Cleveland Indians@Chicago Whitesox 6-3-05
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:15 AM) His stuff looks ok. I think it's in his head. His location is just killing him right now. It's the same thing that cost him against the Rangers.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) The fastball inside was called for, that is what he threw. He missed his spot out over the plate. I will assume that one finger down and pointed inward means throw the fastball inside. That HR is no one's fault but El Duque, he missed his spot and furthermore, he was the one who hit a guy and walked a guy that inning. Blame goes where blame belongs. How many times are we going to throw Crisp inside fastballs, only to have him turn on them and drive them down the line? Hernandez has had no control on his inside fastballs all game. It's sad when we have to pray for a starting pitcher to get a single batter out.

Cleveland Indians@Chicago Whitesox 6-3-05
QUOTE(valponick @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) I would honestly feel more comfortable with BMac being the 5th starter for the rest of the year, at least he throws strikes and listens to his catcher and pitching coach. Hernandez at Colorado next week will not be pretty.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) not ozzie's fault. duke's fault. Yes it is Hernandez's fault. However, Crisp should have never had anything good to hit that AB. That directive should have come from Ozzie and Cooper.

Maybe Ozzie will realize some day that lefties kill Hernandez, and to not let a lefty beat him in a big situation with a righty up next. Maybe that's too much strategizing for Ozzie....he's probably playing with Timo in the clubhouse.

Hernandez f***ing blows. We're better off if he's on the DL for the rest of the season.

Cleveland Indians@Chicago Whitesox 6-3-05
Hernandez looks about as bad as he did last start. I get the feeling we're going to need another 5th starting pitcher this season.

Hernandez is looking the same he did in his last awful start against Rangers. I can't believe KW gave him a 2-year contract. Our bullpen is going to have to come through tonight.

Cleveland Indians@Chicago Whitesox 6-3-05
Anyone else expecting this to be a very difficult game to win tonight? I'm not expecting much from Hernandez tonight against a lefty dominant lineup. Also, Westbrook is someone who will mow down hitters that are patient, and just get grounder after grounder. Only the Prior vs McCarthy game seemed like a bigger uphill battle this season for me.

The Problem with Timo Perez
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) If Borchard was latin he would probably be up now playing in RF based on this. Thanks Ozzie. Way to double speak. I've caught a lot of heat on this board for saying that if Timo wasn't a latino/hispanic player, he'd be off the team by now. I know that's a pretty controversial statement....but it's something I honestly believe in.

The Problem with Timo Perez
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Well Bruuuce Levine was on MJH and Jurko said oh well Timo will be send down when Gload comes off. Bruuuce stated that he is out of options and you will lose him. A comment to the effect of "HE GAWN" was sounded by Jurko, then Bruuce said well Ozzie believes that Timo is very important to this team and wouldnt want to risk him to waivers. :uhoh Sounds like Timo is going to stay and Willie or Pabo will be gone. Thanks Ozzie. You are using the wrong head to think again. Timo is going nowhere. There's not a doubt in my mind. Ozzie values Timo as much as anyone else on our team.

The Problem with Timo Perez
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) He handles routine plays like DeAngelo Jimenez. I hate the way he approaches the game. Exactly. Hell, Timo probably loved playing first base. Besides catcher, it's the only other position where you're allowed to use one hand catching the ball without drawing the ire of the fans. Timo acts like he's the s*** out on the field......but in reality, he's just s***.

The Problem with Timo Perez
QUOTE(southsider17 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) He seems to be a good clutch hitter ..... and that's it. He's very slow and his fielding sucks. Timo seems to be a good clutch hitter because he is put into key spots by our manager, who seemingly trusts him more than about 90 pct of our team. Before Monday's hit, Timo was having just a miserable season in clutch situations.

Why would the Sox trade BMac?
McCarthy is likely not a future ace. He can become a solid starting pitcher in the majors, but he needs to change his fastball (sink/velocity) in order to ever come close to living up to the expectations many have for him here. For the right player, I'd have no problem trading McCarthy.

Ozzie's Attitude
QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 06:03 AM) I don't give two s***s how Ozzie handles the media. If reporters don't like how he answers questions, they can stop asking them. If anyone else doesn't like how he answers questions, they can stop reading them. Problem is, these reporters are asking Ozzie the questions we want to hear. We want to know why he took out McCarthy. We want to know why he played Timo at 1b, pitched Walker, etc. I probably would have never started this thread if not for the way the Cubs and Dusty have acted the previous few seasons. Ozzie should be a media darling with his enthusiasm and our record. Since he's the one that tells our players to go out and get drunk....maybe he should just relax a little and not take comments so seriously.

Ozzie's Attitude
Let me get one thing straight: I'm not going to lose any sleep over how Ozzie treats the media, etc. The one thing I want from our manager is to put this team in a situation to succeed as often as possible. Ozzie just has to develop thicker-skin. With success comes media scrutiny. Do you think anyone in KC or Colorado is second-guessing their coach all the time?

Lefties LOOGY's
QUOTE(soxfan420 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 06:00 AM) lidge is still making league min, he wont be traded. Guardado is the best option out there but he would probally cost an arm and leg but i think its worth it. Lidge will be arb eligible pretty soon, and he's going to make a lot of money. Of course, any trade we would make for him would have to blow their socks off. Sweeney, Tracey, and another highly regarded prospect. Astros need hitting help right now, as well as for their future.

Ozzie's Attitude
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 05:48 AM) So who would you prefer a manager that is incompetent but is a total good goody two shoes to the media, or a manager that is a total prick, but does his job well? If the guy did his job well, he can act like as big of an asshole as he wants. However, if the person treats others like s***, he should expect any respect in return. Ozzie has yet to prove anything to me to suggest that he should have this chip on his shoulders.

Lefties LOOGY's
If there was one reliever I wish we could trade for, it would be Brad Lidge. I would have no problem if we gave up Sweeney and someone like Tracey for Lidge. The problem with trading the farm for Wagner is that he's saying he might retire soon. Lidge would likely be here for longer.

Ozzie's Attitude
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 05:46 AM) Playoffs??? And have you heard of Bobby Knight? There are so many more... Great, so we have the next Bobby Knight (off the field, of course)? There's a big difference between making a joke out of it like Jim More of Herm Edwards.....or being a dick about it like Bobby Knight.

Lefties LOOGY's
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 05:38 AM) Well what are some options we can look for there possibly? Jay Witasick on Colorado has looked pretty sharp this season.
-
Lefties LOOGY's
Fossum is now a starter for Tampa, and they're likely going to keep him. No chance the Pirates give up Gonzalez, he's a stud. Eischen is out for a long time with a broken throwing arm, I believe. A more likely type of guy we would get is T. Miller on Tampa or Cerda on KC. Honestly, lefty reliever isn't a concern right now. Marte is still a solid option, and even Cotts looks sharper now than he has in a long time. We need a reliable righty reliever to go with Cliff and Hermanson (neither guy who I have much confidence in for continuing to have a lot of success this year).

Our manager is clueless with the bullpen
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 05:18 AM) Can someone get a record of the games we have lead, before it's gone to the pen. I know it's been bad, but it hasn't been as monumental as say Cleveland's bullpen last season. We have 8 losses so far from our bullpen. That's almost half of our losses.

Ozzie's Attitude
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 05:21 AM) Do you go out of your way as a manager to get respect from the media? There's a lot of sports players and managers, who do things that the media don't agree with, doesn't mean they're any worse at doing their job than someone who does. How many managers do you see snap at a simple question asked by a reporter?

Our manager is clueless with the bullpen
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 05:15 AM) His stats are completely diff from last season basically. Last year, great at home, terrible away. This season, terrible at home, great away. Something to consider. Swinging for the fence too much at home. With the ball not carrying nearly as well so far this year, he's been hitting a lot of warning track balls. He has also gotten away from driving the ball to right center like he did last year.
