  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 28, 2010 -> 10:10 AM) Philly's forwards do a great job of getting back and on the PK they stack 4 players very close to the net to force teams to move the puck at the point. One thing that they havent faced however is a team with the puck possession skills of the Hawks. The Hawks arent going to flinch at Philly packing its players in deep because they have faced teams like that and are perfectly happy moving the puck at the point and firing away from deep waiting for rebounds. If I see Philly scrambling to chase the Hawks in the first few minutes of the first game I will feel alot better. If the game starts to look like Nashville where we struggle to enter their zone, then I will be worried. I agree completely. One thing I'd like to add...in the last two years, the 'hawks have faced pretty much every type of team and game. Hard checking...fast paced...neutral zone trap...and with the exception of the Red Wings, who I believe was more of a mental thing than a talent thing, the 'hawks have beat them all. I hope that they have learned from all of these series.
  2. When the broadcast crew from the opposing team implies you messed up, that's pretty bad. Heard it from the White Sox site...they had Hawk and Stoney, then Ed and DJ, then the Cleveland crew. While they didn't say West was wrong, you could tell they were implying it was a bad call and West was trying to show Buehrle up.
  3. Happy Birthday! Enjoy an early bird dinner for me...but don't steal the silverware!!!

  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 20, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) I disagree. The more he talks, the more likely another cheater goes down. I'm not going to applaud honor among thieves. Floyd Landis' mouth isn't going to bring anybody down. What bothers me the most isn't that he's calling out other cyclists...what bothers me the most is WHY he's doing it. Lemme put it this way... Frank Thomas vs. Floyd Landis. Frank Thomas...clean (at least there's no reason to suspect), led the way for the White Sox to refuse the steroid test, hoping to get to the 5% barrier and therefore initializing testing across baseball. Floyd Landis...caught, said he never did it, banned, and now talking and apologizing. Look, I'm all for giving people a break, or a second chance, but own up to your mistakes and "clear your conscience" when it happens, not after you deny, after your suspension, after your story is dead.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 20, 2010 -> 12:27 PM) CNN Headline: 'Miss USA: Muslim Trailblazer Or Hezbollah Spy?' Some of the user comments are hilarious. Including: Love it...cuz the way to infiltrate the country is to be Miss USA. Hezbollah: "We get the crown, we get the country!"
  7. Here's what makes the 'hawks good...you have three dangerous scoring lines. On each of those lines, you have at least two two-way forwards. Kane is ok and getting better at defense, Versteeg is Kane Light. Hossa doesn't have to score goals. Yes, they paid him a lot of money...but he does everything well. He has also hit a couple of posts and been beaten by the goalies. The 'hawks are the deepest team left in the playoffs and THAT'S why no one should panic that Hossa only has a couple of goals.
  8. You know what Floyd...don't "clear the air" or your conscience...just shut up. You f***ed up...you said you weren't doping, you got caught, you were suspended, and NOW you say you did. Here's a great way to clear the air. Shut your yap. I wouldn't be surprised if Armstrong or any cyclist was doping...s***, if any athlete was doping. This is old. Don't be a jerk and just take your medicine, do your job and close your mouth.
  9. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ May 17, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) He got his own thread actually. Reading is fundamental....
  10. Not one mention of Ronnie James Dio? I'm not a big metal fan...but the guy had one of the best metal voices out there. RIP...and horns up!
  11. Cruising thru Lala (pre-bellyup announcement) and came across Fang Island. I love happening upon music. Reminds me of my days at the local record store listening stations.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 12, 2010 -> 01:57 PM) Their "scoring" line was garbage. The Sedin's were entirely contained by our top 4 D-men. Kesler was non-existent. Burrows and Raymond had a couple of good periods. (Yeah, I know how that sounds) Wellwood had a great series...not a lot of scoring, but worked hard. Bieksa had one good game. Samuelsson was a ghost. Really, all around, the Canucks played like crap.
  13. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ May 8, 2010 -> 02:26 PM) I say we interrogate them, Casino Royale style. Towards the end if you know what I mean. Sami Salo disapproves. Seriously though, nothing is going to prevent drunk or high idiots from running onto the field. It's going to happen. So really, deal with it as best you can. If you don't want to be tased, bro, then don't run onto the field. Otherwise...be prepared for the shock of your life.
  14. Anyone hear Stoney last night? He explained it in one sentence...if you can stay healthy and throw with your left arm, you are going to have a long career in this league. Notice, he didn't say, throw WELL with that left arm.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2010 -> 10:05 AM) They don't have to look any further than their own goalie who has had back to back choke jobs in the playoffs. Don't place it all on Luongo...that entire team (minus Kyle Wellwood) choked. That was a horrible display and there needs to be a coaching change and some more energy guys brought in for them to make it any further in the playoffs. That being said...they are on the golf course...we are in San Jose!
  16. QUOTE (DonkeyKongerko @ May 11, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) I agree. Better than last year's game 6 too. Just going with his past history on this one Goals 3, 4 and 5 were soft. The 'nucks choked again.
  17. I voted more...but I think he's had an interesting combination of small and large problems. That's the rub. Like someone said, 9/11 was HUGE...so would that trump some of the SCOTUS retirements and the oil spill? I don't know the answer to that. But, I do think all of the "he wasn't born here" and "he's a muslim" talk should be included, as well. Just like Dubya's alleged cocaine use and heavy drinking were issues in his presidency at the beginning.
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ May 3, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) That second one is lame. Maybe we should make the whole flag round...?
  19. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 2, 2010 -> 11:46 AM) Let's call it the National I'm going to be Offended at Something No Matter What Day. Isn't that everyday? [green purposely omitted]
