  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 07:13 PM) a big park and getting to pitch to pitchers should help him out. That didn't work out so well, but a comp pick is better than nothing. Good post
  2. Gonna guess Cueto to Dodgers and Leake to Giants
  3. Samardzija played this perfectly
  4. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 11:53 PM) You also have to take into account that given where the Cubs are at, and how poor the Sox have been the last 5-6 years, I just don't think the Sox are a hot topic at all in Chicago. Obviously there are beat reporters and such, but I think from a main stream journalist, talk show host, ect, there is more in it for them to hunt down Cubs nuggets. Perfectly said
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 11:52 PM) Wasn't this kid supposed to headline a blockbuster deal for Sale in some Red Sox fan proposal? Lots of people wanted him as centerpiece for Peavy
  6. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 11:50 PM) Don't think they're done personally. Theo today said they'd sign a FA pitcher and trade for one
  7. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:45 PM) Lines up with the fact nobody was parting with $32M for him...somehow with the cub defense and his age, I don't see this move working out really well. Media will spin it as something greater than what it is. Yep, have fun pitching there with the wind blowing out during the summer months
  8. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:44 PM) As long as he's nowhere close to a White Sox uniform when the season starts and dominates the Cubs on whatever team he signs with, I'll be happy. Happy that Samardzija's not going to the Cubs, as that would have really been annoying if he went back there and pitched well.
  9. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) LOL at Ross. David Ross: The Free Agent Whisperer Oh, Kaplan, you amazin' ball-licker. Please let this mean Ross is his personal catcher also!
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) Hopefully he pitches like Samardzija did for the Sox. Seen a few places the Cardinals might go after Samardzija now
  11. David KaplanVerified account ‏@thekapman That lines up with what my source told me earlier this afternoon that Lackey wanted to be here with Lester, Ross and Theo. Amazing how the media kisses Theo's ass
  12. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:35 PM) The Cubs may very well add a number 2-3 SP via a trade as well. Which will make this signing look even better. Paying 16 million dollars and giving up a draft pick for a #4 seems excessive, especially given how much Lackey benefited from pitching at home last year.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:34 PM) Well said. Honestly, their rotation next year will be pretty meh next year if they don't pick up anyone else. There's no chance that Arrieta will be as dominant as he was in 2015, Lester is aging fast, as is Lackey, and Hammel and Hendricks have never been that good. They're going to end up trading Soler for someone like Shelby Miller also
  14. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:33 PM) God, you're going to HATE him when he walks off the mound screaming after he strikes out a guy to end the inning. Haha He'll look like Gandhi compared to Strop
  15. This makes me happy as a Cubs hater
  16. Sounds like Cubs might be going the hardest after Lackey. I don't think that would be a great fit for them.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 07:14 PM) Four letter first and last-names have done well on sox, fyi. Jose Abreu, Joey Cora. Good sign, imo. Should have signed Paul Bako instead of Avila
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 07:08 PM) If like, Jason Coats could land us Nova, wouldn't you do it? Yep, and then get the best deal for Erik Johnson if you hold on to Q.
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 07:49 PM) That article doesn't even say that the White Sox are interested. Just that they have been in the past. It's all speculative. Interesting that it says Sox were interested in Chavez
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 06:44 PM) He's still not better than anybody in the rotation currently, imo. If they trade for him, likely means Q or Johnson is gone

  22. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 07:13 PM) Kris Bryant will join me and @ESPNChiCubs at 12:30 on @espn1000. White Sox GM Rick Hahn joins us at 1:00. #HotStoveChicago https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/672840477113237504 For any interested in seeing what Hahn has to say Can't wait to hear Hahn answer Kaplan's questions about the Cubs dynasty
  23. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 01:52 AM) I'm hoping for Frazier Thing is, if you go all out and trade the farm for Frazier, then you better be willing to spend on more upgrades as well. It makes no sense to have Sale/Q/Abreu/Frazier the next two years if you're surrounding them with junk (outside of Eaton and Rodon).
  24. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 12:49 AM) I'm on the Lawrie bandwagon right now. Took a little bit but I'm on it pending the cost. Ideally, I'd love to see the Sox get away with trading Sanchez/Danish for him and giving Johnson the chance to play 2nd base. That would be the best chance at possible difference makers on the infield for the future.
