  1. QUOTE (hogan873 @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) Preston Wilson is the step son AND nephew of Mookie. Quizzical.
  2. I have met his wife and all I can say is... RRRRROOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRR! Too bad she has horrible taste in men.
  3. Happy Birthday! Hope your chaos continues to stay controlled.
  4. Happy Belated Birthday, Yas! Now if you can only remember where you put the computer.....
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 01:23 PM) Kindly refrain from maturbatory suggestions....oh wait, you said juggling. Leave it to Beaver. (Not the TV show, but what I do instead of masturbating)
  6. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 01:20 PM) There are very few hitters who put up a consistent performance from month to month and these are generally the super elite of the league. a good .800 OPS hitter is typically going to have a couple .900 OPS months a .680 month or 2 and the rest will be somewhere in the .700's. You're not getting six .800 OPS months. Case in point: Adrubal Cabrera, not an elite hitter but he had a damn good season in 2009 finishing with 42 doubles (16th in baseball), 6 HR, .308 AVG, .799 OPS and .354 wOBA. A very valuable ballplayer putting up numbers that most teams would love to get out of a middle infielder. Did his gap power maker him a more consistent hitter from month to month? .329/.877 .313/.773 .231/.538 .262/.743 .370/.915 .276/.734 no, no it didn't. What about a 10 HR/40 2B, .300 hitter like Alberto Callaspo? Look Stat-y Stat-erton... Would you say a gap hitter would put more productive balls-in-play over the course of the season rather than the pop-out/fly-out/double play balls we've seen from the White Sox home run hitters? Personally, I could care less about month-to-month AVG/OBP is the outs are productive outs. Moving runners over, sacrifices, putting more pressure on the defense to make plays. And whether or not you consider that consistency, I do.
  7. According to the Worldwide Leader ™, MLB Rumor Central had an *idea* to trade Jenks for Milton Bradley. Let me repeat that *idea*...Jenks for MILTON BRADLEY! Here's the deal, if Bradley weren't an utter and complete headcase, I might like the move. Yes, it does create a hole in the bullpen, but it closes a hole in the line-up. BUT, just close your eyes and imagine an Ozzie/Milton clubhouse. Wow. That has the potential to get ugly. REAL ugly. Thanks but no thanks, ESPN.
  8. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 01:00 PM) But HR hitters should hit more HR since a flyout to the warning track in most parks is a HR at the Cell. You could also argue that the small outfield of US Cellular Field would limit a gap hitter's opportunities to find the gap. I could argue that, but then I would show you 28 doubles by one Gordon Beckham. Of course, he did have 16 doubles in 204 ABs on the road (1 every 12.75 AB) vs. 12 in 174 ABs at home (1 every 14.5 AB), so I guess that proves your point. Expanding it out, though, as Thunderbolt says, gap hitters should be more consistent throughout the year and regardless of park.
  9. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 12:18 PM) PS what is it with the Sox and all this "gap hitter" nonsense? This team needs some f***ing power. We already have the King of Gap Hitters and we just moved him to 2B. Because gap hitters will hit more HRs at the Cell, while HR hitters won't necessarily hit more doubles.
  10. With the 'hawks hurting so bad with their top two centers out...instead of playing Hendry as a forward...how about Campbell? They need offense and he can provide that. By the way...ugly shorty there.
  11. I wonder if that Dye guy has anything left in his tank. /laughter.
  12. No love for the 80's an 90's Bulls introductions? Thunderstruck?
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 03:02 PM) If the Sox make a bigger splash to fill the OF spot, than I think Thome is a great fit. If we go cheap or give the job to Danks, than I think the team needs to get an impact bat for the DH spot and that bat wouldn't be Thome at this point, imo. ^^^^^^
  14. Teahen isn't special, but neither is Getz. Fields needed a change of scenery and I'm assuming the Royals though Teahen did too. Kenny likes who he likes and he doesn't care what you think (right or wrong). What the Sox and Ozzie likes is flexibility in his line-ups. He likes players that play multiple positions and Teahen IS that player. Kotsay IS that player. Fields sorta was when he picked up 1B and Getz is NOT. Teahen can play 5 or 6 positions, maybe not all well, but he can in a pinch. Better than Dye at SS or Hall at first, that's for sure. Yeah, he's a little more expensive, but as has been said, one high salary player is probably gone at some point this off-season. Relax people, this is move #2 of a long off-season.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:42 AM) As one who has said we don't have a lot of cash to throw around this offseason, I'm starting to wonder if Jerry might be willing to drop a few more bucks considering the special rotation we have. Who knows, but I guess I wouldn't be shocked. Could he also be thinking he could sign higher quality players for a lower price because of a down market?
  16. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:36 AM) Josh Fields still has more potential than Jayson Nix. Well then, lets field a team full of potential. Cuz that works pretty well. Just ask the Mets early 90's pitching staff. Or the Pirates. Or the Royals. Let's look at this a different way. If Teahen doesn't work out...he's gone after 2010, if not sooner. And you take a $4 mil hit for 1 year.
  17. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) .779, .691, .754 How about now? Are you using 2009 only? Just curious. And no.
  18. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:25 AM) Quentin, Rios, Teahen outfield. Please Kenny say it isn't true. I don't see the problem.
  19. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:21 AM) God damn it... This deal makes no sense at all. Add salary, open a hole at 2B, and we don't even get a prospect. For Mark Teahen. Wonderful. Oh KHP...you are taking this trade too seriously. Teahen needed to get out of KC. Fields needed to get out of Chi. Getz is a loss, but you have two or three possible replacements IN HOUSE! And the salary added isn't all that much in the grand scheme.
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) not saying the White Sox would be world beaters, but I think a healthy rotation of Peavy/Danks/Floyd and MB in the AL Central would make it difficult to lose 100. Also, are we talking D with Nix to Getz? Because OBP between Getz and Nix was .324 to .308 and you get 10 more HRs out of Nix in about 120 less PAs... Nix OPS+ was 10 points higher (neither was spectacular though) and Gets RC/G was .1 higher, 4.5 to 4.4. The glaring thing is SB, Getz 25 out of 27 to Nix 10 out of 12. However, with the 10 extra home runs in less PAs, Nix actually scored himself 10 more times than Getz moving up 1 base 15 more times. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...xja01-bat.shtml http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...zch01-bat.shtml In regards to SB, don't you have to factor in games played? I'm not saying Nix would have 25, but I would imagine he'd have at least 5 more in the same amount of games, no?
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:14 AM) Between Boras being his agent and the fact that he'll probably want a multi-year deal, I'm sure he's not a good fit. Edited that for ya!
  22. If I'm the Sox, I don't mess with Beckham. You did that once and is coming around nicely. MAYBE, if he comes to the org and says he would be more comfortable in a MI spot. Nix played part-time last year. Hard to have any consistency when that happens. If Teahen is in RF, I'm thinking the combo of him and Rios will make up for the loss of JD's OPS.
  23. LOVE IT! This team is getting better already!
  24. To me, if this is true, I don't think losing Getz creates that big of a hole. Besides all of the ideas mentioned of sliding players over by using Teahen in the IF or keeping him in RF, there's already a solution whether or not the Sox can sign someone else. If Teahen goes to the IF, you can have a Pods-Rios-CQ OF. Not the best defensively, but not bad (i know the Sox haven't resigned Pods, but personally, I don't think he's going to get a better deal from any other team than the Sox. If Teahen goes to the OF, you have a Kong-Nix-Ramirez-Beckham IF. Not a major change and Nix provides more pop than Getz did. Again, if true, the flexibility the Sox had last year would pay off.
