Official 2009-2010 NCAA Football Thread

According to ESPN, Leach filed a motion to coach the team at the Alamo Bowl. Wow. -
QUOTE (Drew @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) The goaltender is the most important position on the ice, I don't care how talented your defense is and how hard your offense attacks. I just watched Huet do a French flop in front of Modano and let in another weak goal. Where's a gong when you need one? About a minute and a half into the second period, apparently.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 10:37 AM) "The State" Dvd set. Doesnt anyone on here actually know what that is? Because nobody in my family knew. Did you put your butt in the puddin'? Update on presents...company that sent vodka glasses instead of wallet is shipping out new wallet and told us to keep the glasses. Now THAT'S customer service. Flipcam is printing and sending a new personalized MinoHD and return slip so I can return brok'd one. No word on drill.

AND...maybe Cutler knew what he was talking about with Aromashadu, huh?

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) Fo' Shizzle. That crustacean would do anything for a little green. Even Plankton knows that.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 03:28 PM) Whoa whoa whoa there guy, I like Madden as much as the next guy, but we have a team full of stars including the plus/minus leader and probably the best D man in the league. Madden is a really really good role player, but he's no MVP. He is most definitely the MVP of the first half of this season. He does all the little things PLUS, he has 7 goals. I didn't think he would get much more ALL YEAR. He wins faceoffs and has taught the other young centers how to win more often. He's the "guy who knows how to win" that young teams need to get over the hump. I'm not saying he should be getting millions of dollars, I just hope they can sign him for a couple more cheaply. If not, they can't, but I'd personally like to see it.

I just don't understand why everyone has to suffer for DHS' mistake. And honestly, not getting up for the last hour is ridiculous. How about being "escorted?" Or even better, I'll give my toddler in diapers to you for the last hour and YOU can keep him in his seat. I feel horrible for all the Flight Attendants out there having to deal with angry passengers. I can't imagine they would want that job much longer.

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Dec 27, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) Is this Cam or Ed's cook book? Oh MB...where have you been? As for my Chrismukkah: Hangover DVD Banana Republic GC Shirts/Sweaters And now for the funny part: A personalized Flipcam that doesn't work. Drillbits, but no drill. And my personal favorite: My wife ordered a wallet for me. It came wrapped, so she didn't open it. The packing slip said it was a wallet. I opened it and was it a wallet? Nope. It was 6 "Luau" multi-colored vodka glasses. Ummm...yeah, I think we will be keeping those and asking for the wallet as well. All in all though, it was a great holiday.

Gosh, I can't believe this thread is still going...and ss2k5, I bet Mr. Krabs can be bought.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 28, 2009 -> 09:43 AM) A chance at history and you decide "who cares"? Weak sauce from the Colts organization. Everyone remembers the undefeated Dolphins. No one remembers the 1978 Super Bowl winner. I mean what the heck is the bye weak for? How much rest do these guys need? And since when is Manning known as injury prone? 16-0 means nothing unless you win the Super Bowl. See: Patriots, New England, 2007. You do what you think is best for your team. Screw what the other teams think. If they had taken care of business, they wouldn't be in the position they are in (as Kyyle said).

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 27, 2009 -> 11:34 PM) What a huge signing. I think I said this earlier in the thread but, John Madden is easily the 'hawks MVP this year. Not because of goals or assists or defense or face-offs or hits or hustle, but because of ALL of those things. He goes out, plays hard, and is a winner. Love him and I hope they extend him 'til he doesn't want to play anymore. (or they can't afford him, whichever comes first )

Just thinking that once a person is referred to by initials only, they have outstayed their welcome.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 04:17 PM) In what sane world does Love Smith and his staff keep their jobs? I will refuse to follow this team and spend another f'n dime on the Bears if he's back. This team has done nothing but regress since the SB run 4 years ago. Nothing. Last year was a team that should have gone to the playoffs but didn't because of AWFUL coaching. And, it's not like they've regressed to average, they've regressed to one of the worst 5-6 teams in the league. I'm meh on Jerry. If Jerry has to be sacrificed to get a guy like Holmgren or Shanahan, do it. If you're bringing in a new coach, then I'm fine with him here. Although some of his draft picks have been wretched, it's becoming clear that a lot of those guys are succeeding outside of this coaching staff. As to Cutler, he gets the pass this year because his supporting cast blows and the biggest deficiency of the team is their defense. But guess what, there are a lot of qb's with crappy supporting casts that don't throw awful f'n passes everyone f'n game. At this point, he's WORSE than Rex Grossman. At what point do the apologists stop saying "oh it's his wr's not running the right routes" and start saying "well given the fact that the wr's run the wrong routes all the time, it's his f'n fault for throwing it to them?" The world of business. I'm not saying it's right, but the Bears don't usually eat contracts like that. Lovie has what...2-3 years left at 3mil per? Or more? The McCaskeys don't do that.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 09:26 AM) Here is your factoid of the day to totally depress you... Since George Halas retired, the Bears have never hired a coach with any NFL head coaching experience. Well...it worked out once.

Wake me when I'm on fire.

'Zo Spellman was the waste of the draft pick.

QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 08:14 PM) Hey KWF, aren't you up in Canada? Does it have to be steam driven or something? Y'all getting digital anytime soon? I think the parts are all made out of backbacon.

This team has a bad rap for being good business people. Like b-Rye said...pitchers don't usually get deals for more than 3 years, with a few exceptions. Position players the same thing although the Sox seem to add a year or two for positions. And that's a good thing. Make them earn it. The problem iwhen it comes to playeris...players, or more to the point, agents, don't look long term, they look at right now. That's what an agent should do. Give me the most you can right now. Also why Boras and the Sox don't get along. So, I don't think that the Sox have a bad rap when it comes to actually PLAYING here...it's the PAY here.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 09:52 PM) I don't know where this comes from, I mean I guess he isn't a complete bonehead out there like Pods, but his percentages aren't a whole lot better. Unless Pierre has gotten dumber over the years, he's a pretty good baserunner. Pods is...well...not.
-
Well, I don't feel like reading 28 pages soooo... The Sox wanted Pierre for years. The Sox got Pierre. They got him for 2/8mil. Not bad at all. So, he doesn't walk a lot and he has a noodle for an arm. I'm sure there are numerous comparisons between Pierre and Pods. Here's the difference...Pierre knows how to run the bases correctly. He's not going to get picked off nearly as much. And he's better in the outfield, even if his arm is noodle-y. I think it's an above average deal. Not fantastic, but workable and great for the money.
