I'd say it says they were never really too interested in Machado. Theyve been used as a boogeyman by the Machado camp IMO.

So is anyone with me that this is a good signing in a vacuum outside of any Machado implications? It addresses multiple needs at a very cheap price. Good deal. Yonder Alonso, this isnt.

The Alonso deal would be stupid. This Jay deal is good regardless of what Machado does. Much needed OBP in the lineup and also plays the biggest position of need. All for next to nothing and hes not blocking anyone. We're not playing for a draft pick anymore. We dont need to compete but it's time to win some ball games and give these young guys (and fans) some confidence.
