No where in that article does Gregor even hint that Kenny Williams is actively perusing Freddy Garcia. ^horses***^

If a player is optioned to a minor league affiliate for a period of less than 20 days then said player will earn the service time for those days spent in the minors. The day a player is sent down will count towards his service time but the day he is called up will not count. For example Josh Fields' service number coming into the 2007 season was 0.022 since he was called up on Sept 10 2006 and stayed through the final game of the season Oct 1 2006 (the day he was called up doesn't count so he earned 22 days of service.) Fields was called up on June 6th 2007 and stayed through the final day of the season Sept 30 2007 bringing his total service time to 136 days or 0.136.

Is Juan Uribe's $4.5M 2008 salary going to keep KW from going after a player whom he believes will make the team better? Is Juan's salary going to be a financial burden? If the answer is no (which I believe is the case) then who gives a s*** how much he's making?

Dave Roberts is just plain icky. 36 years old, mediocre, making $6.5M over the next 2 years and frequently ailing from some sort of injury, he's pretty much guaranteed to spend 2 months on the DL. That's an awful lot to give up for Tim Lincecum. You're relinquishing 2 big time power threats for a young midget with a high ceiling but at the same time an equally low floor (concerns of future arm trouble). You're likely opening up 2 major holes (3B/CF) for the '09 season or possibly sooner if the frequently injured Crede and Roberts land on the DL.
