Cespedes is receiving a ten million dollar signing bonus over the next 30 days. I doubt the Sox had that in their budget. A lot of these playoff teams are using their revenue from the playoff games and utilizing it on signing bonuses. Thus it doesn't count towards their 2016 budget.

Merkin keeps insisting Turner has a shot at 5th spot. I don't get what they see in him.
