QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 01:18 PM) Does Obama have to sign again? Maybe he'll veto it. That would be some s***. Will Biden use a different expletive at the next signing? Did I say this was a big f***ing deal? What I meant to say was, this is the biggest motherf***ing deal in the history of the whole f***ing universe!

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 12:35 PM) Do you think they will work to repeal this rule when the whining stops, or will this become sacred as all the old cranks feel about every rule in the senate. I can't imagine they will get the votes to repeal.

Back to the topic at hand... If any one of us refused to work past 2 pm or for a week...then we'd be fired. Congress gets more publicity. Shame on us Americans for allowing this to happen. We shouldn't be condemning legislation anymore. We should be condemning legislators for not doing their BASIC jobs.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 11:37 AM) First fully post-vote legitimate poll (not an internet poll) by a major polling organization, Gallup, now shows 49% like the bill, and 40% do not. The rest are apparently undecided. +/- 4% I believe, as well.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 10:48 AM) Actually, greed is what makes it work. You just need to make sure there are laws to keep certain things in check. But greed is part of what makes capitalism and free markets work well. Greed breaks it. Wanting to succeed without going overboard is what makes it work. I mean really, who needs more than one boat.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 10:31 AM) I don't remember Moore ever telling a 17 year old muslim student to go ride a camel. Or talking about how Jews need to be perfected. Not in public anyway...

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 10:07 AM) Yeah then we could start paying more for a service that has actually decreased in price since it came to the market. Free markets do not work though. Free markets work without greed. Unfortunately, greed usually wins.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) That actually goes for everything and not just healthcare. Like I said in another thread, by far the most depressing thing resulting from this entire ordeal isn't going to be the passage or failure of whatever the final bill will be or what's in it, but how it's exposed so many Americans as being intellectually lazy. Most voters don't really think about anything in anything more than glittering generalities and the more you break it down and the louder you are for/against it, people will just swallow the Kool-aid based on their already-determined perceptions. If you try to explain anything they don't want to be bothered, they just run back to their favorite information source to find a slant they prefer. Not to mention any legislation takes years, perhaps decades to completely take effect. The immediate reaction to any legislation is dangerous.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 09:36 AM) A quote from my Grandma yesterday: "He (Obama) is just going to let me die... not get me the medicine I need. I dont worry about me. I worry about you and your parents when you are my age" Nothing like old fashioned "scare the elderly" tactics. Wow...what do you say to that? Although, I'm sure her parents said the same thing to her. That's what the generations do. And honestly, our generation has a good chance of being screwed out of Social Security benefits that we've paid into our whole working lives.

Best part about last night: Seabrook nailing Vernon Fiddler...the RIGHT way. Showing how to put a big hit on someone legally. And Fiddler got housed a few times last night.

If we did away with Anthems...how would we hear the 1A of anthems? O Canada. -
The only thing that will get Ozzie fired is Ozzie. Here's the issue with some of your arguments: The team was built on the GM's back and it was a station-to-station home run hitting team. I'm not blaming Kenny for this, he did what he thought was best. it didn't work, although Ozzie managed through it. What kind of team won the World Series in 2005? I would argue it was a lot more like this team than the teams from 2006-2009. Speed at the top, players who can handle the bat, better defense, a couple of home run hitters, but mostly gap/doubles power. I won't go so far as to say that Ozzie will never be fired, but it's going to take a string of crappy years or some ridiculous thing that he says to get him fired. Also, I recently read an article about this...basically saying that Ozzie's wins over a replacement manager was +2 which was just below LaRussa, Cox and Fredi Gonzalez...all of whom were +3 and +4. I wish I could find the article. Sorry fellas.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 12:11 PM) It's hard to predict the shelf life of closers. Some are great for a stretch of 4-6 years and then fade away, such as a Keith Foulke and Eric Gagne (though Gagne's may have been due to PED's), while others keep on doing what they do, like Mo and Hoffman and even, to some extent, Billy Wagner. If Nathan retains his velocity and can still get the snap he did on his slider, he'll be back and could even pitch into his 40s. He wasn't any less dominant last season than he was in previous seasons, so it's very possible that he could come back and be just fine for another 4-6 seasons. Very true, wite. Both Mo and Hoffman have nasty out pitches. Mo's cut fastball and Hoffman's change. I can't believe Hoffman has continued considering he has lost so much on his fastball. Amazing that his change is still that good. And as happy I am for the Sox, I hate to see TJ surgery for anyone. I'm assuming his days as a power pitcher are over and considering his age, he's probably done as a closer. That sux for Joe Nathan.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 11:57 AM) so then why is it so rare we hear about them hitting populated areas? And why do they only hit poor people? For the same reason tornadoes only hit motor home parks...God has a sense of humor.

Anyone here see Karl Rove on the Today Show this morning? In terms of full disclosure, I'm not a Karl Rove fan and I didn't see the whole interview. He said he didn't run a smear campaign, nor was it dirty, and had too much respect for the American voters to do that. Also, he stated the media didn't respect the voters because he thought the media made it seem as though the voters were swayed by those types of campaigns. I'm not going to say right or wrong, although I have my opinion on the subject. Anyone else see the whole thing and would like to relate/paraphrase?
