QUOTE (GordoTheGreat @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 02:38 AM) A walk, this is going to nip us in the butt. The 2-2 pitch to Wilson was clearly a strike, but Danks missed his spot so he didn't get the call.

Did the Phillies have a home run that got overturned?

Hawk's putting Fister in the HOF already.

Anyone that ever talks about the Sox players always running it out just has to watch the last 3 outs tonight. All three of those guys shut it down 20 feet from first base.

Hawk's in a pretty pissed off mood tonight.

Wow, Hawk getting on Beckham for his lack of range to his right. He just has no idea how to take an angle on those plays.

QUOTE (nastymasty21 @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 02:19 AM) dye, thome, konerko is getting real old I'm really happy we continue to bat Quentin down in the order. It would be a shame for him to be batting in the middle of the order when he's swinging well.

Dye/Konerko continue their dreadful at bats. Josh Fields has as many clutch hits since the ASB as those guys do.

Jermaine's at bats are just terrible right now. Jammed on anything inside and he is pulling off the outside pitch.

Hopefully the Cardinals won't have to use their #5 starter too much down the stretch, as Boggs is getting destroyed tonight.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 12:37 AM) I think the Cubs biggest problem right now is they suck. They can beat really bad teams (especially at home) which is why they are in shouting distance since they're an NL team, but really, the Cubs are a bad team. Haven't won a series against a team with a .500 record or better since April.

Blame it on Rios
Dye has a strong arm, but their are Little League players that have better fundamentals at charging a ball to make a throw or getting behind a fly ball. For as strong of an arm as he has, I can't recall more than 5 times he's thrown out a runner on the bases during his Sox career.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 06:50 PM) I'm expecting some improvement from him, obviously, and I think he's best suited to advancing the runner behind Slayer's league-leading number of doubles next year. That's the way Ozzie likes to play - get that 1-0 lead in the first inning. Getz needs to learn how to draw a walk. I mentioned this last night....4 walks in his last 28 starts.

White Sox Acquire Alex Rios Off Waivers
Dye is not going to get benched (for an extended period of time). He'll snap out of his slump, he always looks awful when he's in a slump. If Ozzie benched him, that would also just be terrible for the clubhouse. I'm confident he would never even consider that.

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 06:48 PM) Are there better options for us? If we shift CQ to RF, someone has to be in LF, and no one we have is ready. Pods at least gives us a semi-speedy option to pair with Rios and Beckham on the basepads. It wouldn't surprise me to see KW try and trade Linebrink's bad contract for Juan Pierre's bad contract this offseason and put Pierre in LF

Getz doesn't get on base enough to be at the top of the order. He's likely going to be our worst offensive player, so why get him more at bats than everyone else?

QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 07:33 PM) News to you? You think that Swisher was an average CF and Ramirez was below average at 2b. There is no rationalizing with you. Lord knows what you think about Pods in center. Royce Clayton was fantastic defensively for the Sox. And yes, I agree with daa that Swisher was average in CF and Alexei was bad at 2nd base. Alexei was great defensively prior to the ASB last year, but he absolutely sucked defensively in the 2nd half of 2008.

Just say no to Pods. With Rios in CF and Quentin in LF, there's no room for Pods. He's going to get 3-5 million this offseason, and with his mediocre defense and bad base running, he's just not worth that.

Hopefully there's 3 hitters in our lineup tomorrow, Beckham/Quentin/Rios, that keep us glued to the television screen.

How come I feel that if that was Pods in LF, he would have been playing so deep it would have easily dropped in?

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 04:48 AM) That was a ball Kotsay. No need to swing. Hawk's love affair with Kotsay is pretty sickening.
