  1. QUOTE(GreenSox @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 10:13 PM) Dye doesn't produce enough for an offensive position like 1B. You need a home-run hitter and/or a big time OBP player. Dye produces neither. Makes the Sox significantly worse. That should be plan ZZZZZZZ Um, wrong. Dye hit 31 HRs this year, lets compare that to other 1B in baseball. 1.) D. Lee - 46 HR 2.) M. Teixeira - 43 HR 3.) A. Pujols - 41 HR 4.) A. Dunn - 40 HR 5.) P. Konerko 40 HR 6.) R. Sexson 39 HR 7.) C. Delgado 33 HR 8.) J. Giambi 32 HR 9.) J. Dye 31 HR This in turn means Jermaine Dye would have the 4th most HRs of any firstbaseman in the AL, and 9th most in all of baseball. Also the ML average for HRs by a 1B is 14, Dye hit 31; 31 > 14. Dye's power production is not a reason to not consider him for the 1B spot. This should still be the Sox' 5th option but you can't doubt Dye's power numbers.
  2. The day I got my roster shirt in the mail I scoped through the names on the back, I immediatley noticed that Crede's name had been omitted, I really don't mind.

    QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) Shaumburg High School A good friend of mine who went to Schaumburg got hit in the back of the head with a baseball bat by his girlfriend after she saw pictures of him doing body shots off when of her best friends on myspace. He had a pretty bad concussion.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) I will kill you. I'm calling the police.
  5. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) 24 hours from now I will be unhealthily nervous... QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) I think I get even more nervous then you. :puke :puke QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) I doubt that. But if you say so. Man tomorrow is gonna be a loooooooong day QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ God, you two are pansies. :headshake
  6. LMAO at Manny in RF, there's a reason why Boston put him in LF as opposed RF when he was on the Indians. He'll lose you atleast 5 games with his glove in RF.
  7. I can't go against them until week 8, it's just the way it works. As of right now the Bears are my favorite to win the division but after week 8 when they have that 2-5 record I'll turn to pessimism.
  8. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) Might not get to $18 mill but I wouldn't bet against 4-5 yrs at $15 mill. annually. If we could offer Mags that kinda contract we can offer it to Paulie. Um, no. Konerko and Ordonez aren't nearly the same kind of player. Power: Konerko > Maggs Average: Konerko Speed: Konerko Defense: Different Positions so Konerko = Maggs Arm: Different Positions but Konerko Consistency: Konerko Maggs is a much better all around player than Konerko or atleast he was when we offered him the contract. Magglio is much closer to an all around player compared to Konerko who is basically 1 dimentional. You don't give a one dimensional ballplayer $15M that's a f***ing joke.
  9. w00t. This is perfect. This means whoever wins tomorrow will have to play 4 straight games with odd travel. Plus it knocks either Mussina or Colon back to atleast the 3rd game. NY ---------------------------------------------------------------------> Anaheim ...........................................Chicago
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) If that's happening you'd think they'd announce that tonight, no?? To atleast give people a day who worked their schedules around these games. You'd think. Selig has probably made his mind up already and if he has decided to change the start dates, he'd probably get press releases out within the next few hours. At least that would be the logical thing to do.
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) Where did you hear the rumor you posted in the ALCS Game 1 thread? A friend of mine works for the trib, he emailed me earlier today saying there were rumors going around about pushing back the start date.
  12. New York won forcing a game 5 in Aneheim on Monday. I really think there's a damn good chance the ALCS will be starting on Wednesday.
  13. In order of best HD Broadcasts: 1.) ESPN . . . 2.) ABC . 3.) CBS . . . . . . 4.) FOX
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) even with the rainout in ny the other day and if ny wins tonight are we for sure still playing on tues? i sure hope so...that would be a tired opponent! There is a rumor going around that if the Yankees should win tonight the ALCS game 1 will be pushed back to Wed. and the NLCS game 1 would be played on Tues.
  15. QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) 1b is the most important defensive position on the field. I dont want someone who doesnt know what they are doing playing there.. but hey, thats just me. We need Paulie back next year.. if he goes, our offense goes. WTF? This is very, very wrong.
  16. QUOTE(rangercal @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) While we are moving people around to positions they once played we can..... Play Carl at CF Paulie at 3rd Jermaine at 1st can Ozzie play SS still? That comparison doesn't work at all. The move to 1B is one of the easiest around, when players get older and it becomes more of a hassle to move around in the outfield they can find new wind at a spot like 1B where there isn't as much movement. You use Carl moving to CF as a joke, Carl can't play out there anymore considering how much speed he's lost however Dye could go to first pretty easily. Konerko is the same, slow as f***. Dye to first isn't all that far fetched, OF to 1B isn't that tough of a move especially if you have some previous experience at the position. Erstad moved from the OF to 1B and ended up winning a GG last season.
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) Didn't he come out of the bullpen quite a few times his first couple of years with the Sox? I think he even pitched out of the bullpen in the 2000 post season. Garland didn't make the playoff roster in 2000. He came out of the pen 2 times in 2000... and 19 times out of the pen in 2001.
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) Dye also used to be a pitcher. Maybe we can use him against lefties as opposed to Marte, it'd be hard for Dye to be any worse than Damaso.
  19. Dye used to be a firstbaseman before he was moved to the outfield in the Braves Organization so he does know how to play the position.
  20. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 01:28 AM) Goodbye SD. You didn't even deserve to play those 3 games. Be happy you made some extra revenue and go away for the winter. Also, do the Cards even celebrate this series victory very hard? Not in the least. The only one that was really into the celebration was Jim Edmonds, that's to be expected seeing how he's nuts.
  21. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) And if the series never gets to a game 7? You only throw your ACE one time in the series. That doesn't make any sense. I say play to win this thing as quickly as possible, and don't bank on game 7's. Plan for that and you will lose with bullets still in your gun. Beautiful analogy.
  22. QUOTE(SoxRock192 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) Was I told I can never use a smile again, or just to cut down Try one or two per post.
