Here's why the Sox won last year, it's really really simple. 2005 Team ERA = 3.61 (Best in the AL) 2005 Team ERA+ = 123 (Best in the AL) 2005 Runs allowed per game = 3.98 (3rd best in the AL | CLE: 3.96, ANA: 3.97) 2005 Homeruns hit = 200 (4th most in AL) Last year's offense sucked ass they put up 4.57 Runs/G which was the 6th worst in the AL, luckily the pitching held the opposing team's to 1-3 runs nearly every damn game so if the s*** offense managed to knock in a run in the first along with a 2 run HR in the 8th the Sox would likely win because the bullpen was the s*** last year thanks to career years from Hermanson, Cotts, Politte and who knows maybe even Jenks. Let's say in 2007 the Sox keep this offense intact and they produce the exact same they have this year and by some magical stroke of luck the 2007 White Sox pitching staff pitches equally as good as the 2005 staff. The 2007 White Sox would win around 120 games.

This is 2006 by the way, just like Kenny Williams said the time for celebrating last year's achievements has come and gone it's now time to focus on the success of this year's team. You can hold that World Series with you forever and reminisce as often as you please but you can't let the success of a completely different team from last year overshadow the failures of this year's squad. This team has taken the underachievement tag to a whole new level. They've gone from World Series Champions to 3rd place in the AL Central and the 5th best record in all of the AL, in other words they're losers.

This is the most aggravating, confusing and infuriating season any Chicago sports franchise has ever had. When I so much as think about this team, I get sick to my stomach.

The amount of appeals that take place in baseball is just ridiculous.

The funny thing is Konerko actually has more Ks than Thome in close and late situations (20 SO/18 SO) and Thome has 2 more home runs in the same situations (3 HR/5 HR). Not to mention K:BB for the 2 of them which is completely lopsided, Konerko: 20:9, Thome: 18:20. Of course when discussing the 2 people often say "f*** the stats" or "I'll believe what I see". Which makes discussion on the topic all but impossible.

It seems all my worst nightmares about this team are comming true. If Freddy can save his job just by saying he'll likely gain 6-7 MPH on his fastball over the offseason then what stops Podsednik from saying he'll likely get his speed, plate discipline and contact swing back this offseason and keep his job? And what happens if Freddy comes into next year throwing 84-87 MPH? The Sox would likely be completely screwed it would be another season with a 5 ERA 1.48 WHIP soft tosser in the middle of the rotation because he'd have no trade value.
