  1. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) New pitcher: C.J Wilson for Texas He was roughed up badly when he was a starter.
  2. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) Kings*** makes the play - 2 down Oh boy
  3. Tough to just blow scoring opportunities like that. At least we're back in the game....for now at least. Good job offense!
  4. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) This sign stealing BS is old. Hey Hawk, if the Sox think Texas is stealing signs, why don't they have anyone smart enough on the team to change the f***ing signs? Is Hawk still whining about the sign stealing?
  5. If we were to win this game, it would be our first victory this month after trailing by more than one run. If that doesn't speak wonders about your offense, nothing does.
  6. QUOTE(atrain081 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) I'm used to this by now. Every pitcher we've had for the last 3 or 4 years have faded towards the end of the season besides Colon. Look at Loaiza 2 years ago, Buerhle this year and last year, and now Garland. Maybe we SHOULD go to a 6 man rotation. Or maybe we shouldn't have every pitcher basically throw a ton of pitches every game, no matter what the score is?
  7. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Couple weeks ago we had 2 Cy Young hopefuls. Looks like we may have none. A couple of weeks ago, we had a 14 game lead. That's much more important than any awards.
  8. QUOTE(atrain081 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) Hate to be so optimistic, but is anyone else here really worried about Cleveland??? We could drop another game today; a game and a half if the Cleveland game wasn't postponed. Worried? Try more like scared s***less. I'm happy the Indians got postponed today. If we lose both games today, 6 games is better than 5.5. I'd rather the Indians not play when they're on fire like they are.
  9. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) At least we're playing for one run in the first two innings... I was going to say that, but didn't want to be called negative. I absolutely hate giving up outs so early in a game at such a hitter's park against a great offense.
  10. I would have much rather take my chances against Blalock than Tex there. Tex has swung the bat real well against us. Oh well.....we're not facing the Twins and Mariners offense anymore. They make a lot of pitchers look good.
  11. I honestly think the two worst teams, as far as match-ups for the Sox on the road, are Boston and Texas.
  12. Did Rowand try to throw the runner out at home? Poor throw I'd imagine?
  13. Likely 3 straight well below average starts for our big 3 pitchers.
  14. Another infield error? That's way too frequent lately.
  15. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) why jon? why what? Also, how many strikes were there on Tex's homer?
  16. I'm at work right now, but it's nice to see that we came out with some fire today.
  17. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) I think saying whats on your mind is a good thing and I think you have always been a good poster fathom. Dosent matter is it is pessimistic or optomistic, you always have something insightful to say. right on brother. Thanks. Again, I don't want to make this about me. I just know that I pissed off a lot of people, and I want to try and help make this place better for everyone. Hell, even if the rules were changed so that only optimistic posts were allowed on this board, I would change my philosophy just so I could continue posting on this great board. BTW, I take it that we're still allowed to criticize Ozzie in game threads? Of course, without the name calling!
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) It would be nice if one of our vets on offense would stand up and call out their own and take a better approach and start to jump start this offense. We have guys who have hit before in the majors, we have guys who can hit for a while. Its time to stand up and just win this damn thing. Lets not string this along. Win the division, rest your players and get ready for the playoffs. J. Dye did on Saturday night, as he carried our offense to a victory. Problem was, he didn't play the next game. We need everyone in our offense to pick up their game, as well as our manager. It's not like it's just been one player tanking during this prolonged slump.
  19. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:35 PM) Willie is back. Think he will play? YES
  20. One thing I always respected about this site was that it was soxTALK.com, and not soxCHEERLEADING.com.
  21. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) Doesn't work for me. Averaging two losses a week can be erased with one losing streak. Pitching can't score runs for our offense, which is more than capable of several three game losing streaks between now and October. Remember there still remains head to head matchup with Cleveland. Oh trust me, I still think there's a very solid chance we won't make the playoffs. However, at least there's hope that the Indians won't continue to score 7 runs a game and come back 5 times this month from deficits of 4 or more runs.
  22. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) no we don't. There is nothing wrong with cheating (or gaining any kind of advantage) if it leads to a W. Exactly...and we've been playing awful at home lately. That was the point of my post.
  23. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) Cleveland is still 9 back in the all-important loss column. They need to pick up roughly 2 games a week for the rest of the season to eclipse the Sox. Certainly doable, but instead of a massive collapse you're talking about a very slow and very painful one. What's going to happen in the first two weeks of September when the tribe plays Minny 6 times and Oakland 3, while the Sox are playing KC 6 times and LA 3? Do you expect the tribe to pick up 4-5 games over that stretch? Hard to picture that. Good post. That even makes a pessimist like myself confident.
