  1. QUOTE (WCSox @ Feb 3, 2009 -> 05:53 PM) What we need is a leadoff hitter with speed. Figgins makes a lot more sense than another corner outfielder in his mid-30's who can't play defense. If Kenny can sign Abreu and trade Dye for Figgins, I'd be in favor of it. But I don't see why the Angels would think that Dye's extra 10 HRs per season would be worth the extra $5 million or so in price. I think that Kenny would have to eat some of Dye's contract for that to happen. We have a 3/4/5/6 in our lineup with immense power. Speed is extremely overrated.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 3, 2009 -> 06:49 PM) Anyone remember when KW said at Soxfest that he was evisioning a "non-traditional" lead off hitter. Ozzie then comes out and says he wants someone who gets on base at the top of the order.... Just sayin. And I heard that this may be a done deal though that could be posturing. "dunn deal" or with regards to Abreu?
  3. Rock....do you expect Jermaine Dye to be starting for the White Sox come April?
  4. QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 3, 2009 -> 05:48 PM) that would be awesome...especially if you can get him for more than 1 year and he can be thome's eventual replacement at DH....dye would certainly be traded though, as you could maybe try to live with dunn in lf for a year and TCQ would make the switch to right Sorry, I was talking about Ricky Williams
  5. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Feb 3, 2009 -> 05:42 PM) Does this slugger have crazy dreadlocks? I would guess this slugger was a football prospect at University of Texas
  6. Kobe's going to put up well over 50 against the Knicks when it's all over.
  7. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 03:06 AM) where the HELL is the official review? Yep, they had absolutely no control of this game.
  8. Just before that, there was a funny announcing moment as Al Michaels said the Arizona owner was taking his jacket off. However, it sounded very much like he said he was "jackin' off".
  9. If you believe KW, everyone has been wrong so far. AJP will bat 2nd again. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,5416853.story
  10. Even though I'm cheering for the Cardinals, these refs have become far too much a part of this game.
  11. Without a doubt, Pitt should take a safety here if it gets to 4th down.
  12. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 08:18 PM) fathom is going crazy somewhere!! GT basket with 1 second gives GT a 76-74 lead over Wake. I was tubing in the Wisconsin Dells and saw this score on my phone. It's about time we won an ACC game!
  13. QUOTE (onedude @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 08:47 PM) Is there some way we can morph Owens into Wise. Wise's better power, with Owens OBP and speed. Wise is a better base runner though, so the speed isn't too big of a factor. It's also hard for Owens to use his speed when he hits a grounder to the right side 80 pct of the time.
  14. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 08:40 PM) How about they both suck and lets go with option C.) none of the above. It's just such a joke that the Sox actually think this is a good idea.
  15. Give me Wise over Owens...he's a more dangerous hitter, a better bunter, and a better base runner.
  16. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...soxnt30.article Leadoff News Ugh, that's terrible.
  17. I'm not saying the league is bad, but the level of play in Big 10 games this season has been as bad as I can ever remember.
  18. QUOTE (whtsox13 @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 04:14 AM) Maybe it's Kenny Williams not being at Soxfest. I just heard that on Channel 9. Wow, what's the reason for this? Can't buy a plane ticket with 50 cents?
  19. I think Olney's trying to say the Cubs would now trade Marshall, who is someone that the Padres would want more than any of the other guys.
  20. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 10:51 PM) Like I said guys I REALLY hope it doesn't happen either, I just have a bad gut feeling about it. I did also until I heard who they gave up in this deal, and then it made it seem like they are moving on.
  21. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 10:40 PM) I hope you're right but I still see it happening. It's almost gone according to script since it first broke in late November. Like I said though, Peavy is basically holding the Pads hostage with his NTC. Santana did the same thing last year. Even though the Twins got Gomez, that was a fleecing, I think this will be the similar. No, the script has been completely thrown off as Cedeno and Olson were pieces everyone thought would be included in the deal.
  22. This is a great trade...for people like me, daa, etc. This pretty much makes acquiring Peavy impossible. As others have said, trading Pie and Cedeno for Heilman is a brutal trade. Heilman sucks...some Phillies fans thought he was their MVP last season. I can't wait to see him pitching with the wind blowing out.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 04:23 PM) Im sorry but 2 weeks of training isnt going to drastically improve your defense. He better keep up the same routine all the way through ST if he really wants to change. The kid has the athleticism and the arm to play a decent 3B, its his feet that are the issue. He wont ever hit for avg but can put up a good OPS for us near the bottom of the order. I don't think anyone really knew how bad his knee was last season. He was interviewed at an Okl St football game and said he could barely stand. However, I think we can expect to see an article like this about every 10 days on how a Sox rookie is going to be a real sleeper this season.
  24. QUOTE (Mr. Showtime @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 05:10 AM) I just watched the ending to Raw, and boy did that sure blow. So 40 yr old Shane comes out and single handed takes out Legacy? The number one contender and two young stars taken out by a non-wrestler? Seriously? If he comes down with a pipe or some kind of weapon you can at least make sense of it, but that was so beyond dumb. Shane should have joined them. He also whiffed on 80 pct of his punches.
