider variety than the one you mentioned before. But never mind my opinion.....what does Ellen's penis think? I don't know what Ellen's penis thinks. Let's ask her...Portia, what do you think?
  22. The race doesn't provide parking? That's kinda strange. I would look for something along Marine Drive.
  23. Very good conversation...for sleeping.
  24. They called that game pretty tight for both teams, Tony. Huet looked good again tonight except for one or two rebounds. This team is going to get better and better. Can't wait for Hossa and Eager.
