Is this in regards to what Bruce reported today? I saw where he said the budget is 30 million. Only issue is that is including Lynn and Eaton, so they would only have 15 million to spend if correct.

Of course, you know I agree with that. Heck, I’m advocating trading Grandal and 15 million dollars to Phillies (or Mets) for a good prospect and signing McCann.

They can’t afford Brantley or Pederson compared to Eaton, as that extra 5-7 million is hopefully being allotted towards closer.

Twins will make some moves also in the next few months. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re the ones that target Darvish, and Musgrove makes sense to them as well. Also some talk about them going after a SS.

To be honest, no. Was surprised when that rumor came out. But then I let the “Tony created a closer” argument change my mind. Now after thinking about it more, I could see them not wanting 13 million tied up on a closer two years from now.

A lot of teams still don’t have their operating budgets. Contracts absolutely could rise over the next few months if attendance estimations rise the next few months.

If the Mets are looking at various options and teams like the Phillies are in flux, Hendriks has no reason to rush his decision. There’s a reason no free agents of substance have picked a team yet. We got spoiled by two moves in 12 hours. I feel like the insider accounts for everyone a little too optimistic it would happen soon.

Btw, I think Rosenthal is an option for closer that’s not discussed enough. He never pitched for Tony in StL, but I’m sure they have a lot of similar acquaintances.

Also since I know you mention this a lot, he said the Cubs are totally screwed. Their entire business model is focused on gate revenue and the surrounding businesses.

Agreed, and I would be surprised if they’re not at least pursuing Hendriks, as so many different reporters have said they want him.
