  1. That's about a $430,181.53 contract for Jeff. Good for him.
  2. QUOTE(Pierzynski 12 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) What is this Sox Talk School? It's an absolute b**** to read your posts, I usually just end up skipping over them. Though I guess I'm not missing much anyway.
  3. QUOTE(Pierzynski 12 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) WTF? Usually people use spaces after commas and periods. You appearantly do not follow this same logic.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) I thought CSN had Benson listed as probable the other day. But I agree, let him get back to full strength over the regular season and have him set for the playoffs. AP was really a surprise to me this season. All the RB's have shown that they can run with the rock. And I am glad Harris will be back. McGowan and Green have done above what we expected while Brown and Harris were gone. I really like the depth the Bears have. It looks like Benson is listed as Questionable for Sunday and he did practice yesterday. I just highly doubt that they'll send him out there with 2 games to go and risk reinjury to his knee.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) Do you know the injury updates on Harris and Benson??? Harris said yesterday that he'll play vs the Packers. Benson on the other hand I'd assume will be held out, most likely for the rest of the regular season. Last I saw he was doubtful for Sunday.
  6. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) I love how people are drinking the kool aid around here. They do not have enough offense to win. Defense wins championships, sure, but you have to score points to get to the championships. And furthermore, they play in a pretty weak division. And even more furthermore, when someone plays smashmouth football against them, they become Cubs, not Bears. Don't get me wrong, they are much improved over last year. But they are NOT a Super Bowl winning team, IMO. Last time I checked, the playoffs are a lot more smashmouth. That's why I have a hard time thinking Indianapolis will win. I admit, I'm a Colts fan, but I'm not sure they have the toughness to win it all, either. Personally, I like Seattle right now. But so many things can change, depending on matchups and what not in the playoffs. The Bears are decent, but not championship calibur, yet. Is that a little better substance, sir Kalapse? That's an aweful lot of words I'll give you that. For the first 13.5 games of the season the Bears had one of the s***tiest offenses I have seen in my lifetime. We had the worst QB in the NFL and our recievers couldn't get open to save their lives. The one good thing the Bears had going for them on the Offensive side of the ball was the run game. Thomas Jones and Adrian Peterson gave this time the only bit of offense this team had. Now for the utra Kool-Aide sounding, flip of the coin, question mark filled part of my post. Rex Grossman is the QB that this offense has been waiting for, he's one of the reasons Moose caim to Chicago. Grossman could give this team what it needs to make it a solid contender in the playoffs as opposed to the one and done team I've seen for first 13.5 games of the season. Rex is the far superior QB to Orton whom we had to indure for most of the year, if he can play the way I, a lot of Bears fans, football fans and Bears management feel he can play we could finish out these two final games against s*** teams with a legit passing attack and take that into the playoffs. The defense needs to keep up thier ultra fast paced gameplay and not have s***-tackleing Sundays like they did against the Steelers. I'm not worried about them especially since Brown and Harris will be back to finish off the year as will Hunter, so they'll be at full strength going into the playoffs. The Bears defense is Superbowl caliber, the offense on the other hand is just a giant IF. The Bears need Rex to somehow avoid injury and play up to his talent along with Thomas Jones continuing his excellent production and this team could do something in the playoffs.
  7. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) No, it's not because of any other team. The Bears do not have a championship team. That's all. I love how people can just say this and not have to back it up with anything.
  8. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) Why would we trade Garland for another SP? Kinda defeats the purpose, no? Especially when the starting pitcher we'd be getting in return would be our 6th starter, so he'd end up being our 2nd lefty out of the pen?
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) http://www.insidehoops.com/teams/chicago-bulls.shtml That sounds like a whole lot of speculation, no solid information.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 07:50 AM) It depends if you like the cowboys or not....Obviously if your a cowboys fan in any sort you didnt like it but me not being a cowboys fan at all found it funny. I personally hate the Cowboys and I found nothing funny about it. Of course I've always been pretty big on sportsmanship and not showing up your oponents.
  11. QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) Seriously Slav, I was mostly inserting your ID cuz you are one of the biggest Bears fans on here. :headshake
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) That was hilarious. No, it wasn't. It was however one of the most pathetic displays in the history of sports though.
  13. It's hard to say $91M when we have so many unresolved contracts. We can only speculate as to what the current payroll is until the last of the players get their new contracts.
  14. 7-16 from 3 tonight. We've now opened up a 9 point lead late in the 3rd.
  15. There just really aren't that many good 3B out there anymore, and especially players of which to compare to Crede. I'm thinking with relative service time and somewhat similar numbers you can look at 2 guys, Hank Blalock and Ronnie Belliard (though he doesn't really play 3B anymore). Blalock especially though has put up better numbers than Crede over both of their careers. Blalock and Belliard will both make $3M next year. I'd say we'll probably come to an agreement with Crede on a 1 year deal somewhere in the $2.5M range. I just don't see Boras pushing for anymore than $3.3M, it would just be foolish and unreasonable to ask for anymore than that (hell just asking for that is pretty silly.) The Sox would probably go with a figure somewhere in the $2M-$2.5M range which makes a 1 year deal for something around $2.5M look very realistic.
  16. QUOTE(timotime @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) we just won the f***in' world series. i'm sure we do. care to prove we can't? that's what i thought. I can show you current payroll figures and quotes from KW and others saying that the Sox will have a payroll in the upper 80's for this year and that we are currently over budget. Would that suffice?
  17. See, this is why people like Chad Johnson and it's the kind of thing that Terrell Owens doesn't get. They both do celebrations but totally different kinds of celebrations. The best way to describe the two is with a quote from Super Troopers . . . -[Chad Johnson's] shenanigans are cheeky and fun! -Yeah, and [Terrell Owens'] shenanigans are cruel and tragic. -Which... makes them not really shenanigans at all. -Evil shenanigans!
  18. QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) Looks like Kenny's trades haven't been too bad huh? Joe Borowski was dealt from the Sox to the Orioles for Pete Rose JR in '91, I highly doubt KW had any input into that deal. BTW, the Koch - Foulke trade, looks pretty damn good to me right about now.
  19. *cough*BillBrasky*cough*
  20. "I am [insert name]'s b****" is a much better bet.
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 12:46 PM) Actually, I went out to my truck yesterday morning and there was an empty beer can in the back and there was a layer of thin ice all over my door and mirrors. I just assumed somebody poured beer on it. But later a friend told me this kid was bragging about it when he was hanging out with him. It was just really random since I've never heard of the kid and obviously have never talked to or interacted with him. I also touched it several times just thinking it was beer. That kid would have his skull cracked 10 minutes after I found out it was him.
  22. If I would have been on here this morning I would have picked Quentin, though I did pick him in the other thread so I half win.
  23. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) The problem is that he can walk after this year. so we won't get fair market value. If we walk away with Blalock, I'm happy. Why can't we get fair value? For some reason I don't think the 1 year rental tag will hamper Garland's value all that much. It just seems like the market on pitchers is so f***ed that someone will end up giving us a good package for Garland.
  24. Danny Graves does not sure up any bullpen, ever.
  25. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) I don't know...why not get rid of a guy who we aren't going to have after this year. We have 6 starters. Someone has to go. McCarthy is ready...and ready to be awesome. If we get Blalock, I'll be ecstatic. Why not get fair value for Garland instead of just dumping him because "we have too many pitchers." If we're not getting a great deal for Garland we could use BMac out of the pen as the long man and go with an absolutely studly starting rotation. I'd rather hold onto Garland and either move him mid-season or take the draft picks than move him for a trade I don't feel we get the better of.
