  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 06:58 PM) Well, I said he did a good job on the trip, not that he was the reason they won 10 of 11. And I disagree with you as to the decision to sit Rios and PK in the same game. I think it was a calculated gamble that paid off. The reason I hated the lineup decision on Saturday is that we came off of a very inspiring win the night before beating Strasburg. You want to build on that momentum, and he put the worst lineup possible on the field. Yes, it paid off cause Peavy pitched great. However, it was the wrong decision IMO to keep the positive vibes going. He lucked out, just like how he got unlucky bringing in Thornton sooner, rather than later in the Tigers game we lost.
  2. There was good and bad for Ozzie during that series. He did a great job of walking Dunn in the 9th on Saturday. That's unconventional, as you're not supposed to intentionally walk the go-ahead run. However, Friday night with the 7th/8th inning was poor. Thornton should have faced Dunn, and to top that, Floyd should have not been allowed to hit.
  3. Ok, Gerrit Cole is sensational. 97 mph fastball on his 120th pitch, nasty 88 mph slider, an 84 mph change-up, and pretty good control.
  4. G. Cole has a great fastball, but holy crap does he work slow.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 09:44 PM) I remember one person saying once they liked my paragraph or lack of it style. So at least one doesn't mind it. Was it Bobby Jenks?
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 10:29 PM) As far as all time, Pedro Martinez, Randy Johnson and Barry Bonds are top 3 for me, no doubt. Agreed, like him or not, watching him bat during his juiced era was amazing.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 11:13 PM) I was listening to B&B the other day and they quickly exonerated all pitchers from being on steroids because "steroids only help you with trying to mash the ball." Not true at all. Those substances helped many pitchers in that era not only recover quickly from outings, but slow the breakdown of their shoulders over the tail end of their careers. Those guys were going out every 5th day feeling much fresher than a natural player would. Yep, HGH/steroids significantly helps your recovery time. It's a lot easier to tell with closers who were able to pitch in the upper 90s every outing as opposed to only reaching their max velocity once a week.
  8. I'll be very happy if Flowers can match the numbers of Mike Napoli.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 09:19 PM) 4-2 would be great for this week. Cubs are bad but the intercity series is always tougher than it would be otherwise. We'll be facing Lilly, Dempster, and Zambrano
  10. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) 1) Absolutely everything seemed to go the Sox's way vs. the Nationals. We got a strike zone very favorable to us on Saturday (which resulted in Riggleman getting tossed), one bang-bang play was miscalled in favor of us, and it seemed as though every line drive off of Peavy late in the game Saturday was caught. Yesterday, every time we needed something, it seemed to happen for us, ditto friday. I completely agree...it was ridiculous how many hard hit balls they had right at our defenders. Also, the umpiring all series was extremely beneficial to the Sox. However, these things happen, and it's great we were able to take advantage of it.
  11. GAS! Great 5th inning....I hope people go out and watch them on Tuesday.
  12. Damn, could have easily called him out. Those calls have been going our way.
  13. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 08:08 PM) Jenks closed a lot this past week, wouldnt look too much into it. Pretty sure they said Jenks was warming up earlier
  14. Ugh...leadoff single off the hanging splitter. Ozzie should have kept Thornton on the mound until the Nats PH .
  15. Interesting that Putz is in...hopefully Jenks is ok and just trying to get him another day's rest.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) Man, Hanson versus D1 on Tuesday. Yowza, that's a pitching matchup. Our home run streak might continue for a while facing 2 sinker ballers in that series. However, we'll see Lilly next weekend.
  17. Nationals fans should be pretty annoyed with the umpiring this series.
  18. Rios, you freaking stud. He has so many hits on hard ground balls up the middle.
  19. Really should try a hit-and-run here with Storen's slow release
  20. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) How did you fix it? Omar F'n Vizquel. He's been playing damn good baseball. I didn't, I just clicked on my soxtalk link and it finally worked.
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 08:56 PM) Yeah I keep getting redirected. At least the girl was pretty cute.
  22. Anyone else not able to get on to Soxtalk for like an hour? BTW, thought Willingham's was way gone.
