QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 06:18 PM) Judging by the time of season, Youk would have about $6.8 mil left on this year, plus another million for the buyout of 2013. So if they pay for 2-3 million of that and don't give up anything of substance from the minors, that's fine with me.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 07:13 PM) I'd be OK with picking up about half of the contract for a nothing prospect. Any more than that, I start Escobar for while. Not to open up the whole "finances" talk again, but I have no problem with the Sox taking on a few million for Youkilis....as long as it wouldn't prevent other deals this year. KW probably wants to go for it now and give himself until the end of July to see if they should become sellers.

KW whining about (OK bringing up) attendance again

23k last night for a Friday night game against the Brewers with perfect weather is hard to believe. That's easily 30k in recent years. -
There are very few prospects I'd be upset with KW if he traded to get Youkilis in order to get the Red Sox to pay for most of his remaining deal. I do think Youkilis would be a big offensive upgrade over Hudson, so the only players I don't want to see get traded of our young "prospects" are: - Viciedo - Reed - Jones - Mitchell - Castro - Danks - Quintana - Sanchez Anyone else, and I won't be upset if they allowed Youkilis to basically be a 1-2 million dollar rental for the rest of the year.
-
If you make a huge trade with guys like Viciedo, it better be for someone that will be with the organization for a few years.
-
The last thing the Brewers need is a power hitting corner outfielder. If they trade Greinke, they will want pitching back.

Wild pitches have played a huge role in three of our last four losses

Konerko needs to sit until his wrist is healthy. Absolutely terrible performance by him of late.
-
Fukudome was a huge bust this year, but I give KW credit for signing him and then releasing him when Danks passed him on the depth chart. I do wonder how serious Humber's injury is, or is this just a breather for him.

Greg, I bet you didn't know that the Marlins run differential this year is negative 60. The Cubs, a team that you were furious that the Sox were unable to win more than one game against this week, has a run differential this year of negative 56. The Marlins have the 3rd worst run differential in all of baseball. That's inexcusable with that talent.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 03:39 AM) Aside from being outspoken, Ozzie Guillen is well respected throughout baseball. Who is on all the TV shows during the postseason? Ozzie Guillen is one of the top five managers in baseball. You say this with certainty, but it might be in Ozzie's best interest for his managing reputation to get the Marlins back on track. They are a terrible team right now, and they look to be another Ozzie team that fails to live up to their expectations.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 02:45 AM) 3-run homer for Barnum. Awesome!

It couldn't be more obvious the Cubs were throwing at De Aza. Go back and watch Clevenger's glove on the replay, and you'll have no doubts.

KW whining about (OK bringing up) attendance again
fathom replied to chisoxfan09's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's really pretty simple: the Sox seemingly lack the resources to make a big in-season acquisition. They don't have a strong enough farm system to trade prospects to another team and have that team pick up most of the player's remaining salary (ie: Casey Blake for Carlos Santana). Thus, they need to be able to have the available payroll to bring in someone with 6-8 million remaining on their contract this year, and the attendance-to-date is making that difficult. After a few days to think about Kenny's comments, I have no problem with him calling out the fan base. Yes, the prices are too high, and you can tell they're in panic mode to try and fix some of the pricing issues. -
Huge effort by Floyd tonight. Sox had more bloop hits tonight than they've had over the last two weeks, and Beckham's homer was a nice finishing touch. I'm happy with Ventura and his decision not to retaliate in the 9th tonight.

Stay hot, Gavin

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 03:50 AM) If the Sox knew this was going to happen, they'd have shown some excitement in Games One and Two instead of playing like bored zombies. There's not enough hate in our dugout for the f***ing opponent! You could have all the passion in the world, but if your starting pitcher is Zach Stewart, you're probably going to lose that night.

Hawk's getting a little heated

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 03:29 AM) What a series. Sox give away game 1 with their SP, Cubs give away game 3. Too bad the Sox blew Peavy's gem in game 2. Yep, the Cubs pushing Samardzija back last week helped us out by facing the awful Randy Wells. We'll take it though, as we gave them game 1 (like you said)

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 02:12 AM) I do not get using MT in a 6-0 game. No game tomorrow, you want the main guys in the pen to get an inning today since they haven't pitched all series.

BECKHAM!!!!!

Thornton get the 7th, or does Ventura put Gavin back out there?

Great job Gavin

Regardless of outcome, I love that Gavin is pitching from the wind-up.
