Sox-Royals on WGN Tonight - 7:11pm CDT
Great pitching by the Royals. I have a feeling they'll keep it up this year. Especially if they get decent starts from the 3-5 starters.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) Mauer will be back in a month roughly. Probally should concede before he even gets back... because everyone knows if a team is ''close'' or actually ''has'' the division lead one month into a season you are phucked. I didn't know he'd be back in a month. I tuned into KFAN earlier today and they mentioned that he might be out until mid June. But I didn't hear the whole story so maybe they were saying it hypothetically.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 10:12 PM) Every single game last year in the second half between these two teams was exactly like this game...it does suck, especially since the M's are playing without Ichiro in this series. Look at it this way...both the White Sox and Twins picked up victories today that they really didn't deserve. It happens, and it happens more often than not in the Metrodome, there's no point in getting upset about it. The Twins' fans get really POed because they know they can outplay us for 7-8 innings and then one HR will take everything away (see Game 163). Whereas they have to scratch and claw with walks and Astroturf singles and grind it out...without Mauer and Redmond, they're going to have a tough time. Yeah I see your point for sure. But at the same time, if they're very close to the division lead, or have the division lead by the time Mauer comes back, it's going to be hard to beat them. That's why it's horrible seeing the Mariners gift wrap this game and send it in the mail for the Twins.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 10:03 PM) They can't blow that damn ballpark up fast enough. Their fans will be shocked to see how much of a home field advantage they lose without the dome.

This is the maddest I've been in a Sox win opener. I know it's just one game, but to let 5 people in a row reach base with 2 outs in the 9th is piss poor.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 09:56 PM) Yep, Twins win. Can't believe they didn't let Morrow try to close it out. I can't believe how horrible he was. Get some control.

I'm going to be very angry if the Twins somehow win this game. Up 5-3, 2 outs, no one on. Now bases loaded. Terrible.

AL Central Rotations
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 07:47 PM) Order for me goes White Sox, Tigers, Indians, Royals, Twins. But I would argue that quality starts are only part of the equation. Obviously defense is huge, and currently is where the White Sox have the biggest weakness. Please don't rank the Twins last, somehow there will be a voodoo hex on this team if the Twins are ranked last, haha.

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 07:44 PM) Man those new Twins' alternates are fugly. Are those actually alternates? I figured since it's the last opening day at the Metrodome they're wearing the original Metrodome uniforms.

PA Shooter feared Obama, Gun Ban
Seems this guy probably had a temper considering he threw a food tray at a drill sergeant. Either way, anyone who would want to do something horrendous like this has some serious mental issues.
