Lets say you have an HP zv6000 notebook and it's been acting funky for about a week now. First you were getting a blue error screen which would only flash for a second and then automatically restart your notebook. Since the screen only flashed you couldn't actually read what the error was. The one big give away as to what the problem is would be that as the laptop restarts on its own it also beeps very loudly with the same pattern each time. Now after about a week of this it doesn't even start up anymore, when you hit the power button all it does is beep at you and show and black screen. The beeping would lead you to believe that it could possibly be a problem with the memory module perhaps. With all you computer geeks on Soxtalk, what would your diagnosis be?

Horrible song. How dare he ruin one of the greatest songs of alltime with that garbage.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) I read an article that stated Abreu is owed $31 million the next 2 seasons, and has an $18 million option for 2008 which he wants picked up in order to waive his no trade clause. $49 million for 3 years of Abreu? I don't see KW going for that. Forget about Abreu, HE WILL NOT BE COMING HERE. It's $28M over the next 2 years and a $16M bonus. Still that's $44M for an aging Abreu who showed signs of slowing down in the second half of last year.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) Thats obvious enough. Kal, I like our redundant posts, you were just faster than I. You worded it better.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 02:32 PM) Operating on a budget means not spending more than you have. The Sox are FAR from spending more than they have or make. Bulls***, operating on a budget means working on a total sum of money allocated for a certain purpose. The White Sox are a business, owned and operated by business men. When they go and set up a budget for this business they set a certain amount of money that may be spent on payroll for the year, this figure is usually relative and can be bent but it is there. Kenny Williams has to work within this budget and this means spending money wisely and just throwing it around and saying f*** it we made a s*** load of money last year obviously we can afford to add another $15M onto the payroll. All indications are that the Sox have now reached or are near their max payroll for the time being and cannot add on anymore money wether or not they made a good amount last year.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) 1. We'd be adding a Gold Glove. 2. It's not YOUR money! The Sox can more than afford to add Abreu! A gold glove means absolutely nothing to me, not to mention the fact that he won it in RF. If he were acquired that would mean he'd probably start in LF and Pods in CF. Anytime you have Pods playing CF your defense is going to struggle. Easy for you to say the Sox can afford him just fine. Somehow I doubt they'd want to go over $100M for next season and all indications from sources say that this is a correct assumption.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 11:28 AM) Abreu - Pods - Dye is MUCH better than Pods - Anderson - Dye! Not defensively or money wise.

QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) hows this gonna work? Isn't President Bush an Astros fan? Just like his Dad. GW once owned the Rangers and has publically cheered for them in the past. I highly doubt his allegance to any team would affect anything.

Kyle Orton, drunk pictures......again.

QUOTE(kevin57 @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) Ratings aside, yeah, Grossman is a better passer and leader than KO, but those Bear fans who think that Grossman is/will be one of the top, oh, 5 quarterbacks in the NFL need to go into rehab. The only people who believe that are the Bears WRs, especially Moose. As good as Bears fans believe Rex is, the Bears' players believe him to be 100X better. -
QUOTE(Random @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) i got a quick question, how big are the SoxTalk banners? If you mean the banner at the top of the page, that would be 738x118.

I think people have forgotten just how good Goldy is. This really shouldn't even be close.

Bill Lumbergh, it's not even close in my mind.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) I like DeFalco. What about J. Hood and Carmen? If Carmen isn't gonna do 9-noon does that mean he will be back as Bulls Pre Game host? One of the main reasons why Carmen and Silvy worked so well was because of the chemistry between the two. They're friends outside of work and compliment eachother nicely.

Nick Stokes. I've seen the show maybe 3 times and in all 3 episodes he has stuck out as the most likable character.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 12:37 PM) Josh, VA, RNW, in that order. Gotta disagree, it goes Josh, SF1, VA/R&W. Josh gets flamed for everything he posts and he deserves it as well. SF1 has the ability to get flamed for everything he posts but somepeople seriously hold back, not to mention he's been the victom of numerous memorable flames in the past. Red and White doesn't post enough to be near the top and VA actually backs his s*** up so they'd tie for 3rd.

The only sports radio show in Chicago that I can tolerate and it's getting pulled? Hmm I started listening to sports radio again because of them, I guess I'm done with all that.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 06:57 PM) I really didn't know what to make of this deal when I first heard of it's officialism (yeah, I made that word up). While I am glad we avoided arbitration, I am a bit stumped as to why a longer deal couldn't be worked out. But hey, if he produces like he did in the playoffs, 2.675 millions is nothing. Do you know what a good baseball agent's prerogative is? It's to get his client to free agency inorder to make the most money possible for both him and his client. Scott Boras also only gives out 1 year deals a lot of time on arbitration eligible players especially ones who are seamingly underachieving. With Crede's 1 year contract Boras has the option to sign Crede to another 1 year deal next year at a considerably higher price if Crede has a break out year in '06. Also if he did end up going to arbitration after a Crede breakout year he would stand to make much more money, a muti year contract holds Crede to a set salary for '07 which means if Joe does have a breakout season he won't see a raise for it. From the Sox' point of view a 1 year deal is also the safe way of going about things considering the question marks surrounding Crede's back.

If you have a network adapter attached to your PS2 and an internet connection, you should be able to obtain updated rosters simply by going to the online play. You'll have to download the most recent rosters automatically through there. -
Top Prospects at the TE position
Kalapse replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I really think we'd take Pope over Lewis in the 1st round simply because Pope is the superior blocker and with our running attack a great run blocking TE would be extremely valuable to this team. -
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) I believe that they openly admitted that Rowand was the better centerfielder, but they wanted the White Sox to take the chance and lessen their defense in the outfield to help the anemic offense. However, in hindsight, I think things worked out all right. The true way to spark a s*** lineup would have been to keep the steller defense in CF and replace crazy Carl with Grif. I don't think there's much of a case for replacing Rowand with Griffey in CF half way through last year.

QUOTE(spiderman @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) Maybe somebody should let Terry Boers/Dan Bernstein know about Griffey's lack of range. Last season when all the trade talk was going on about Griffey, those two constantly made fun of callers who suggested that Rowand was better defensively, and that Griffey was not the CF he was earlier in his career before injuries. I remember one caller actually had numbers to attempt to support his argument about Griffey's diminished range, and they had said numbers can be anything you make of them... Rant over. Anyone who thinks Griffey is still a top flight defensive centerfielder either 1.) Hasn't seen Grif play D in about 5 years or 2.) Doesn't know s*** about defense and baseball in general. Griffey hasn't been himself for quite awhile now and anyone who has seen a Reds game knows this. Somehow it doesn't surprise me that those two would say something like this and then dismiss all that oppose.
