  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 01:50 PM) There's no way I'd make a prediction right now with Rowand not on the Sox. 1.) Eckstein, David - SS - R 2.) Rowand, Aaron - CF - R 3.) Thome, Jim - DH - L 4.) Konerko, Paul - 1B - R 5.) Dye, Jermaine - RF - R 6.) Pierzynski, AJ - C - L 7.) Fields, Josh - LF - R 8.) Crede, Joe - 3B - R 9.) Richar, Danny - 2B - L Eh, that's a little righty heavy.
  2. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 01:36 PM) When has Carl Pohlad ever opened his checkbook? Apparently you forgot the Great 2006 Spending Spree featuring Tony Batista and Rondell White or the sequel that came a year later in the form of Ramon Oritz and Sidney Ponson.
  3. Minaya will throw $150M at Johan and all will be right in the world.
  4. 1.) Owens, Jerry - CF - L 2.) Eckstein, David - SS - R 3.) Thome, Jim - DH - L 4.) Konerko, Paul - 1B - R 5.) Dye, Jermaine - RF - R 6.) Pierzynski, AJ - C - L 7.) Fields, Josh - LF - R 8.) Richar, Danny - 2B - L 9.) Crede, Joe - 3B - R Just thought I'd jot this down so it is on record.
  5. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 12:08 PM) LOL. It's like I just put up the Bat Signal... Ignorance has that effect on people.
  6. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 10:53 AM) I've been saying that about Thome for months and getting pounded for it. And rightfully so.
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) Cubs have to feel FANTASTIC after having Zambrano and Lilly, respectively 1,2 on the SP depth chart, getting rocked at home, and having the Cards breathing down the collective neck of the Cubs. It's actually quite hilarious. Harang gave up 5 runs in the first game, you gotta figure with Zambrano on the hill that the game becomes an easy victory but no Carlos gives up 6 runs and throws another hissy fit. Then they have arguably their best starter of 2007 going in game 2 against Phil Dumatrait who is pretty f***ing horrible. Dumatrait gets predictably rocked, he and Victor Santos combined for a 4.2 IP, 9 ER performance and they blow it again this time with Lilly giving up 6 and the Wertz/Howry duo allowing 5.
  8. Wow, the Reds might just win this game afterall. Unfortunately for Bobby Howry, Josh Hamilton appears to be a pretty damn good baseball player.
  9. And yet he's still the most productive offensive player on this god forsaken team. Good luck finding a replacement especially at a $7.66M-$8.5M pricetag like Jim.
  10. Ehren Wasserman absolutely decimates right handed hitters, they're now 1-29 against him on the season.
  11. Josh Fields is quite the ballplayer. His OPS is now up over .780 and he's on pace for about 22 HR and 69 RBI in only ~380 ABs. He's also slick as all hell when bare handing the ball.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 10:40 AM) It is really, really sucky that the Sox have so d*mn many pitchers next year who are out of options. Sisco, Floyd, Phillips, Masset. That's a real mess we've put ourselves in with some of those guys, because I really don't want to see any of them walk for nothing, and some of them almost certainly will. I really don't think Sisco is out of options just yet. Since he was picked by the Cubs in the rule 5 draft Sisco had to be put on the 40 man roster but could not be sent down for the remainder of the season or they would lose the rights to him so he did not use an option that year. He used one last season and another one this year so he should have 1 more for the '08 season.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 10:06 AM) You think the Sox plan 5 years in advance? I don't. And based on their history with Crede, it appears Boras isn't an issue for them in the early years. Definitely agree with this.
  14. I really don't think they care about what might happen 5 years down the line. They don't need a power play to get some non-spectacular college outfielder into the organization, I doubt bringing John in had anything to do with his brother.
  15. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Aug 15, 2007 -> 09:53 AM) Errrr...remember this is the White Sox we are talking about. They don't deal with Boras. That leaves Abreu off the table. Unless it's someone like A-Rod, the Sox almost definitely won't deal with a Boras client. Abreu is about 5 years away from free agency much like another Boras client the Sox traded for this past offseason, John Danks.
  16. Righties are 1-26 against Ehren Wasserman this season Lefties are 12-62 against Boone Logan this season When Hall catches for MacDougal the opponents OPS against is 1.304 (26 PA) When Pierzynski catches for MacDougal the opponents OPS against is .638 (96 PA)
  17. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 10:51 PM) He's making 10 mil next year. $12M, actually.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 05:44 PM) Dunn is still under Cinci's control next season. I'm not sure exactly how his contract works, but at least this year, if he was traded, he became a Free Agent at the end of this year. I have no idea how that translates next year, but he's certainly not a FA this offseason, and thus, would probably cost Gio + additional. 5.) Adam Dunn 28 '08 TO worth $13M or $500K BO (Option is eliminated if traded + $500K assignment bonus)
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 04:29 PM) It's pretty simple really. Arow is not going to be as good as many of you here want him to be. All we will read for the next 3 years is what a let down Rowand is, and why did we get this POS back, and on and on and on... We need a new, "soxunknown" quantity in CF. What that is, I don't know... but for all the Arow love around here, it's a setup for a HUGE letdown when he's not playing for a contract. I don't think there's nearly as much of this going on as you make it seem. If it is there, I'm not seeing it.
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 03:47 PM) :wub: Agreed
  21. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 03:32 PM) True, but Johan Santana was damn near an automatic win, and they always had an outstanding bullpen. Go backs to that theory of pitching wins championships. Also, look where that lineup got them in the playoffs against other pitching, an early exit. You tend to win playoff games with dominant starting pitching, an effective bullpen, solid defense and 3 run homers.
  22. There's no reason for me to believe that Crede will be anything more than pure s*** next season.
  23. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 11:08 AM) Who's DJ ? Davey Johnson
