Can Tejada be a reality?
QUOTE(Adam G @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) They definitely put up numbers and they're great players, but I guess I dont think of them as the super elite type players. I'd put Jeter, Ichiro, Clemens, Oswalt, Mariano Rivera and Derrick Lee ahead of those guys. Just my two cents though. Derek Jeter over Miguel Cabrera? You're high. Miguel Cabrera will be 23 years old next year, he already has two 33 HR seasons along with two seasons with 112RBI+ and a .300 career batting average. He put up a .947 OPS last season at the age of 22, if you consider Pujols to be elite then you have to put Cabrera in there.

Can Tejada be a reality?
QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) I said that if he surprises, he will be a significant improvement. He was a pretty good source of power in his youth. If he can show any power at all, which the Twins drastically need, it will be an improvement, specially because if he sucks, they don't lose any money. Also, his name is Tony Batista, not Bastilla, my mistake. If he plays half way decent in spring training and ends up making the team then proceeds to suck during the regular season, he would have hurt the Twins more than he helped them because it would keep them from going out and finding a servicable player to fill that 3B spot (Corey Koskie.)

Can Tejada be a reality?
QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) Neither would I, but if he's free if he doesnt make the roster, how can it hurt? It could also keep them from addressing their gleering weakness at 3B.

R the Sox goin to get a CF
QUOTE(VAfan @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) What is your objective evidence that Brian Anderson is going to be good? Certainly not his September stats: 34 ABs, 12 Ks, no BBs. AAA? AA? This guy could become a decent player, but I haven't seen anything exceptional in his minor league career that would lead me to believe that he's going to make us forget Aaron Rowand anytime soon. (And Rowand is hardly an offensive star.) What am I missing? Show me the evidence please. I think there's a damn good chance BA could put up numbers similar to these: .270/.326/.407/.736 13 HR, 69 RBI, 77 R, 116 K But with probably more power. We're talking about a guy who put up: .295/.360/.469/.829 16 HR, 57 RBI, 71 R, 115 K, 448 AB in AAA last year.

In teh spirit of the holidays, can anyone help me?
They'll be releasing a DVD in a few months with this game on it. Perhaps you should take the non-illegal route and just wait for that to be released and purchase it.

Why does everyone want to dump Jon Garland?
QUOTE(VAfan @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) I'll happily eat crow next year if he sucks, if everyone who ripped me about Garland and said he should be traded and/or was never going to sign here again steps up and eats the crow RIGHT NOW. It's not like people wanted him traded for no reason. Every single report comming from the Sox said that all negotiations with Garland had broken off and trade rumors envolving Jon started popping up all over the place. People didn't necessarily want him trade because they don't like him or because we think he sucksk, there were solid reports backing people's suspicions. It's amazing that after all this time you still don't get it.

Crede, Garland, Pierzynski
This is going to get really annoying.

Buehrle delivers, with happy returns
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 11:31 PM) 2 questions: Feet spread apart parallel to shoulders or perpindicular? Across the field as in 1st to 3rd or CF wall to home? 1. Parallel to shoulders. 2. A big open field by my house, not a baseball field. I did a lot more long toss and such on my own time and worked more on my mechanics and in the batting cages during practice.

Buehrle delivers, with happy returns
QUOTE(Wanne @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) Yeah...tought him what this guy that pitched with the Dodgers ages ago taught me...hold it with 3 fingers instead of 2 and choke it in your palm a little with the pressure on your thumb wrapped under. Same arm motion as your fastball. I don't have him throw this too much at all...I'm just trying to get him to be more consistant throwing strikes...then go from there. I'm a firm believer in long toss as well. Long toss is one of the most fun things you can do IMO. A buddy and I would stand on opposite sides of a field and toss the ball to eachother with our feet stationary. It was a b**** not stepping into my throws but it strengthened my arm and outfield accuracy like nobodies business.

Buehrle delivers, with happy returns
QUOTE(Jake @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 11:17 PM) It's not curveballs that mess with kids' arms. It is when they throw sliders because they're trying to throw a curveball or don't know the difference. The best thing to do with young ones is teach them the right way to throw it. A correctly thrown curveball is not dangerous to your arm in any way. No more than a fastball is. I didn't say curveballs messed up my arm. I threw a pretty good overhand curveball and it didn't put much strain on my arm at all. It was the slurve that got me, I threw that pitch constantly, noone could even touch it. EDIT: I also threw a lot from sidearm and at times from almost submarine. I switched between 4 different arm angles consistantly through my baseball life.

Buehrle delivers, with happy returns
QUOTE(Wanne @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) God I love this dude!....great story. I clipped and saved it to show my son (a 12-year old lefty pitcher who actually has developed a nasty curveball but has trouble throwing consistant strikes)...just in case he struggles and wants to give up baseball at some point. I had to have elbow surgery my sophomore year in High School due to throwing junk in lttle league. It's not the best idea to have your 12 year old son throwing curveballs on a regular basis, he can really mess up his arm.

White Sox hat question
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 27, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) I don't know if I can find it selling somewhere online, but this is the hat you're looking for: That's the one he's talking about but they didn't give them out after the Division Series, those were released after we clinched the division.

Rumor: 4-Way Garland Trade
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 24, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) :headshake Yes, they are. I know you love Pods and all but in general SBs are overrated.

Rumor: 4-Way Garland Trade
QUOTE(AirScott @ Dec 24, 2005 -> 12:42 AM) might that have anything to do with already having Podsednik, thus having no need for Pierre? That had a good amount to do with it. But mainly becase I don't feel he'd bring much to the team at the amount it would cost to bring him in. Stolen bases are overrated in general and especially in Pierre's situation seein how he's stealing about 70-75% of his bases each year which is pathetic. His lack of an arm in center field also turns me off to him, in general I just didn't feel he'd be a good fit for our team.

Rumor: 4-Way Garland Trade
QUOTE(dmbjeff @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) he traded for pierre, that was a good move.... u cant say that is a bad move. everyone on this board wanted pierre it seemed like just a few weeks back. I'd say most people on the board, including myself wanted nothing to do with Juan Pierre.

The lastest on Garland
QUOTE(SEALgep @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) Crede is most likely gone after this season, and although I like Fields, Marte has higher upside. Fields can still bring in some talent via trade. It was just a thought, very unlikely. Why exactly would Crede be gone after this season. And because he has Boras as an agent is not an acceptable answer, Boras has zero leverage in Crede's situation.

Lovie Smith
QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 05:56 PM) Genious may have been stretch, but Jauron led the bears to some successful defenses... and in 2001 im pretty sure the bears led the league in pts against. Defensive prowess maybe?

Actor Brad Renfro arrested in drug sting
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 06:55 PM) Decent Actor. The characters he played in a lot of his have drug or emotional problems. I still own that movie. That is with the hot chick who plays Becky. I can't remember her name. That would be Rachael Leigh Cook A.K.A. Josie from Josie and the Pussycats Movie.
