Mariners (Pauley 0-2, 2.18) @ White Sox (Garcia 9-4, 4.74)
Might be time to get the pen involved. Garcia's leaving everything up in the zone.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:35 AM) Nope...he seemed to be seeing the ball well tonight, but hit into a DP after some ferocious hacks. I have so much more confidence in Quentin when facing righties. He has hit 16 of his 19 homers against RHP this year. He seems to struggle with high fastballs from lefties.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:17 AM) Castro freaking killed that. Probably the hardest hit ball I've ever seen him hit. The one on Saturday was longer than that

Castro molested that ball!

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:13 AM) My eyes tell me Omar is pretty freaking good over at 3B. Completely agree

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:12 AM) I'm ok with that. I'll take the picks. I only say this because i think both Viciedo and Flowers have some major flaws. FLowers has a long speed, despite massive power, where as VIciedo has massive offensive skills, but does lack good discipline which could limit his offensive effectiveness. Basically put, neither fit to me in the elite prospect group so I'd take a Dunn and the picks and move on. I highly doubt we will end up with that. I just don't like the idea of moving Hudson, especially with the dearth of pitching prospects we have in our system. I agree, I'd much rather keep Hudson than Viciedo/Flowers

I think Lillibridge and Viciedo would get demonted, and Kotsay will stay on the roster.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 02:08 AM) I have thought about it and I'd endorse a trade with Viciedo and Flowers for Adam Dunn. I question where Viciedo will play defensively and despite our current struggles at the DH position don't see a ton of difficulty in finding a decent DH. Hence, I don't feel as though we should put a significant premium on Viciedo, even though he might turn into an absolute beat offensively. But you're trading for a guy who will play here 2 months and then leave. As I've talked about before, if the Sox aren't willing to break the bank for draft picks, then supplemental picks are likely to be easy college signs.

Lance Berkman traded to Yankees
Biggest issue with Berkman is that he's hopeless against LHP.

I'd be one happy camper if Ozzie used Viciedo for Kotsay here, but we know that won't happen. It's one of the reasons I truly hate using Kotsay as the 1B, as it's impossible to sub him out.

During our 26-5 stretch, this is where Quentin would cap off the crooked inning with a bomb!

Man, Rios is hitting into a ton of double plays since the ASB.

Who's faster, Konerko or Castro?

Mariners (Pauley 0-2, 2.18) @ White Sox (Garcia 9-4, 4.74)
Juan!! It was going to take a double to score Castro, and that's what he delivered.

Words cannot describe how much better Beckham is at the plate than he was earlier in the year.

Ted Lilly traded to Dodgers
QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 03:41 PM) correct, but that doesnt cause him to lose his effectiveness.....bigger parks give an advantage to the flyball pitchers we are comparing the sinkerballers to, but it doesnt cause them to "lose their effectiveness" as he said Should have said lose their advantage, not their effectiveness

Phillies to get Oswalt for 3 players
Not official yet

Ted Lilly traded to Dodgers
QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) how so? the thought is that sinkerballers effectiveness is less correlated to the ballpark, thus they are better suited for small ballparks, but the reverse is certainly not necessarily true See my post to ss2k. Just speaking in general, not for every sinker ball pitcher. Someone like Buehrle would struggle at Target Field, I truly believe.

Ted Lilly traded to Dodgers
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) Infields aren't different sized. I wasn't saying every sinker baller would be that way. Some guys who have fly ball totals are also strike out pitchers (like Lilly). Sinker ballers that pitch to contact would struggle in Colorado in the past because there is so much room in the outfield.

White Sox Trade Catch-All
Viciedo played cause we were facing a lefty pitcher!

White Sox Trade Catch-All
Just a guess, but my trade prediction is Morel and Harrell for Branyan. Seattle has shown interest in Morel the past few weeks.
